I work at a seat factory for BMW. So this episode made me really happy. The seats could use some steaming but apart from that it is a great video and interesting content. Keep the good work up Benny.
I've got a original April 2008 FG XR6 with the black cloth seats ..Apart from one of the drivers side bolsters being a little low now they are the most comfortable seats I've ever had ..I had a BA Fairmont Ghia prior to that with full leather and wasn't all that thrilled even though the leather was in incredible condition and quite supple ..I do now need to replace the ZF 6 speed shifter boot and this was really helpful ,,,Thanks...
I’ve just bought a BA tonner, I was thinking of maybe doing an FG front upgrade on it, but I’m not sure how much of it will be bolt on. I love the old pig of a thing, it’s got 500k on the clock but has a BF engine box and diff with 165k on it, and the bloody coldest AC I’ve ever had in a car. I love it. One day I might look for a tub and change it over to a ute, but for now the trayback is much more beneficial as we renovate and landscape.
Nice work Benny. Really like your channel and your style. Nice and laid back and methodical. Only recently watched your drag week adventure. Hope you can do it again sometime. Keep it up, loving your work. Dan, UK
Benny, consider installing the optional electric adjustable pedals that were optional on the fg g6e. They were standard on my 08 bf fairmont ghia, but they make life so much more more comfortable. The seats where you want it, the wheel also is where you want it, and you move the pedals to suit. It removes any compromises, spirited squirts its mad, long trips, it comfortable as having everything where you want it to be.
@@benburke4077 if the car has memory fuctions its also convenient when you have 2 sets of keys and a short wife. None of the moving the mirrors and seat crap. Unlock and everything moves into place. sam johnson Yeah sure, they weren't tickfords, and the turbo versions weren't as sturdy as thier later counterparts, but they were by no means crap motors. They combined the reliability and strength of the Intechs while gaining the efficiency of DOHC and VCT (yes I know the Au's had VCT too). I just want to hear what makes you think that the BA motors were crap compared to your wet dream of an Intech.

Classic Soft Trim in the us makes custom to order seat kits for any car. They've been doing seat kits for dealership cars for a while now. Should give them a looking at
I've pulled the seats out of my car when I first bought it, and it's nice to find money, great video, I always learn something new every time, cheers, 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hi mate, thank you for the video this was very helpful. Purchased some leather XR seats second hand and found the electrical plugs were different than my stock wiring harness. You showed how easy it was to change the fabrics on the seats and they came up a treat! Cheers, subscribed!
Part way through Bennie was changing the seats and I looked at the dash and thought "wouldn't it be great if that was in carbon". Boom, next scene carbon inserts. They look magnificent as opposed to that manky grey plastic. Hope you can get a carbon piece for the central dash around all the button !! It would look complete.
nice one Benny, Just came across your channel (after the recent mcm vid mention ) after many years checking you in the SF and MCM vids, keep it going mate Lekker Benny
Fixed my seat thanks to this vid my first time doing it have to admit there was sum swearing 🤬 but got there in the end and it’s surprisingly mint thanks Benny

This series kinda reminds me of my dream build. An XA Coupe with a Landau front and interior.. Could you have pulled them covers any tighter or is there a fixed attaching system from Ford that left them a little saggy? If so, hopefully they will bed in a bit more. Cheers Benny.
The black metal spring clips in the FG seat swab base are prone to snapping. Ive had to change a few. Interesting to see the FGX uses the 'carbon fibre' inserts like the FG limited Edition. Nice job.
My XR50 T ute steering wheel is rough & peeling, gear stick & hand brake boots are flaking off, drivers top & bottom foam sides are flattened and passenger seat just got real bad water damage on the base. But it's a my work rig so would probably meet the same fate in another 6yrs or so, no matter how much I love it 😢

What was the cost for the factory replacement covers please - and did they need to be steamed to tighten up a bit or will they wear in? Thanks for making it look so easy :)
Got a xr sedan and a standard ute I been wanting to put the xr seats into the ute for a while after watching this I should be able to.before asking the xr is a wright off
Nice vid, helpful to me. The way you pulled those covers off, is it the same with fabric seats and do you know if you can replace sections of the foam.

Very interesting insight into how car seats are trimmed. Never knew they use Velcro to help keep fabric in place. Awesome work Benny !!
Doing the seat skins is definitely a good idea
