A year late, but here’s my two cents. Rockwell’s obsession with element began with the Obelisks on the Island, later the Tek Cave, and his paranoia from his perceived betrayal by Helena. However, it’s unclear if he had ever seen the Overseer. In Scorched, he stole an artifact from a ragtag cult following Raia’s Obelisk-Hathor religion, then got another artifact from another nomadic tribe, and it was these that he was all “ooh, shiny” over. As far as the notes say, the Manticore artifact never did have an affect on him (unless that was the artifact he had gotten from the nomads; memory’s not too great on that detail), as he was too busy wallowing in his power/knowledge-hungry narcissistic delusion to pay it much heed. It even carried over to Aberration, where he was a bit careless of his surrounding at the start before the molten element pits began its siren song.
I agree, Scorched should have an ascension end for sure. I have ascended on every map and we know from the notes/lore that it was possible; and I don't like the BS reason hahaha And I just jacked my rex up for the Ascension fight, I had Tek armor, but I didn't pay attention to my tek rifle when fighting the Overseer...
One of the devs stated a few months ago that the ruins of the coliseum in Scorched Earth is where the Ascension terminal was planned to be. In the center of the coliseum is that gaping hole with a grate over the cover, that was supposed to be the entrance down into the Overseer arena.

For a better grasp of this, you could easily find all of the explorer notes on the Wiki and can probably piece everything together from there. And even if it doesn’t help with your questions about the lore, it should prove to be an interesting read nonetheless. In lore, Rockwell indeed wasn’t the intended Overseer of Aberration; that Ark broke when Diana and Santiago’s lot decided to bomb that part of the station, which is also why the surface is incredibly flammable during the day. The Overseer was, therefore, completely destroyed. Then Rockwell came along, and sorta fused himself into the Ark via the molten element. That’s also why Reapers, Nameless, and other Eldritch horrors exist there: Rockwell created them with his new power. Because Rockwell is now a godlike being with near-complete control of the Ark, the player has to defeat him in order to free up enough power to run the Gateway. I think the System (the network of supercomputers and Homo-Deus shells keeping the entire Ark network running) also did something to effectively mark Rockwell as the new Overseer, meaning he’d never be able to die no matter how many times he was killed. He could only be weakened. For Extinction, there is no Overseer, as it’s Earth. The last step in this journey (before the player is somehow yoinked into the Genesis simulation). Home, but in serious disrepair. The only Arks here are the prototypes, which didn’t have Overseers. As Helena, Diana and maybe Mei state, the Earth is “corrupted” by the element-poisoned by it- and the Titans are raw manifestations of that poison, meaning they are created directly by it, as opposed to the various creatures being corrupted by it like a Rex or Wyvern. The strongest concentration of the Element’s power is the King Titan, the biggest, baddest of the Titans. And basically, if you kill him, you weaken the Element’s grip enough for the Reseed Protocol to engage and fully cleanse Earth of this evil, hence the cutscene of the Arks returning with life. Additionally, Ascension seems to have been an original part of the Arks, as seen in Aberration with the bombing and on the Island with the Tek Cave. However, it was more of a near-infinite loop, since the System would never consider survivors to be good enough, and so would send them to another Ark to further test them, again and again until they eventually die. However, thanks to Gateway Project, that cycle is broken, and survivors can travel to Earth from Aberration. Helena made this even more feasible after she Ascended to Homo-Deus, by quite literally enabling respawn for survivors.
On the subject of different Tek saddles, I saw a comment on an old Syntac video saying the Rock Drake Tek saddle should have an Element-powered boost which I thought sounded AMAZING! Someone please send that idea to Wildcard via Twitter or something, and I know I did not come up with this idea, I just wanted to share it!

