Imagine if the NHL had a USA born v Canadian born All Star 3 game series in the middle of the season, thats what State of Origin is. It has consistently been the best level of rugby , either code, i've seen over 30 years, its the NRL's Superbowl x 3 every year and the intensity is off the charts.
Yes his position is like the quarterback position its his job to find the right player to get through to score the try for his team if not do it himself and he is the goal kicker for the team too.
Yeah, what you are seeing is what we call a State of Origin game highlights of JT. QLD (Queensland) and NSW (New South Wales). These are the two Ruby League states in Australia, with each state having it's own Rugby league comp. Once a year, there is a three game series played (STATE OF ORIGIN). No matter what club teams players play for or what state comps, they select the best payers from both states to represent their state in this three game series and you won't find a tougher game of Rugby League or one with more passion than what you will find in a State of Origin game. You will usually see one game being played in one state, with two games in the other state and then they alternate each year. However, some times they take a game down to Victoria and then you get only one game each in Queensland and NSW. The kicking of a goal is called a conversion, if being kicked after scoring a try. The try is worth 4 points, the conversion adds another two points to it.
nrl is the greatest sport of all time... the way these guys present the game is the best.... from the commentator to the game play and the build ups is the best....
JT an Greg Inglis two goats and two different positions was good to have them in the QLD team. Also qld had a 9 year dominate period where they won the series 8-9 years in a row. This highlights is a 3 game series once a year off the best off the best players representing their state.
This year NSW won 2-1 an smashed qld scoreless an made a statement. But last year QLD made an upset to take the series out. From 2006 qld won every series till about 2013, overtime qld started losing greats like Thurston And Inglis an from there it has been back on forth with a series or two won in a row here an there! As last year qld being the underdogs an reporters an supporters saying this is the worse qld team in history with having new an young unexperienced players an still took the win! Showed how great Qld are!
State of origin is ALL STAR line ups. The Best in the world! Except unlike americans who dont take the ALL STAR games seriously. Its a series best of 3 taken very seriously!! Players will cry if they lose because they feel like they have let their entire state down. It's absolutely the pinnacle of Rugby league. Most are lucky to ever even find themselves in the jersey. But every now and again, we get a player or 2 that dominate this arena. These type of players will likely end up with a certain award given to a select few rugby players that surpasses even the Hall of fame. It's called Immortality. Currently there are only 13 immortals from 120 yrs of rugby league. Thurston will find himself on this list!!! Without a doubt

Good analogy but I'd say it's more like east coast v west coast

It's not the size of the man in the game, it's the size of the game in the man. JT proves that.
