I'm sure you'll figure it out, these engines are so simple to tear apart and put back together anyone can do it. I've even had a guy come to with a rod knock in a Niva and said he'll just buy another engine when this one blows, and 2 years later still driving the thing with rod knock.

engine out in around 2-3 hours... (first time on this model) could be done in a hour if experienced I guess! very easy to ok on indeed...

Maybe the Lada really loves being in your garage and doesn't want to be sold... This time it doesn't look too good though! I hope you can fix it soon without an extensive engine rebuild.

Coolant can reach areas other liquids cannot.
We have a saying here in the UK. It goes like this.
If things can go wrong, at the least opportunity they will. We have a name for it.
    Sod's Law.
Like my 3/8" drive socket when adjusting Alternator belt tension. It fell off somewhere behind the alternator but much searching and using a magnet on extension, a mystery where it went. Probably dropped off on the next long drive.
Some years later when changing the Alternator, there it was! Sod's Law... 🤣
That vacant gap on my Wall mounted tool board, again filled.

I did also try to see if I could make the car stay in gear without popping out by removing the gear lever ... result was gear oil all over the cabin! :D yay!
A good thing these got a hose down kind of interior...

At, vi dine følgere må være med i dit garageliv er virkeligt interresant. Nu er det nemt at være bagklog, men når jeg har set Nivaen køre så er det kommet meget hvid damp ud af udstødningen. Altså der er kommer vand i cylinderne.
