  • Dan showcases everyone's favorite yellow clad warrior Warduke.
    From the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons toyline, which was kind of based on the animated show of the same name... but not really, we get this crazy looking warrior covered in weird and disparate armor pieces that somehow all work together.

    Arguably the best action figure of all time and even better can be had for a reasonable price...both versions.

    I wasn't into any form of D&D, didn't watch the cartoon, but the second I saw this action figure I begged my mom to buy him. Such a badass looking dude.

    Wow. Not sure why the algorithm decided to punt this blast from the past into my recs, but damn it was fun to see Warduke. And, you know, 6 years younger Dan too I guess. (lol)

    Both Warduke and Grimsword are my top D&D figures. And Evil Nightmare is a must when you own Warduke. Great video, digging the retro VHS vibe.

      +Dan Arena Thanks for watching! You know... I have a Nightmare but I couldn't find it in time to include it in the video. It's in a box of stuff that I packed away like last Christmas and haven't found. But Christmas is coming so I expect that it will turn up soon.

    I have the version of Warduke without the action feature.
    I have have two other figures in the line as well: Kalek and Strongheart.
    I adore this toy line.

      I had those 3 as a kid and Melf the Elf. Got em for Christmas. I bought them (except for Kelek) again on Ebay at the beginning of the quarantine.

    I loved all of the AD&D figures. They all had really cool designs, and I could really get creative with the stories I would play out.

    I have spent a truly agonizing month pining for this figure. I think I was reminded of his existence last month, when I had no play money, and this month I had other stuff I had to buy, But next month...Next month I'm getting me a fragging Warduke.

    In Dungeon magazine, Issue 105, December 2003, one of two official Dungeons and Dragons magazines, they gave this guy an updated look and actual game stats. Later in 2006 in the blind purchase Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures line (I think the name of the set was War Drums, but I'm not certain) he got an actual 25mm scale miniature.

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've seen pictures of the miniature. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a painted one.

    • @ianstuckey4405
      @ianstuckey4405 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The entire line was pre-painted. If you want to find one try Noble Knight Games, they specialize in old and out of print stuff, miniaturemarket .com is also a decent option, though I think their stock of old singles is running thin.

  • @BayushiGemma

    Warduke had a special place back in the day with that left gauntlet putting a pounding on many GI Joes when I mixed play with him. Have you considered putting up a page on figures from other lines that worked with GI Joes back in the days? Warduke, Sauron(Captain Power), Moltar(Crystar), Boba Fett, and so many more were in my mixed battles.

  • @MarkHarris01
    @MarkHarris01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually did make a character named after my cat once. In my defense, I was young and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

  • @NeoGee
    @NeoGee 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Warduke would often terrorize GI Joe! He even seized control of Cobra at one point.
    Han Solo and some Micronauts got involved in it too somehow...
    At least that's what happened when I was playing action figures years ago so this may not be canon.

    15 - 25...WAIT,WHAT?!! From where I live,this guy is BEGGING TO be collected by me at 15 DOLLARS!! DAMMIT,GREG!
    Yeah,always wanted to know what this guy is. He looks really cool. Never played Dungeons and Dragons but thanks to Capcom games adapting the RPG titles during the 90's that I've watched clips on here,I've heard this guy was the coolest character thanks to retroblasting's video.

      Toy Polloi A few years ago I had a BEAUTIFUL carded Warduke and Strongheart but had to sell them because I just can't collect everything. That Warduke hurt though. I think about it all the time. Someday... we'll find each other again.

    I never thought of the left side of his body as armor. I just assumed he was half reptilian and that's what made me buy the figure. Also had the devil/hell horse he rode in. Unfortunately, both pieces are gone.

    War Duke was the only AD&D figure I had.

  • @kaijukojin4371
    @kaijukojin4371 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had war duke, the centipede and a few other pieces. Mom didn't really ask what brand they were since they looked like He-Man.
    I go to toys are us to get some toys and come across the toy line next to He-Man and she about shit herself.
    Our pastor the week before had gone on and on about the devil sneaking into our house in subtle ways, and this is how my mother interpreted Satan was trying to attack me.
    So, I sat with her in front of our BBQ and watched my entire collection of those "Evil toys" burn, along with my he-men because Skeletor was levitating in the "Lotus position" and doing divination magics with clear instructions on how with the symbols he was using (I had no idea what she was talking about. One of the books in my He-Man figures had Skeletor sitting cross-legged and floating while monologing about he-man...)

    Let's debate whether Warduke carries his sword in his right or left hand! I think he's a lefty, prove me wrong.

  • @sebastienlovescookieswirlc
    @sebastienlovescookieswirlc 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Loosely based? The only difference is in the cartoon he has gauntlets on both hands. Sounds a little bit more than "loosely based" to me :)

    • @SecretGalaxyTV
      @SecretGalaxyTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sebastien Blaue Yeah but the entire line is "loosely based", right?

  • @camcordernonsense5264

    It's unfortunate these toys didn't go further to expand our knowledge of this world. The poor death of the cartoon didn't help I'm sure.

    0:43 "If you're going to make a toy line based on the show, maybe start with the nine main characters from the show who are actually in every episode?"
    Hmmm...
    1) Hank
    2) Eric
    3) Presto
    4) Sheila
    5) Diana
    6) Bobby
    7) Uni
    8) The Dungeon Master
    9) Venger
    10) Tiamat
    That's *ten* main characters, dude. :-p
    (...and what I would give to have a Tiamat action figure...sized to scale, of course!)

    You actually said Magneto like Magnet-O? Really? Like a Magnetic cereal? I suspect this is how ICP would pronounce it! Do you also pronounce Sub-Mariner like submarine? I'm sorry, but I just can't let it slide. I can only hope you've corrected course in the past five years!
