Hiro is one of the strongest characters visually in my opinion. Love the contrast with the black, red, and gold. He's massive, and has a very unique design, in terms of engines on Sodor.
The funnel looks extremely cool, Hiro now has that in my headcannon because why not?😅 Also Hiro and Stepney together looks great. Always love seeing engines from different countries together.
It's been around 3 years or so since you last did a video on a Japanese N scale model and this is a welcome return! I'm interested to see what kind of layout will come from the influence of a D51 with Bachmann N scale Thomas models.
Woah, I definitely thought the Oigawa N scale Thomas would be the the first Japanese n scale train you’d get, not Hiro 😅 This is a REALLY nice change of pace, enjoyed the custom too!
@4:36 The scale isn't actually too far off. British N Scale is built at 1:148, and Japanese N Scale is 1:150, so the visually silly size difference, is fairly prototypical!
Mega dope dude, you mentioned you still need to the face but out of curiosity do you plan to line him, (I think a tutorial on that in n-gauge would be interesting)
Personally not really, I kinda like the all black and it feels more natural to what he’d actually be. :) That being said I’m still between red wheels and other details, at the very least I hope to number and actually Thomas-ize him with some sentience haha
I got a Kato D51 a couple days before you posted this video! Her name is bosei and the only difference between her and your D51 is that she's the 2016-B model and I put numberplates on her
Even without it being Hiro it looks spectacular. He looks so right pulling a big goods trains on your layout. Out of curiousity I ask, are you going to do the wheels up in red or will they remain black?
Making Hiro in HO/OO is definitely more expensive. N-Scale goes for anywhere around 100 to 130 while HO/OO is around 250. Like holy frick, why the price jump? Also, the Giesl Ejector actually looks sick on the D51, so frick yes.
@canadaw.e6461 Honestly you’d be surprised, I find a lot that’s usually already in Canada or the U.S. on eBay haha. That’s usually where I get all my rolling stock personally if it’s not printed or from a friend. Rails Of Sheffield is always good too!! :)
@@lilythrrose Hiro has them in the show so I figured I’d reflect that on mine. That and if he ever were pulling actual Japanese stock or American he’d need it haha :)
Something that really bugs me about hiro is that lots of the gear on his boiler are missing, he has fictional gold boiler bands and, most importantly, he’s not the correct gauge. it just ticks me off very badly. Anyway, there happens to be a real D51 that was numbered 51 just like hiro. I know hiros number is based on his class number and so this is just a coincidence, but perhaps if Kato has a D51 that matches the specs of the real #51… 👀
“Day 2 of asking for help” Yo trainboy do you have any idea where I can find a good series accurate G scale face for sale I don’t have a 3D printer so got any ideas (edit 3: I forgot to mention that It was the Bachman large scale, Thomas Brand)

Truly the master of the railway
I like how this version of Hiro comes equipped with a Giesl and a all weather vestibule cab
Hiro is my personal favourite character & locomotive of the D51 class. Excellent work of this model 👍👍
Even if not complete, still looks good! Also best CGI character, amiright?
Absolutely. He and Victor are easily the best examples of how to for international characters into the show.
Yea love Hiro
Stephen and/or Glynn are better imo because they are very funny and an interesting idea for characters but if lie Hiro too.

..kinda fw the funnel-

It looks so good, running down the tracks!
Lets go hiro!
Yooo first 5 comments! ❤ Love the custom can't wait to see hero come along
He looks really good so far! I can’t wait to see what you’re able to do about the face!
Hiro? Cool. So is this going to be Hiro in working condition or is this going to be the patchwork Hiro?

Always great to watch a brand new TrainBoy video after school
NGL Bachmann should make both HO and N scale Hiro or D51. I do believe might fit.
I don’t think Bachmann’s much in the Japanese steam engine market so sadly likely not a D52 haha, a Hiro would be so cool though!! :)
I am indeed interested in this video
Beautiful looking model.
D51s are so magestic looking!
Agreed my friend!!
I literally plan to pick up a kato d51 set tomorrow or Friday 😂 this is perfect
Nice!
Hopefully I can get two of Kato’s upcoming HO D51,
One to stay as is, and one to become Hiro
Woah, I definitely thought the Oigawa N scale Thomas would be the the first Japanese n scale train you’d get, not Hiro 😅 This is a REALLY nice change of pace, enjoyed the custom too!
I would HIGHLY recommend katos C62 model
but hiro is a c51… why do you think he is number 51
@ThatPennsyFan I khow hiro I's a D51 class but remember what he mentioned in the video about Japanese locomotives
Now you’re legally obligated to make Astrotrain
Only if he can have a tender 👁️
@@ItsTrainBoy he does have one sometimes
Awesome video trainboy
Hiro 🇯🇵 of the Rails. 😊
レールのヒロ。
I’m holding out for a Hiro ‘til the end of the night.
Can’t wait to see you make Hiro

"Ooh! Who sat on your funnel?"
I love Japanese trains. My friend lives near a railway with its own steam engine
Beautoful so far! Where can I get the rolling stocks like that?
RWS accurate Hiro 😂, i love it.

Interesting engine to see
hai! as someone living in Canada, what way would you say is the easiest to get british style rolling stock across the pond?

Peter sam funnel lookin ahh🙏🏼
If I may ask, why did you keep the knuckle couplers on the front?
@@lilythrrose Hiro has them in the show so I figured I’d reflect that on mine. That and if he ever were pulling actual Japanese stock or American he’d need it haha :)
@@ItsTrainBoy Oh, I never noticed that in the show. Neat!
Looks good, but i have a ban on plastic wheels , plastic frogs and traction tires on my layout. My track stays cleaner twice as long.
I just realized isn't the D51 cape gauge or whatever JNR used? How tf did he run in Britain.
Yeah!!!!!!!!
I MIGHT be getting a Broadway Limited prr t1 in n scale one day :O
Konnichiwa Kato

It's a kids show its not for enthusiasts
@I get what you mean, but it’s not like he needs to have super important details missing.
His gauge isn't inaccurate, because a couple D51s were re-gauged to Standard gauge.
@@happyburger23 ohh yeah I forgot. Don’t think the real #51 was re-gauged, but ig that doesn’t matter since the number is just a coincidence.
@@happyburger23 the ones that went to Korea??
Huh he no2 have a japanese loco i like it
my hiro academia or whatever
if you have a d51 why not get a JNR Class C62, like from galaxy Express 999
Just a bit small
