I live in the San Bernardino Mountains too in a town called Lytle Creek and for years they replaced everything they needed to replace to make it safe, but power shut-offs are getting worse, they only really started a few years ago. They told us we have to replace all the old equipment so that they wouldn't have to shut off our power, but they are still doing it and even more so now and for longer durations.
We get more power outages, too, because of the new sensors they have put in the lines that are designed to keep fallen lines from starting fires. It is not that bad where I live, so I can't complain. I am glad it is safer. Power lines need to be underground or people need battery backups or some kind. Just a portable battery power generator and a couple of folding solar panels [glass!!!] or just glass panels with portable stands would be a big help. Folding solar panels are not a good idea in high winds, but you only put them out when the winds die down. Down comforters are a wonderful thing. Blankets are pathetic compared to down. Down mixed with quilless feathers and synthetic blend ticking isn't too expensive either. You won't believe how good down is if you have never tried it.
This is predictable: People are screaming bloody murder saying Edison, and other power companies, must deenergize power lines during predicted wind events, and then complain they have no power when they do.

It seems like when people give up responsibility for every aspect of their own well being they are at the mercy of the authorities. Can they not install generators at their houses and thereby take back responsibility for themselves?
I have a natural gas generator..in the summer when its 110 out a little battery bank is laughable and my power is off for weeks at a time, while this state forces green energy crap on all of us we have the highest energy rates in the US and the most unreliable, like the big battery fire today at moss landing green crap isnt reliable or safe at all..get us back our natural gas peaker plants
If your gas is still working, 1. heat up the water at your stove 2. Put the hot water in any plastic bottle 3. Place it on your abdomen until you are sweating
Complaining about shut offs as news of lawsuits are being reported in LA. Edison isn’t taking the risk ever again. Better start researching generators cause it’s only downhill from here folks.
They don't want people living in rural and hard to get to areas! So they are going to make it difficult for you to stay or theyl force you out one of the hard ways!😮😢
Shocking to find out they don't use insulated wires, which means anything, ANYTHING, that touches the bare wire, it will spark and the electricity will arch and find something close to connect with and that's how fires start.
@@rayb.6537I’m sure he meant with solar and lithium. We’re the same way in our 5th wheel. Been running everything except AC, clothes dryer and electric side of our gas/electric water heater off our 1.2kw solar and 600AH lithium battery bank since September, 2020. Unless we’re running one of the above items we don’t even know the power is out.
Iive in a ev car at the ev stations going in on the I 10 all the way to AZ , its s project in the works for Calif , I went without utilities for 14 years , in a van, Im so so tired of the fires, floods , mudslides and those the crooks that cause it , may the Lord keep you safe 🙏
The fact that in our homes we have to have insulated wire to prevent fires, yet these super high power lines are just bare conductors is horrible outdated and unsafe design. All the conductors should be replaced with insulated ones, not just in high fire risk areas. Edison is the worst power company to EVER EXIST
They did us the same way last week. We are a senior community. They kept telling us they were turning it back on. But it was off for almost 4 days. Our food had started to spoil.
They should all have their own generators . Would they rather have their houses burn down because a wildfire was started because they didnt turn off the power when it got windy like what just happened ?
Give Newsome a break he just built a $10 million home and it takes a lot of antiquing to fill a house with that much space and yesterday must especially hard for Bass not being able to attend the inauguration of Mozambique’s new Prime Minister yesterday. Democrats are making our lives worse by the day and there are way to many people who are allowing to happen the people doing the screwing have convinced them Orange Man Bad.
@ here’s how the internet works, type Newsome’s new house press return and as if by magic that thing in your hand will give you the answer. 20 miles from San Francisco he purchased it November from one of the heirs of the Hyatt Hotels
Go ask your neighbors in Malibu if their power is back on. Which way do you want it? Maybe if you live in the mountains you should be more self sustaining.
Tons of reports of lawsuits against Edison already before any official information to the cause of Eaton ( not palisades) and they wonder why they remain disconnected
Like can you imagine living in these Santa Ana wind-prone but also heavy snow prone areas and being outraged when you lose power? Honey you decided to live up here and you haven't figured out how to get your own generator? Shut up.
Oh and yes how about the lazy tree company. Find a dead end road set up traffic cones or block movement and sit in their truck watching videos. During snow in 2021. So many branches took out the power lines. Because they get paid to milk the clock. But our Edison rates sure go up.

Yeah I used to live in Crestline. Thats one reason I'm glad I dont live there anymore. Power was down all day every other week.
They are doing this in Crestline area for a couple years now updating equipment but still we continue to get these outages

This is why you should prep.
Water, food, firewood, and a generator.
That dude’s sideburns are epic.
That’s called mutton chops 😂

There's also less expensive ways to go. We bought a Jackery and a propane heater. Works for us in Running Springs!

My parents became hospitalized as a result of the power being shut off last week.

Been off the grid in Canada in a 5th wheel for over 5 years now
Never been happier
So you’re still paying out of pocket for various expenses to keep the 5th wheel going. Not sure what your point is.
Good for you!’

Off the grid to be found in TH-cam comments. Lol.
@@rayb.6537 you're not sure what his point is because you're not educated. That's sad.
No problems here during outages.
Solar panels and batteries, plus a generator.
Sure beats being a homeless victim of a fire storm.
My area went thru this for a week!! But, No Fires. Just hold tight San Berdo🥰🥰🥰 Thank You for your SACRIFICE❤❤❤We dearly appreciate YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️
The big wind never materialized.
A lot of other folks in Riverside County have been without power for about a week or more.

I am sure they all.have gas generators.
Don't most of those people have fireplaces
Can you spell Generac????

Hell we live next to the Devil Canyon Power Plant near the Univerity and they shut us off all the time! Kiss my butt before Ill buy an EV!

People food gona go bad
If you have an oxygen demand and no generator maybe you should think about that a little harder
Fox the problem Edison
Trojan fight song playing for those with power shut off.
Were they not given a heads up? It’s obviously because of the winds and their safety!

They're lucky they still have a house to connect power to.
and should have a battery backup system by now at least a basic one.
They’re rich, they can get solar if they don’t want their power out.
Get solar and tesla powerwall and stop putting yourselves to authoritarian rule of so cal edison
Or a cheap $ 500 generator.
Rich people problems.
People complain rather than prepare - we live in a world of narcissists that think the government has their back 😂
I'm getting a diesel generator for my house.
I'm now sick because of these ridiculous woke democrat policies
