- A full review of Light Brigade, which just launched on Oculus / Meta Quest 2, PSVR2, and Steam. Light Brigade is a VR first person shooter with procedurally generated maps and RPG elements. This one blew me away. I wasn't ready.

The main game comprise of three sections that each end with a boss (Ice, Poison, Father). Each section is two themes each done twice (Forest, Mountain; Necropolis, Sewers; Ashen, Temple). The themes always appear in the same order and have repeatable entrances and exits. However, the middle areas are more like pieces that can be rearranged. It's more obvious on the areas with floating platforms like the mountains since the ground just changes the obstacles and paths. Only the boss levels are the same.
Something he missed is when you beat the game the first time, you unlock a difficulty select. Each time you beat the game at a higher difficulty, another difficulty level unlocks. So do not be put off by the ease of the game as it's meant to be easy early on. There's also a "Sun Run" which is infinite levels without bosses that get harder as you progress. The Sun Run also allows you to upgrade your classes.
Lastly, you do unlock an NPC that improves all classes but uses the same level points that improve single classes. That means using all classes to help level that portion as it'd be far to expensive to do it with one class

And it got even better on PSVR2 with the latest updates. It looks better, runs better and have some really welcomed QoL improvements.

i saw a preview video on this game so i bought it a few days ago, I started playing it and the only issue i have, well, three issues, are that the upgrades sometimes don't seem very good for the mid run stuff, the permanent upgrades are quite pricey as levelling up takes a LOT of time for later levelling, and my third and final issue is that my headset doesn't have enough battery to quench my thirst for this game's game play loop.
"the best procedural generation you've ever seen" is absolutely a gross misrepresentation of what this is.
the gun mechanics are fine, good even - but not top tier for the quest. the rpg aspects are shallow after a few playthroughs, the environments are often empty and void of any meaningful detail, the "procedurally generated" levels have limited areas that can be variable - a few offenders of the ~12 templates are virtually the same every time. I think most that are gushing about this title have never played or heard of a rogue-lite. with only a handful of usable guns and even fewer enemy types, the game feels very barebones.
also it is far too easy - i beat it on just my second attempt.
the game is fun. its good. its worth your time. but is it as amazing as this video makes it seem? not even close.
Too easy? Have you played on higher difficulties at all? that's where the fun begins.

I'm not saying its bad, I'm playing it a lot and enjoying it. some of the claims in the video were just a bit much.
I would like to see the main gate be longer - like double the length - maybe even 7 bosses in total. the daily runs are only 24 stages as well.
@@ifauxq content patch is coming. Maybe we will get some new Boss or guns etc.
i love this game but it very badly needs better optimization for the quest 2, it doesn't properly render everything (you cant see terrain and enemy and they can still target you) and in the ashen depths i will get a enemy spawn into a wall that they can shoot out of luckily with some decoys you can glitch into said wall and get them also sometimes a platform will spawn that you cant get to so if the chest is in there you are out of luck. over all its a solid 9/10 for me even with the problems on the quest. and i cant wait to see how the devs continue to improve the game because its already a lot better than it was on release.

2:23 the artificial weight is janky, similar to Blade & Sorcery.
