I agree with Brian that the jump in ratings last week was Tony's dud of an announcement. The booking gets worse and worse and Tony's running out of gimmicks to slap at the wall to get numbers up. MjF feels less important as champion then when he was on the rise to the top.

I can't think of any champion that the people were satisfied with besides Jericho when aew started and I guess moxley. It's like when he pulls the trigger n makes someone champ he has no clue what to do with them after. Mjf sucks as champ unfortunately

It's very telling when someone who is experienced and knows what they're talking about can come up with something way better than what's on tv. Jim does this constantly and effortlessly.

The Dynamite in the middle of Jan 1-18-2023 was very boring. Nothing of note happened.
I want to clarify a bit about Blackpool wrestling back in the days of Regal and Big Daddy. Blackpool was a health resort originally then became more of what the UK calls a "pleasure beach", or somewhat like amusement parks in the states but on the shore. Nowadays its famous for the roller coasters. It's drawn from Manchester for over a century. Manchester is a rough city by English standards but especially in the 70s and 80s. There was shoot style wrestling under tents still, and after the docks and industry in Manchester closed down, it was quite a rough place for a couple decades. That spilled over into Blackpool. They drew from all over the depressed and deindustrialized areas of North England, particularly Liverpool and Manchester. There was definitely an undercurrent that was quite hard. As for televised wrestling there, Big Daddy was champion for what, decades? If you proved yourself in the Blackpool/fairground circuit you got to move up to job to Big Daddy and be on TV, which is exactly what Regal did. The circus style wrestling that died out in the USA was still pretty prevalent in the UK and Germany. And I mean if you wanna see what that produced look at Fit Finlay, Dynamite Kid, and Regal. Davey Boy. Gentleman Chris Adams. C'mon Jim don't knock British wrestling. Gentleman Chris Adams trained Stone Cold and Scott Hall and brought the superkick to the States. He came up amateur wrestling and jobbed to Big Daddy. All phenomenal, real shoot style talents.

I'm not saying he could be the biggest star in wrestling, but if they would just let Big Bill be a heel on his own, he would be so much better. His feuds with Enzo and Danielson showed that. As long as he's just Big Bill, some big guy in just another stable, he's just a CVS version of Test.
I thought Tony's big announcement was a match with Ariel Helwani. That would actually get me to watch AEW for the first time ever.

I have no idea why the Observer crowd hate on the NWA so badly when pretty much everything wrong with it, everything I think and apparently by their votes, the majority of them think, is not only present but magnified within AEW. Say what you want about Tyrus, but AEW has double duty Pockets after solo Uno in a main event and is still using Luther in 2023, even if it is on Dark/Dark Elevation.
NWA has way too many title belts for a company not using a territory/partner/member model, AEW is worse. NWA has an extraneous women's division, but the historic two are distinct. AEW's worse all three of it's are interchangeable beyond name and defending champion. NWA is having trouble getting over some prospects like Mims, but these are writing themselves at this point aren't they?
Danielson has felt to me like he's checked out. He's just on for the ride. He looked invested up until he was put into the BCC. To think this guy was red hot for a while in WWE....it's just sad

Jim's gonna' wear out the Fast Forward button on his DVR watching last night's Dynamite. It'll either be the longest review (b/c his head will most likely explode and the justifiable rant could go on for ages) or he could just say "F it, I'm done!" Regardless, can't wait for the next JC Experience!
Edit: Since initially writing this comment, I've now seen the Twitter threads about the refs holding the ladder, Bryce's response and JC's response / point. I now predict this will be the longest / rantiest (justifiably so) review of AEW Dynamite. Still can't wait for the JCE!

The MJF promos are getting stale. I'm sorry. They are just him baiting sympathy heat. Always. And it's a different origin story weekly. I mean he does good promos with the verbage but the same promo completely worded different like ppl do not notice these things
I'd be interested to see if Tony's previous announcements also caused a ratings spike & how much of a crater the following week's episode fell into.

Another not so stellar card this week too. Been a bad 2 weeks going into a ppv. Almost hard to believe aew had sooooo much momentum after the Cole/Danielson & Punk debuts.
Agree, I was actually excited for AEW when those debuts happened, they were actual "game changer" signings unlike the many "game changer" signings declared by their fans. AEW royally botched it.

One of the main problems I have seen in this promotion is that it is just going in fast forward. And no, I don't mean Jim's remote. Every angle, every match, every promo is in fast forward. Just like Tony's mind. If he laid off the stuff maybe it would be a bit more coherent. Lay off the shit, Tony!
While people are still waiting for AEW mangement to become a quality Pro Wrestling promotion and it does still have potential, mangement for Impact Wrestling has been delivering consistent quality in-ring action.
Impact actually catches my eye every now and then (Bully Ray returning, Mickie James Farewell Tour, Mike Bailey) they need a new presentation that doesn’t make them look minor league

@@duckmercy11 you have to honestly compare Impact Wrestling (2022-2023) to All Elite Wrestling (2022-2023) and ask yourself which promotion has given better in-ring action, better booking and better story lines that pay off.

Got off scot free from what? She used a valet service. That valet service couldnt figure out whos car it was, they checked the glove box to see the registration. She had a gun in her glove box. There was no law broken. They arent the police or government, they dont need a warrant. Especially since she gave them the keys in the first place
@@randemness2680 Reaching into the glove compartment is proper protocol? A valet drives, parks, then brings the car back for the owner to pick up. The only need to access a glove compartment is for the hopes of finding a WALLET, and not for any ID which would’ve already been on with Sonya.
Also, what would be the need ID for within the car to sift through and search for it? Sonya can identify her own car when it’s brought back to where she dropped it off.

I like the Acclaimed personality wise but haven't enjoyed any of their matches so far, they don't look ready in ring to me but I enjoy them on the mic

AEW Dynamite has gotten so fucking boring in my opinion i honestly hope that CM Punk Returns when he gets healthy the show needs stars the elite and orange Cassidy ain't it.

I'm with Jim on a lot of things, but I think he's missing what other ppl get about Pockets. Let me explain. First, to me, wrestling hits on characters who can represent a subculture that otherwise had no champion in the ranks of the squared circle. I agree with Jim with a lot he says about Pockets, but I do think he misses how much this subculture is really into him. He's very millennial. Through and through. And that's a type of fan moving forward that will want to see something of or like that type of ironic or whatever it is thing. I don't fully get it myself, but I'm aware enough to see that his shtick does hit with a cult following of sorts.
