Thank you both for this insightful conversation. The notion of “armchair pilgrimage” helps me to make sense of my feelings of connection to Dean Robert and the Garden Congregation.
This is such a blessing, Fletcher! Thank you for staying in touch with us. It couples with and undergirds the Garden Congregation videos which give us daily strength, encouragement and inspiration. I wish you all of that and more, surrounded by love as you continue your journey. 💕🙏🏻
Dean Robert was such a teacher at heart. He shared so naturally, and knew so much, of both creation and Creator. His daily ministrations, so beautifully filmed by you, Fletcher, meant so much to me. I don't comment much, but I have immense gratitude to you both. I thank God for you ❤
So lovely to see your film this morning Fletcher. Good to know that you are well. You are certainly blessed with so many beautiful memories of your beloved Dean Robert and Canterbury Cathedral. To continue in this way is a great comfort to all members of the Garden Congregation. Thank you.
Lovely to listen to your conversation in such a beautiful place. One thing that’s not so often talked about is what a wonderful teacher Dean Robert was. His knowledge and experience of the Scriptures was awe inspiring; and he noticed links between various parts of Scripture that were different but at the same time should have been obvious to those of us who know our Bibles fairly well. The story of James and John asking to sit on the left and right of Jesus in glory being just one example. But such is the wonder of the internet Robert is still able to teach us!
I have just tried to touch on the same, what a marvellous teacher Dean Robert was; but you have said it so much better. Blessings to you from Maryland 🙏🏼
Thank you for this beautiful video and connection. I am currently following the videos of morning prayer from 2021. They accompany me on this pilgrimage through Advent. They are timeless. I hear Dean Robert speak to me as if in the present. He truly was a Saint amongst us. 🙏
Lovely surprise to wake up to this morning! Thank you Fletcher and Ryan for sharing your hearts and for keeping the Garden Congregation in them 🙏🏻🌹 Beautiful setting and pup 🐕🤍
Worship from Darien in Connecticut and what a wonderful welcoming from Ryan and you too Fletcher. The view reflects the beauty of life with the waters of life and the light of life to share how you really feel in your recovery on your own pilgrim's journey in sharing the comfort of your heartfelt memories and spiritual reflection of Dean Robert.Enjoy the great family comfort and spirit to help you heal and renew your inner well being.God bless you in all that you do for this present day and always.
Fletcher, dear DR taught me the importance of prayer and Bible study morning, noon evening, and night. I hope Fletcher you can teach us some principles of gardening and landscaping and integrating animals into the gardens either in gardens you visit or eventually in your own. God bless you and lead you dear Fletcher.
Thank you again Fletcher for this interview . These interviews help us to get-to know you better.. We are so blessed to have all the past GC UTube videos to watch & see our Dear Robert & hear his wonderful messages which were always so comforting. We share in-your grief Fletcher each in our own way🙏
Thank you both for this marvellous conversation. 🙏 Your continuing to include the Garden Congregation in your life is a gift to so many people, Fletcher 🙏
I've been writing a comment for an hour, that was just lost by my feeble, ancient fingers striking an errant key, alas. And now, as caregiving duties call, I cannot begin to re-create it. So, for now, here are just my hopes for yours to be a safe journey home, a safe journey onward, dear fellow. God bless you for taking time to share this special, last reflection from our shores, before returning to the U.K. Our hearts go with you, of course, filled with gratitude for all you've done for us, even amid your own heartache. Please remember: you are treasured; you are loved.
Thank you so much sharing your hearts and feelings with us ❤ Dear Fletcher, You have inherited our beloved Dean Roberts voice and talking style and it's so comforting to listen to you.. 🩷🤍 And what a wondeful backround .. sea and water - mark of eternity 🩵🌅🧡 Thank you again being with us 🙏🏻❤
Such a beautiful backdrop, a kind of peaceful sea garden to hear about pilgrimage, worship, everyday life, & fond reminiscences of beloved Dean R. Thanks for continuing the GC life ❤😻💜
Thank you dear Fletcher, for respecting and loving our unique and beautiful congregation. I, am sure along with many, we wait to hear from you and those who have experienced GC with us. I can envision so many opportunities going forward. I am coping. Hearing from you, Ryan and others you have met along the way, has continued our loving lifeline to each other.
Fletcher, thank you so much for these posts & recordings, because you matter to us all & we wish to walk alongside you. You wondered what it was like for us in CG seeing you come round from behind the camera, to in front: answer to that is fantastic, as for so long us in CG wanted to meet the genius behind the video, plus to meet DR soulmate. No wonder he fell in love with you, you are a beautiful soul. We are so pleased DR had you in his life. Prayers surrounding you. God bless.
I began listening and learning from Dean Robert and you Fletcher during Covid. Having been lucky enough to visit Canterbury in the 1990’s, I loved having a little frame of reference and have wished to come back to see settings from Robert’s lessons. I will miss the lessons from Robert….what a smart and humble man! Please know like many, I keep you in my prayers.
