You can tell that there was an elephant in the room, and the fact that Russell was able to talk and laugh about it in the end made Steve open up. Obviously a nervous but simultaneously sigh of relief laughter. Always interesting to see humour when there is some genuine ambiguity/tension at hand.
Really odd interview between two very different comedians, Steve kind of opened more as they kept talking but I get the feeling they're just too different people to really get on. Still both really funny people.
LOVE the 'cat and mouse' comedic dueling. Having already known about the fiasco of 'Cruise of the Gods' i always wondered how the HELL Russ got Steve to like him again... this video shows how,.... from Russ's relentless vocab, off the cuff insights and emotional awareness in letting Steve be the alpha ... and more than a significant amount of actual real life talent. Beautiful.
Brand is quite good in a sort of, 'funny bloke in a pub' kinda way, or 'good to have at a party', but Coogan on the other hand is simply a COMIC GENIUS...his career proves it and speaks volumes....leagues apart
Why is everyone hating on Russel Brand? He makes people laugh, including Steve at the end and you make it out like he's not funny and that Coogan is some godlike comedian. Get off it. They're both funny as hell
I don't do the praising and fanboying over actors that live in their prestigious worlds, but these two just have the most amazing beautiful minds, especially Russel. How quick he is, its so interesting to watch someone as witty and funny as Steve Coogan to try and catch up with Russel. Respect to them both though probably one of the best most underrated interviews to ever take place!
I agree with Coogan trying to keep up! Interesting to watch... I feel like Coogan is slightly uncomfortable though as he's used to being in control of an interview
If this was a boxing match, Brand got a couple of cheeky jabs in early, but Coogan's power and class then began to take over and he won easily on points.
I think steve didn't bring out the big guns because he's friends with rusell, but also rusell's comedy is about being really fast, whereas coogan's is more slowly paced, which puts hiim at a disadvantage in this case.
How the fuck does Russell do it? Steve Coogan's one of the coolest customers going, and yet by the end of this he's lost himself, Russell just doesn't take no for an answer
They always say good comedians take years to hone their act. This is back when I feel Russell was very much still 'honing'. Coogan looks like he's in physical pain and Russell's idea of an interview is to shout sexual innuendos. Look at that fucking hair cut. He's actually over 30 dressed like that
You obviously don't know much about drugs, mate. He can't really be "wasted" if he has snorted some coke. He'd actually be wired - quite the opposite to being wasted, mate.
@trisoutlaw86 Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. You obviously have extensive experience of observing people under the influence of drugs. But here's the real test; can you tell us what kinds of drugs he is on, and in what ratios? Your time starts now!
That was absolutely amazing. What wonderful humor, satire, parody, of Peter. I am thoroughly disappointed, however (I intend to write into TH-cam immediately), that they left out the part where all the dogs suddenly stood up and admitted, like livestock on George Orwell's farm, that they were not even dogs in the first place. Stupid dogs.
Your joking right? Coogan has never been that funny. From The Day Today till present time, hes always been mediocre. Brand is on a whole other level, which is usually overshadowed by his ADHD type behaviour
i love that steve laughs the most at one of matts lines
Matt Morgan appreciation society
@@leomarks889Still!

Russell Brand was/is funny. His mid-2000's radio show was hilarious.
Altho he did admit to kicking his dog down the stairs

Beautiful.
+Steve Hunt what happened with cruise of the gods??
good observation
"letting Steve be the alpha"? you fackin mag
Brand is quite good in a sort of, 'funny bloke in a pub' kinda way, or 'good to have at a party', but Coogan on the other hand is simply a COMIC GENIUS...his career proves it and speaks volumes....leagues apart
Russell is funny and entertaining, while Steve is also those things but a comedic intellectual
@Jason Gallagher you might be right
Boorer by name, bore by nature
i love this, i like both guys and to see them interact is nice especially wen hes lolng at the end
Two clever comedians
Why is everyone hating on Russel Brand? He makes people laugh, including Steve at the end and you make it out like he's not funny and that Coogan is some godlike comedian. Get off it. They're both funny as hell
Russell Brand interviewing Russell Brand.
Simon Bremner and it was forever so
....
+DV M twas ever thus ,is a better way of saying what you said

One's quick witted, one's too clever by half.
If this was a boxing match, Brand got a couple of cheeky jabs in early, but Coogan's power and class then began to take over and he won easily on points.
I love Russell!
Radio show was funny as fuck

Steve Coogan; so intelligent, so problematic. I still love him the most
Only language!
can i ask where are you getting these from. i love them .
Tuscan bean soup - what a funny story
"only language, nothing happened" , fucking awesome
UK: list of returnable items: tea; Russell Brand
😂
Let the man speak for God's sake!
@sweetlouis123456 I taped them off MTV when they were first broadcast.
I think he was trying to be cooperative for the interview. But you could see he had a sudden memory of why his company sacked Brand.
He's off his head
It's clear who the comedian is here
Which one?
Steve Coogan was completely out of it on heroin here. Can you believe it?
.....eh?
steve really didn't want to be there did he..
A lot of people felt sick 😅
@innit27 if steve wanted to put him down, he could

yep, but hes extremely good at it and it seems to work.
How drunk is Steve?
That was funny.
Yeah, those two are DEFINITELY going out on that date. Brand is like a little kid on too much sugar.
You obviously don't know much about drugs, mate. He can't really be "wasted" if he has snorted some coke. He'd actually be wired - quite the opposite to being wasted, mate.
Hello hello
he wasnt on drugs then
u write as if u are directing a film, are u? (question mark) etc (etcetera)
@trisoutlaw86 Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. You obviously have extensive experience of observing people under the influence of drugs. But here's the real test; can you tell us what kinds of drugs he is on, and in what ratios? Your time starts now!
Coogan hates him due to the fact that Brand just got lucky...G...

coogans fake laugh at the end.....😛
😂
Im thinking .....much as it might upset some people these two honestly look related.....really😯
Hahaha its the truth
Coogan is wasted here. I bet Russell gave him a toot in the green room.
Prody? 😂
Yikes 😟
russell brand is a bellend
awkward
Steve Coogan isn't good at answering questions ;`P
@MezzMcGillicuddy1 dope, Grass. Hash. Coke. Mescaline. Nebutol. Tuonal. Chloral Hydrates? Amphetamines and Crystal meth,
Weirdness
Russell Brand is the least attractive man ever. Ew.
i consider myself fair and like to give people a chance
but brand is just ugly and not funny at all!
Russell Brand not a very good interviewer
Except for in this video, where he was twatty rather than funny.
Your joking right? Coogan has never been that funny. From The Day Today till present time, hes always been mediocre.
Brand is on a whole other level, which is usually overshadowed by his ADHD type behaviour
organikness they were both great in the office
Thank god Brand disappeared into obscurity, and Coogan still has a fantastic career. The talent prevailed.
They were like a tortoise and a hare but the race is over for both of them.
The rubbish brand.!
