How to Make Homemade Sauerkraut in a Crock

- Lets make some homemade sauerkraut! Everything you need to know to make some of that krauty goodness!! I used a 2 gallon crock in this video.
NOTE-- If adding liquid to your cabbage, its better to add a brine instead of plain water as not to dilute your salt content. Use 1.5 tablespoons of salt per 1 quart of water.
Its also probably not a bad idea to fill your water bladder with brine just in case it does leak.

This is the first time I have seen a water bag used as a weight - great idea. My grandmother used a brick - and chased mold. Glad I watched to the end.

I have a batch working right now. It will be 1 week old tomorrow. I like spicing it with dill and summer savory.
If you are low rent like me, you can use the crock out of a slow cooker. It may not be as big as you want, but it works.
