Thanks for the note. Rainy season here really does mean RAIN! Almost every evening for sure, and one does not leave the hatches open! I hope things are going well. VacationI Time is over and I'm about to get started on projects.
Way to go skipper! I can remember your insecurity sailing in the early episodes... Now.. oh well just ran aground a few times, yeah, I tend to run into the sandbars! Thanks for another enjoyable video.
I certainly plowed some mud out of the way in the river entrance. Another guy has since given me his tracks on his chart plotter so I can try to follow that next time. I know one guy that gets in with a 7 foot draft. So it can be done.
I'd been wondering if we'd ever be able to take our "new"-to-us CSY 37 to Rio Dulce. You confirmed my suspicions about the draft, but also proved it's possible. Maybe we'll go for it one day! Thanks for the video!
If you send me an email, I can send you a picture of my track on the Navionix…. And I’m sure a number of other folks would be happy to do the same to show where you need to drift left, and where you need to drift right. Consider also the Facebook group “Rio Dulce cruisers”. There are many many people here who have been in and out that canyon multiple times. Some of them have done it with 7 foot draft boats. And almost everybody saves their tracks, and they seem to be pretty willing to share.
Oh year. There are LOT of French and UK citizens here. Many have sailed across from Europe years ago and have a lot of sailing miles, but when they get here, they sorta' settle in and stick around.
I do plan to hire a carpenter to make new "washboard" companionway doors, and a local person to scrape and varnish the rails. There are some parts of hte rails that need replacement.
You can be sure that I’m watching. My gut feeling is that we will be okay here…. I guess we just have to wait a few more days to see what happens. The marina situation is that we’re moored securely to the dock, but our sterns are kinda’ sticking out there. Tomorrow I am going to look into throwing my spare anchor off the stern.
The marina is very nice and VERY reasonably priced. The marinas are about 25% of comparable cost in the USA. Food (at least the imported brands) will be expensive (same as USA pricing), but things like fruits/veggies are much cheaper...and eggs....things that are locally provided. At the marina, big burger lunch is about $5. So I'd say cheaper.
Good to see you living the dream. We met at VOG.
Thanks for the note.

Lisa, Ginger and I are very happy that you have made it all the way down to Guatemala. Enjoy the rest and then the adventures on land.
Hey Richard, it’s really good to hear from you. I’ve been watching your Facebook post and you guys are really moving!

Thanks! We'll be here for at least a few months to get through hurricane season, then off to the next destination.
I appreciate the comment!

Appreciate the comment! And glad to check out someplace new!
Probably a lot of teak trees around there if you wanted any of those kind of repairs.

Missing you po sir!
I miss you, too, Rose!

Looks great. Is it reasonably priced?

Never pass a bar isn't supposed to include sandbars, is it? Curious that you're not seeing mosquitos. Enjoy!
Hey Cap, how are things?
Hey there!
No complaints, but then again I haven't been doing much.
I'm going to get started on project work, though.
Any updates?
Hey there.
Sorry about the layoff.
Just got Ep. 124 out today!
What’s your draft?
6 feet.
@@skipjacksailing8986 I always loved those HAKE's but they went out of business if I'm not mistakin!
