I just use a siphon tube that has a jiggler ball valve on the end to get siphon flowing and it works great. No flammable rag at the end.

Or you can pay someone to do the whole job. It's even easier.

Geeeez, for 15 years I am using the regular method! Thanks a million!!!! And I do have a fish tank at home, so I should think about this trick! :)

This is amazing! I just stuggled with a new 5 gallon can and pontoon boat and thought there has to be a better way. The new cans suck compared to these we had growing up!

Haha try turning the pipe on the jerry can around so that the vent is facing up

True vent up would help but it still breaks your back lifting 6gal at odd angles. This method saves your back and less spills

Part of the problem is you have the yellow nozzle installed upside-down. If you were to spin it around 180 degrees, the fuel flows much more smoothly.
The smaller passage is the air vent and should be *above* the larger passage to allow air to enter the container. Of course, they don't supply instructions for this, and I agree the new gas cans are a PITA compared to the older style.

The only problem with this method: What happens when the tank on the boat becomes full and the fill tank is still 1/2 full? You spill gas everywhere trying to get the fuel out of the hose. Been there, done that.

Yes, that is a big problem, and I have had that happen to me too. I get around it by watching the fuel guage carefully and when I'm close to full I listen to the sound of the tank filling up. If you do it enough times you can hear the change in pitch of the tank filling to the top (similar to when you fill a water bottle and you hear the gurgling sound raise in pitch).

I'd rather leave the jerry on the dock. But as long as its higher than the boat would still work. Nice hack!

*I used this on my 2006 Troy Bilt Pony (MTD) tractor **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend it was an easy swap. It's very light aluminum and seems sturdy enough so far; I assume you really only need to replace the idle pulleys once so if these wear out anytime while I have the mower I'll update the reivew.*

The example of the new Jerry Can is flawed here, the spout is upside down. The smaller part of the tube is where the air escapes if used properly.

Use a Jiggler siphon tube. Easy!Fast! Cheap! Neat! No need to hold the can!

True holding that can is a pain but you need to work out. Sad state that your lower back is tired from that.

Buy a trailer. Stop at the gas station on the way to the lake. Problem solved.
