"To tell Vernon that in order to come to Cartagena it is necessary for the King of England to build another greater fleet, because this has only been left to drive coal from Ireland to London, which would have been better than undertaking a conquest that they cannot achieve. ”
Blas de Lezo
Awanta, no esperaba encontrarte aquí, cuando se viene el video de esta canción?, es un temazo y la manera en la que editas los videos es genial, seria increíble ver esta canción en el canal.
Blas de Lezo is laughting about the song. Nothing in the song talk about the Spanish Victory and who rule the waves 50 years more. hahaha
@@DukeofTxtspeak I enjoy to tell the truth history. I don't like Trafalgar but... was history.
@decembrist wait...this song gas actual meaning to it? I just thought the title was oddly specific
@decembrist so...England just fucked up to summarise it?
@decembrist I didn't even know George Washington had a brother
Actually I think it does speak of the Spanish Victory. It starts out with English arrogance because Porto Bello fell in a day now Britannia rules the wave, 30,000 men at arms the greatest fleet the world has know is setting up the situations of how big this fleet is and it ends up of an omen in the sky and of coming doom, so that tells you that something was going to go wrong
Ironically the song Rule Britannia was written in 1740 about how she rules the waves, but the Spanish humble them in 1741.
I'm sorry, but the story they tell was dedicated to the Spanish, all the English died for sure, they should have mentioned Blas de Lezo.
Historian Reed Browning describes the British Cartagena expedition as "stupidly disastrous" and quotes Horace Walpole, whose father was Vernon's bitter enemy, writing in 1744: "We have already lost seven millions of money and thirty thousand men in the Spanish war and all the fruit of all this blood and treasure is the glory of having Admiral Vernon's head on alehouse signs." The inscription on Vernon's marble memorial in Westminster Abbey reflects the bitter dispute between the naval and land forces at the siege of Cartagena: "He subdued Chagre, and at Carthagena conquered as far as naval forces could carry victory
Even in defeat, they know how to do marketing to overrate themselves and make a terrible lost look like a victory. The British are the masters of propaganda.
SPAIN WIN!!!!
Says in English what a clown
And it's not just the 16 cans of cheap larger I've imbued this evening that make me believe I'm a pirate, it's my scurvy and syphilis :-)
Yarrr!
Sailing the raging seas
To distant lands unknown
Porto Bello fell in a day
Now Britannia rules the waves
Thirty thousand men at arms
Red Ensign in the sky
To Cartagena we set sail
With blood and plunder we'll prevail
Twice struck, and twice we've failed
But third time works a charm
The greatest fleet the world has seen
To fight the War of Jenkins' Ear
Waters lash across the bow
Through Caribbean Seas
The year is 1741
The final battle has begun
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
The sands of time will remember our names
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
History is written today
Across the sea-lashed deck
Our captain gives a cry
"Cartagena lies ahead
The Spanish foe will soon be dead!"
Portents of coming doom
Engulf the battle line
High above, the heavens sigh
A red light burning in the sky
An omen of dread
Which no man can deny
The legends hold true
We must turn back or die
Superstitious fools
Be gone from my sight
Blast the trumpets of war
And prepare for the fight
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
The sands of time will remember our names
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
History is written today
Hard to starboard
Man the cannons
And on my command, unleash hell!
FIRE! Show them your steel
Bring them to death on the battlefield
Ride on the wind, and conquer the foe
The legends be damned, to our deaths we will ago
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
The sands of time will remember our names
The skies are burning with thunder
The seas are ablaze with flame
Set the course for Cartagena
History is written today
This is like piratey sabaton 😄
That's the best description of this band ever 🤣
I really love this video
Nice to see you back
Speak english
"1586 the infamous English pirate Francis Drake pillaged Cartagena" I swear they got the dates wrong for this song, Pirates were not present in 1741 for that battle
Vernon.
A real battle happened there.
The battle of Cartagena de indias is 1741...
Energetic song
Ese intro parece el lodo mas epico de pasar Super Mario Bros.
Blas de Lezo Hero of Cartagena
This song is an epic adventure, the critics be damned
