Listening over a bright moonlight booming through the windows , wonderfully atmospheric radio adaptation
I would never of thought that was Bob Grant playing the monk unrecognisable voice to the comedy On the buses amazing . enjoyed this audio drama
What a brilliant drama.. highly recommended listening... thank you so much for sharing... kind regards Dave 😁👍👍👍👍👍
I've been looking for this for years - I first heard it when I was 12, and have always remembered the music but not the title. Thank you so much! By the way, the writer, Roy Clarke, was also responsible for Last of the Summer Wine, and Keeping Up Appearances...
I listened to this as a kid when it was on KAAY, Little Rock's Beaker Theater. I found it to be rather scary back then. Thanks for sharing this gem. I used to put the transistor under my pillow so that my dad wouldn't know that I was listening to the radio.
I remember this being pulled together into a slightly shorter one off radio play. Loved it. Many thanks for posting, haven' heard it in ages.
It was a different cast on that occasion - August 23rd 1980. Sue Jenkins, David Goodland, James Laurenson had the main roles. It was a Saturday Night Theatre on Radio 4.
it's great to realise that Father Probert is Bob Grant from On the Buses, Jack Harper, Stans conducter
In The Red Telephone box radio drama, he played a Police Officer called Cockfoster! How fitting for Jack😂
The sergeant was actually Private Walker from Dads Army, plus John Nettles from Midsummer Murders and is that the Robert Powell?
On the Buses meets Dad's Army!
Father Probert played by Bob Grant Jack Harper in On the Buses
Police Sergeant played James Beck , Pvt Walker the spiv in Dad's Army!!
Bob Grant sounds so different here from how he did in On the Buses - a great actor, underrated.
@@awanderingscholar1186 he was very underrated, he played Don Quixote on the radio 4 as well, he ended up comitting suicide, very sad!
@@MatHopkins_1967 and James Beck died at the young age of 44!
Thanks for posting pal, been waiting to hear this again after I heard it in 2017 on radio 4 extra
Me too. They’re broadcasting it again from next Tuesday 2/3
It’s on radio 4 extra weekly this month
Brilliant stuff 👍
The music!
Father Know it all &the laughing maniac.
I love this play but you're right, Father Probert is a bit annoying 😂
Thanks so much for this, I have a slightly ropey copy of the other version with James Lawrenson as Probert, David Goodland as Jamie and Sue Jenkins as Pam.
This version is much more fun!
Thanks! I'd be interested to hear the other one sometime!
@@awanderingscholar1186 I will sort it out in a few days... tested positive this morning and feel ugh!
@@honolulublofeld6460 bad luck with the covid - hope you feel better soon!
Ile Listen to this audiodramas before they delete them
Pls can anyone leave recommendations of other great radio adaptations
Is the music available anywhere does anyone know?
Or what it's called??
I'm guessing it was written specially for the programme. I think Trevor Holroyd is/was based in Yorkshire. He seems to have written other BBC radio music (quick Google search).
Where's episode 6 icant find it.Great drama thanks.
It starts at about 2 hrs 15 mins.
