Just used this video for my 2015 Camry LE. Thank you! FYI for others: - When doing the drivers side, I couldn't unplug the wires going to the buttons at 0:29. So instead, I unscrewed the housing so that they could fit through the opening in the trim and stay plugged in. - My pin for the handle did not look like a Y shape like 4:26, but a steel rod angled at the bottom. It needed to be fed through a hole in the actuator. You'll need to align the rod without being able to see it, before bolting it in.
My 16 year old daughter and I just followed the video and changed the actuator with one we bought on Amazon. Thank you for the tips! One thing that was challenging was reinstalling the door panel in the window area.... We ultimately removed the rubber seal and attached it to the door, then 'pushed' the panel against it until everything clicked in. Figuring out how to reinstall that part of the panel took the most time for us.
Thanks for this video. Helped a lot and saved me a lot of money. I will say putting the door panel back on was difficult for this first timer, everything else was pretty smooth.
Dude you are amazing! I'm going to be doing this on the drivers door. It's amazing how many tips and tricks you gave in just a short video. Many thanks indeed! 🍻
Love the vids Nick ! I wanted to always be an automotive mechanic at first but then I got the opportunity to become a Mechanic Apprentice for Heavy Duty Diesel at only 17 years old which is just crazy to me. It’s similar to automotive and I honestly would highly highly recommend you giving heavy duty diesel a shot some day even if it’s years from now, I guarantee you’ll love it as much as automotive if not more! Keep up the great work and hope you have a happy new year!
Possibly. You would have to pull the interior door panel off and look inside. It’s possible the linkage from the door handle inside came undone either at the handle or the door lock actuator shown in this video and pulling the handle is not actually doing anything. Also You would know if the linkage came undone based on how it feels compared to pulling the handle on a good working door.
This is a good video, but on the driver side you also need to line up the lock/unlock mechanism, this is impossible without removing it. What you need to do is the remove the part where you stick the key in: there is a small black plug on the side of the door at the same level as the outside door handle. When you remove it there is a small plastic phillips screw which you need to loosen up until the lock comes out and then you place the actuator in place and tightened, then put the lock back in place and tighten the previous loosened screw and put the plastic cover in place.
Bro Please help: My 09' Lexus Es350 keeps locking itself while driving or while it on running parked etc, on all doors. Replaced master window switch & still locks itself while driving or parked while on. Any idea?
If I replace the torque converter that has a recall or so on the 2012 Toyota Camry LE will it go bad again? It’s a $2,700 job at Ed Martin Toyota are they worth replacing
Quick question. I was able to successfully replace the front left passenger door actuator and it works now with unlocking and locking with the key fob. The only thing that doesn’t work properly now is when someone is on the passenger side and the door is lock and they go and open the door from the inside it doesn’t automatically unlock when before it did. Any idea what it can be? Or is it because it’s aftermarket? I checked everything and it all looks installed correctly.
Now what if all 4 of mine went bad at the same time? Does that mean its just the driver doors actuator or should i be replacing all 4? Or can i put a meter on them somehow?
I highly doubt all 4 door lock actuators went out at the same time, I would check the fuses first or rule out a faulty switch before replacing all 4 actuators. You can use a scan tool or a power probe to actuate them individually.
@@MrJrorlando100 it’s possible the metal rod or linkage from the key cylinder to the door lock came off or broke off. You would have to still pull the door panel off and take a look inside to see if everything’s connected and nothings dangling around.

Excellent video. I need to fix my drivers side door actuator. Thank You.
At my fleet shop, would do 2-3 door latches a week on gm-ford truck.
Sa z sa 😔
Lol i like how your just showing people how to do it at home no need to take it to stealership
Maybe he felt guilty about the 1.5 hrs he flagged on that six minute job and wanted to make up for it?
Hello great video my wife has a Camry 2016 everything works on her door but she can’t open from inside does she need this part for it to work?

I have a question? Can you go to school and work at a dealer at the same time?

Do you have a video on a 2016 HVAC Air Inlet Door Actuator replacement.
I do not. Sorry
Question would this be the reason my driver side door wont lock or unlock with the remote only by hand??
More than likely is the reason why.
Thank you i will check it out your video was so helpful
How about the door handle chrome replacement for 5th gen 4runner limited ?

Not a mechanic, but I would double check the green/white long cables shown at 2:10, since that is what connects the inside handle/lock to the actuator

I’m assuming the rear doors different from the front door actuator? I can’t swap it?
Different parts yes, same process though.
Is there a part number for the driver side door?
What about on a 2019 camry???
That was pretty simple!
Does this fix also apply to the 2014 camrys?
do i need the power tools or can i do it with just a screwdriver?
You don’t need power tools
You don’t reseal the weather panel with new sealant? Isn’t there a risk of water ingress?
No usually if it hasn’t been removed before it seals right back up. We do have the sticky stuff for when it needs it
What causes them to go bad? Wiring issue or internal fail?
Internal failure, Pretty common part to fail as the car gets older.
If my key does not open the car will switching this part solve that?
Are you talking about the key remote not unlocking the door or when you insert the key into the door and turn it does not unlock the door.
@@LetsDriftMedia inserting the key,It turns but will not unlock.

With a little more work and beer for a DIY job you can open them up and replace motor😉 good video though👍🏽
lol, thanks, yea working at the dealer we just replace, we never rebuild anything.
@@LetsDriftMedia facts. do you guys bank on wire repairs from rodents or animals?
We get that pretty often at this place, Those are the golden nuggets because usually its pretty easy money.
I would exchange beer with weed cars and beer don't mix well 🤣
I need to do this with my expedition!
Thank You.
It looks like in the Toyota dealer.
I replaced my actuator, but now my door lock fuse keeps blowing 😢
If it wasn’t doing that before and you didn’t pinch the wire harness to it you might have gotten a defective actuator.
made the mistake that a 2013 would be the same as a 2014 because they're the same body and interior. should've heeded the year. don't be like me. lol
Wow I’m surprised it wasn’t the same part too
