    Check out Kalgoorlie, The Cut, Araluen (in winter), Albany next time you come to WA. All top-quality, distinct courses with easy public access.

      @@underthecard Yeh I live in Geelong, so we're not far from Barwon Heads!
      I reckon I might take a drive to Port Fairy soon and play there, looks beaut.

    St Michaels in Sydney is pretty close to top 10

      Great shout! Have you ever played from the rarely used Tiger tee on - I think - the fourth hole? I played their amateur event about 6 years ago and that was one of the most intimidating tee shots I’ve ever seen…. Blind uphill tee shot with a forced high ball flight over a white aiming post and with dense bush off the front of the tee. Scary!!

    Great call with Portsea, so under rated. 10th is one of the great short 4’s

    Love the list, agree with them all except Wickham because I haven’t managed to get there yet, I’m sure it’s unreal. I’m half tempted to swim there.

      Thanks Cam. Haha. Worth the swim if your freestyle can handle the journey!

      @@underthecard I love port fairy as well, I’m lucky enough to be a member, every time I play just pinch myself that we have such a great course and really accessible. Very cheap golf for quality of course.

      @@609cam Green fees still $49? Coin flip between Port Fairy and Peterborough for the best value round in Victoria in my opinion. Heywood for $25 is also handy value. Yarram in Gippsland is also extremely good value for $

      @@underthecard yep still $49 for 18, $695 for full membership. I agree Peterborough is amazing, Heywood is a hidden gem, lake bolac is really nice conditioned course $10 for 9.

    No nsw courses?

    • @underthecard
      @underthecard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s based on the courses that I’ve played.. If I had to include a NSW course, it would probably be St Michael’s.

    would you add ocean dunes??

      @underthecard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a great course.. we will call it an ‘honourable mention’ in this case. It’s definitely a better course than several on this list but a ‘favourite course’ is quite different to measuring the best courses.

    guess you haven't played Bonville, Henry. The Cut would have made it for me too, well ahead of the bore-fest that is Barnbougle.

    • @underthecard
      @underthecard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Luke. Yes, you’re right. I haven’t made the trip to Bonville yet. A friend of mine says it’s his favourite public golf course in Australia. I’ve played The Cut and found the nine holes in the dunes to be sensational though the other nine holes were not as memorable. It’s still a fantastic public course though. Another course I haven’t played but suspect would have made the list if I’d played it is Newcastle Golf Club which I’ve only visited to film. I’ve also filmed at Mollymook’s Hilltop course and thought it was a beauty.

    Your videos are too predictable. You would be far more helpful doing best state by state…it’s a long drive to WA and can’t drive to King island or Tasmainia from the mainland where most of us live.
    Also how about hidden gems. I’m Victorian I went to SA last year Millicent golf club is definitely a hidden gem…golf in the forest.
    So many great courses in the country areas.

    Hmm. Nothing from NSW? Well, at least you're not being parochial.