So the Rex army I ended up using for the first two bosses, was nineteen level 387 Tek Rexes, starting level of 314 (not entirely sure how many mutations in each stat, because after generation 8 the mutations began stacking exponentially) Leveled them off of baby Giga’s from my Giga farm (five females, one male) think I probably slaughtered close to 10k baby Gigas in total Final stats were 83-85k HP, 2500-2600% Melee, The Broodmother and Megapithecus fights were comically easy, even the Alphas, Gamma Megapithecus died in under 30s, xD
FrajereQ P.R. Genesis screwed up some things when it launched, including my Rexes, so I started a new breeding line, The final product has 94k HP, 2300% melee >:3
i know i'm late but in the explorer's notes helena and rockwell got sent to scorched but the other survivor (Forgetting her name at the moment) got sent straight to aberration after beating the overseer, scorched is essentially a filler map
It hurt just a little bit when you were waiting for a single Fab to make 1000 poly... while your replicator was running and makes the poly a million times faster xD love your content and love rewatching everything

Try pushing the boss fight Tamed Creature cap by bringing dinos in cryo pods. I know there is a cooldown, but one or two more dinos in a fight can always make the difference. Also, I do know you wont have cryopods till extinction, but maybe you could try it in the cluster series
thats why i am so glad i started playing ark this year on steam and not last year on epic games :) i have all the ascensions and ark is mainly finished. just a few bugs. ab is the best map so far, love it :))

I don’t quite get that either, I’ve got an Ascendent Rex saddle blueprint with 161.5 armor value I’ve been using for my Rexes, I *suppose* you could use the command “ GFI RexSaddle_Tek 1 20 1” to give yourself a very high quality saddle blueprint, but those are fucking expensive I’m talking (from one I made) 26000 Black Pearls, 70000 metal, 6000 Element, 40000 Polymer, etc But it did have an armor value of 345 So maybe GFI RexSaddle_Tek 1 10 1 would be cheaper, lower quality, but better cost In case you don’t get the syntac-x (lol) “GFI” give item “RexSaddle_Tek” specifies blueprint (RexSaddle would give you a normal saddle) “1” quantity of item “10” quality of item (1=primitive, 10=Mastercraft/low Ascendent) “1” Boolean that determines if it’s the item, or a blueprint to create the item (0=item 1=blueprint)
I bet a good modder could make an ending, since helena wants us to progress forward and get to earth she would have set something up for us to get off SE... Can you imagine if all saddles had durability and could break? This stuff is expensive... till you see the tek bps from Extinction lol.
No, even though the ending to scorched is disappointing, the only way to get the experience of the desert is to play scorched. Even if the map is lazy, it is still a good map.

@@jessihamby541 Yeah. I don't think Ragnarok or The Center have Ascensions either, but I'm not sure as those were originally modded maps and not part of the story. Those don't have any explorer notes either. I've been playing for less than a year and have yet to beat the Island. Apparently, Scorched Earth was supposed to get Ascension, but they've decided not to do it. Probably because they are busily trying to fix other issues and planning a new season pass and more free maps as well.
it would be good for a scorched ending for the people that think ark is dry and nothing for xbox to ps4 to pc players to do gives ark a little kick for them to start playing again
Scorched should have a special tekgram called the ascender which needs a full inventory of element to activate and you need to build a special structure around it to ascend

Unfortunately the ark devs dont care about anything their players think. They don’t seem to like to go back and rework things.

I did the alpha cave with 10 15k 555md base Rex’s on official server it’s really easy.They had 90 saddles and current stats were 40k hp 1100 melee

So I'm curious and I apologize for the question but I'm new to ARK and just barely started the Island. If scorched has no proper ending, then how do you go to aberration? It is from SE or the Island?? Or is there a special boss, like the Overseer that I need to defeat?
No, you just upload and head to Aberration from there after beating the Manticore.

@@jessihamby541 Yeah. I don't think Ragnarok or The Center have Ascensions either, but I'm not sure as those were originally modded maps and not part of the story. Those don't have any explorer notes either. I've been playing for less than a year and have yet to beat the Island. Apparently, Scorched Earth was supposed to get Ascension, but they've decided not to do it. Probably because they are busily trying to fix other issues and planning a new season pass and more free maps as well.
That's a tech saddle shouldn't it could as the same armor and maybe do more damage
it would be good for a scorched ending for the people that think ark is dry and nothing for xbox to ps4 to pc players to do gives ark a little kick for them to start playing again

Scorched should have a special tekgram called the ascender which needs a full inventory of element to activate and you need to build a special structure around it to ascend
