For those who are looking to a faster solution to number 2: Recognize that its is a right triangle. See that the side lengths differ by 2. y, y+2, y+4 Then think about our pythagorean triples. 3,4,5 all differs by 1. This would be x, x+1, x+2 So we need a triple that differs by 2. So multiply the triple by 2 (multiples are still valid as shown in the first half of the video). This gives you 6, 8, 10. Seeing this shows that 6 + 2 = 8 and 6 + 4 = 10. so y = 6!
(y-6)(y+2) = 0. Either y-6 = 0 or y+2 = 0 (look up "zero-product property"). Also y = -2 can't work because the side length of a triangle can't be negative, right?
i just rotated the triangle on it's side and used 12 as the base. it worked easier for me without having to worry about solving 1/2b x 12. for some reason that frightened me because i didn't know if i should multiply the 1/2 by 12 or only multiply the variable b by 1/2. so instead i did 1/2(12) x h and got 6 x h which is the same thing as 6 x b because the side lengths are interchangeable. that's how i did it anyways, but whatever.
When he does the step just before getting the answwer when he has this (y-6)(y+2) how he gets that y=6,-2 and then that y=6 ? he also is changing the positive for negative and that stuff, I don't get it
I understand the whole concept of doing the problem but I don't understand as to why -2 can't be the answer. Also thank you for doing these kind of videos I hope you make more, it's really beneficial.
Sir, I must say that your videos are the best I've come across in regards to SAT prep or even math in general. Thank you very much!
10 years ago and here i am watching it in 2020 Thank You SO MUCH!!!!
For those who are looking to a faster solution to number 2:
Recognize that its is a right triangle.
See that the side lengths differ by 2. y, y+2, y+4
Then think about our pythagorean triples.
3,4,5 all differs by 1. This would be x, x+1, x+2
So we need a triple that differs by 2.
So multiply the triple by 2 (multiples are still valid as shown in the first half of the video).
This gives you 6, 8, 10.
Seeing this shows that 6 + 2 = 8 and 6 + 4 = 10.
so y = 6!
thanks!
you are so helpful im surprised these videos don't have more views
thanks to you they might...share if possible and gl on your test
can you give me your

@@haha8072 why he is very helpfull
THANK YOU SOOOOOSOSOSSO much, you explain everything in a way that makes sense hallelujah
I will comment on this. I'm taking the sat Saturday. These videos are extremely helpful. I need 750.
i know its been a while but how did it go xD
I love the Intro!!!
Thank You This Was So Helpful !

all right so now I get the can't be negative thing, I'm just still wondering why the heck he changes the positive to negative and the inverse
When he does the step just before getting the answwer when he has this (y-6)(y+2) how he gets that y=6,-2 and then that y=6 ? he also is changing the positive for negative and that stuff, I don't get it
these videos help soo much. thanks!
Really admire your videos
Please do make more
And if you can some videos on physics
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Why didn't you take underoot o n both sides ?
How did you get 8y when you were foiling on the triangle problem with all variables?
Man he has opened the square of (y+4)2
All of you people who can do Algebra are lucky! I had to solve this problem by graphing it on the calculator! Not the best method but it works!
im doin the sat tommorow!!!!!!!
wish me luck guyz
i didnt understand the reverse foil step.
great job man
Unbelievable !!!
you are amazing. thank you

breakgirl6509super A length cannot be negative.. think about it.

I had a nerdgasm when i found out that this thing is sooooo easy!!
NEVER MIND, I feel stupid now I finally got it
you are so helpful and funny
yep I felt stupid when I noticed it
5^2 =25___12^2=144 and 25+144=169 Г13 that's how I get AB without this two triangles and the top.
you are AweSOME!(:

Because if y-6 = 0, then y = 6...simple as that
@WHIREAS i helped you and this is what i get?!?!!??!?!?!?! meanie
what age do you SAT cus this is fucking easy
@WHIREAS Foil and solve. there are two solutions. the answer cannot be a neg number. no offense but this is elementary math lols
