    I was really hoping I could get away with the 265 (price wise) as opposed to the 965, but I really need that extra battery life for ultras such as 100 milers. But, the maps on the 965 are pretty sweet, so I guess I’ll just suck it up and open up my pocketbook and fork out the 💰 for the 965. 😊

    Thanks for review. I was very interested with screen possibilities. I love my forerunner 245 and it's screen solution. My husband has amoled screen in his smartwatch and I don't like it at all. I see in what you have shown, that this screen can be used at all time display mode, which is great. Often I have hands busy and I can't twist my wrist to check time. I didn't catch in the review though if brightness of the screen changes automatically in brighter conditions like phones do? Or you sit with one level u till you change it in brighter/dimmer? I wonder if they would ever come back to good old fashioned screens. I personally don't need super effective pixels in watch.

    I wear Fenix 3 HR since 2016 and still working well until now but I want to change to something smaller than Fenix. I got thought about taking 255 few years back, but still on hold until this 265 came up.
    The only drawbacks are I still trying to like the amoled screen though.
    It’s easier to look with the old screen, no need to flick, just like a side peek and you could see everything.
    But, the technologies, features, etc. sure the 265 as the latest product won.

    Thanks for the informative video, Des. I’m curious to know how the 255 and 265 fare when tracking heart rate while swimming. I’ve read that wrist based heart rate monitoring can be hit or miss in the pool. Does the higher grade heart rate monitor in the 265 provide more accurate readings while swimming? Knowing this would help me make a decision between these two watches. Thanks!

    Hi there! I am considering getting this watch and was wondering if you could clarify something about the music storage. Can I transfer podcasts from any podcast platform I use? For instance, if I download podcasts using Google Podcasts, can I transfer those to the watch and listen phone-free on a run? Or does it have to be from Spotify (and do I have to have a Spotify Premium account)? And a follow up question to the music feature is: Can you rewind and fast forward a podcast (like 10 seconds or so) directly from the watch? The answer to these questions would be extremely helpful! Thank you!

    Do you think the FR265 will be getting a golf update? Everything about the FR265 is perfect for the casual runner and fitness junkie, but no golf... And spending $150 more for the golf but then also having the extra features I do not need does not make sense either. Any thoughts?
    The Venu3 is also great for fitness, but does not have fitness readiness. Why can't they just make a "fitness" watch, and give it all the fitness features, instead of adding bits and pieces to each watch while leaving other things off.

    Regarding the comparison with 255, I have it and it happens quite often to forget when I charged it last, that is how good the 2 weeks battery autonomy really is. Considering that the FR255 screen is essentially always on, it seams 5 days are a step back.

      The Venu 2 Plus has the speaker and microphone but lacks a lot of the training feedback on the 265. I actually still see an audience for that watch that may not want or need the more advanced sports tracking but still wants good a smartwatch with solid fitness capabilities.

    During Activity such as Yoga, if screen is set to Always On does it turn off (fully black) after no movement for, say, 60 seconds?
    If so, when it resumes, is HR immediately up to date or is there a lag?

  • @aussiedicko
    @aussiedicko ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have had the Epix 2 Sapphire for over a year now and have started to realise I never use the maps function, as I rarely run trails and when I do not normally where I would need directions and I don't play golf, but love the AMOLED screen looking at the other Garmin watches out there it seems to me the larger 265 would suffice, for the main sports I would need, namely running, cycling and strength training.
    Am I missing anything obvious, I have looked at the comparisons and can't see any glaring must haves?

    • @texasjmd
      @texasjmd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m wondering the same. I am considering the forerunner 265, the Epix pro, or the Fenix pro. Unless I missed something, the only things I wouldn’t have with a 265 would be the mapping that you mentioned, the flashlight, the better heart rate sensor, and the more durable materials.

    Hi. I have a new Garmin Forerunner 265, and despite turning off the screen activation with the hand movement ("gesture" in the general use options), it keeps turning on. I've tried turning it off and on several times, but after a while it keeps doing it. What can I do? Thank you!

    I’ve been noticing that the elevation data from my 265 is very inaccurate! My old 235 was far more accurate for elevation. It’s really obvious on looped runs where it varies wildly for the same spots on each loop! Not sure what to do about it.

    i buy and like the watch; little bit more accurate gps and hr
    But one big CON:
    In interval runs, in recovery time i don’t see how much intervals we done(like on 245), for example 8/10; sometimes I am not sure like today, very hot, Z5 running; BUT it is very important to know if you want to give 100% your self in for example last two or last interval

    Hi Des. Thank You.I have the 955 and have been testing a 265 the past 4 days. My main issue to date is legibility during activities. During activities I find that the AOD itself is not bright enough and the gesture is not sensitive enough thus in has to turn ones arm further to activate the brighter display which is then visible. This means it is not as easy to glance at information during activities as with the MIP display.Did you have a similar experience at all?

    • @slimpickens8589
      @slimpickens8589 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm looking to buy either the 955 or the 265. Since you've used both, which do you prefer? Your comment above sounds as if the 265 display could be an issue outdoors in the sun.

    • @stephenrobinson4449
      @stephenrobinson4449 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@slimpickens8589 Hi Tim. It's a challenging decision. The 955 does have better navigation features. If I had to decide today, I would take the 955 over the 265 for the following reasons: Starva/ Garmin Live segments on 955 , Maps on 955, Much better activity screen visibility at a glance in sunlight on the 955. Sure the 265 has a nice bright Amoled screen, but for day to day use the 955 screen never struck me as being an issue. I find with the amoled screen (also on the Epix that I borrowed for a run. while ago) is less visible taking quick glances in the sunlight , its as if one has to move the arm more and then concentrate better to see the information. The sensitivity of the glance movement cannot be adjusted (at this stage). The fact that the screen on the 265 (and I believe the 965) are slightly curved at the edges (unlike the Epix) the glare is even more noticeable. After testing the 265 I went back to the 955 and to my eye the ease of seeing activity data was noticeable on the 955. I borrowed a 265 over the weekend and on my Long Run Sunday which was very early and mostly in the day , the display on the 265 was better than in the sunlight. I haven't been able to try a 965 so I am not sure if the different screen size there makes any difference. The 265 is much lighter and more compact though , I could notice that. On the 955 I changed the stock band to one from Amazon (similar to an Apple Nike sport loop) and it made a huge difference to how the watch sat on my arm and the level of comfort especially for sleeping. Good Luck

    I've bought the forerunner 255 (non music) just yesterday and when I received the notification of this video I thought I'll need to cancel my order. However, I don't feel that the amoled display and the training readiness feature justify the 100€ price bump over the 255 music(UE) and even more the 150€ price bump over the 255 non music as for me it's not a needed feature because I need to take my phone with me regardless.

      Me too. I bought the 55 two days ago (very happy with), but was looking at the 255, local store did not have one. I prefer the transflective display on the 55/255. Garmin may keep this display for the cheaper 55 series for the next model. I think Garmin will phase these displays out, which is a shame.

    I have an issue with the heart rate accuracy. When I’m m riding on my bike indoors with my smart trainer I use a chest strap and my Garmin 840. For some reason the watch refuses to show accurate numbers so I just take it off. I can be doing an interval and have my heart rate in the 170s and the watch (not using any features, just sitting on my wrist) shows like 70. I’m not sure why but it happens always. Very strange