What a wonderful start to a workday! Thank you so much for this Remembrance. Glad you also saw the goodness of Rev. Robert Willis's passing in such a fortuitous place among friends. That struck me last month also. I hope your journey on is a fine one. He brought so much joy to all of us. We were only in Canterbury overnight on the glorious Summer day '81 of the Royal Wedding. We stayed across the way from the Cathedral. As Bishop Barron said recently, there are no coincidences with God.
Thank-you Fletcher for filming this conversation you had with Ryan about your life with Robert ,so many wonderful memories of DR .I wish you a good journey home my thoughts and prayers are with you especially during this Advent season and the coming days love and God Bless from Joanne & Chris❤
I’m watching from Savannah, Ga. near the other Darien here in Georgia. Good to see Fletcher. We are so privileged that Robert and Fletcher have brought to us in America the spirit of Canterbury which is universal. We are blessed by their gift of presence which still blesses us. So glad Fletcher continuing the connection.Thank you
Thank you so much! We hope and pray that you will continue to offer your guidance, artistry and creativity to those of us in The Garden Congregation. With deep thanks for everything you have done for us, together with Dean Robert, and hopes for the future. We watched you every single day during covid until the Dean's retirement. We felt that if you could get out into the rain and cold, the sun and warmth, we could also join you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks for your ministry, devotion, and service. This is a lovely reflection. God speed, Fletcher, in your pilgrimage of love! Eagerly watching God work through you to serve the higher purposes. 😺
Dear Fletcher, you are home now in the UK, and I can only imagine how hard a homecoming it is, where you have had to live Dean Robert's absence all over again. I am so glad that you have had Lily and Leo and Tiger to welcome you, as well as countless friends. Thank you so much for this last US video, for now, as well as for loving the Garden Congregation and wishing to continue carrying us forward. I have just given myself the gift of listening again to Dean Robert's reading of A Christmas Carol. I am so thankful for both of you and send blessings and much love. Harriet
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Wonderful to see you on this side of things, Fletcher. And if I don't praise Him, the rocks gonna cry out....!
What a lovely beginning to this Tuesday morning in Oregon! Thank you, Fletcher for this opportunity to meet another person who has been a friend to both you and Dean Robert. Be well and in peace of heart.
Love these ongoing videos. Hope they are helping you to heal Fletcher! They are definitely helping me too. I am so grateful for you and the strength that you have!❤
Dear Fletcher, I am thinking of you and the Dean on this New Years Day. May you have peace and continued strength going forward in this journey. ❤ Blessings to you.
I am so encouraged to see your post, Fletcher. God's blessings upon the continuation of the Garden Congregation videos... the world benefits from such wonderful examples of Christ's love, peace, creativity, and wonderous natural creations (including the beautiful Labrador 🥰). Thank you.
Thank you Fletcher for this recording. I visited Canterbury in 1988 I am just sorry I did not manage to visit while you and Dean Robert were there. It was so good to have Robert's daily leading of MP on line for two years. Also appreciated all your photography of nature and of course the cats ! May our Lord keep you in his love and care.
Thankyou so much for this conversation and blessing...Im in NZ and fully committed to my local church however I will still follow the Garden Congregation...where ever it will lead and in what ever form. Thankyou Fletcher for your bravery and courage.
Good morning Fletcher thank you for keeping the congregation alive and Robert’s memory alive. May God provide you with the wisdom and strength to carry on .
Fletcher - your conversation with your friend from St Luke’s church - brought a smile to my face. I’m so very glad that you’re adapting to dear Dean Robert’s death - I see my ongoing prayers for you with some answers! Because it’s what we do, isn’t it. We adapt to our losses, especially when we are forced to let go of those we so deeply love. With four children plus spouses and eight grandchildren, I remind myself frequently that those I love so much are just “on loan” from God. I’m thankful you have so much support - makes a world of difference. Hope you sense my support from afar! Take good care. ♥️♥️🌺🌺
Thank you again for another warm and insightful conversation. Regarding virtual church, I'm very much in the "both and" camp, and the Covid shut-down made me realise how important it is to gather together in a real, physical community. But I also enjoy -- cherish -- the amazing teaching that is available online. I've taken to watching the Rev'd Up team from New Canaan, whom I discovered through DR's appearance with them. Fletcher, I know about that roller-coaster -- I was on it for a while. May God bless you.😊
@monikacalladine4085 Yes, I just love them! And having a teaching on the coming Gospel lesson is such good preparation for the sermon in physical church. A great idea, so well presented.
Thank you, Fletcher, for continuing these talks. I’m not quite sure where you find the energy to meet these demands, considering how recent and deep your personal loss. Nevertheless, you have your own unique gifts & insights to share, and I look forward to hearing you.
Dear Fletcher, as you gently move in front of the camera now, this Garden Congregant feels the sense of intimacy that Robert conveyed each time we “met” for MP. His genuineness is reinforced by your reflections of him as you knew him. It must be terribly difficult for you to speak about him in the past tense. Do know that the GC absolutely shares your grief. I pray that you will grace us with more conversations as you did with Rev. Ryan in the outdoors and with a sweet dog…
What I have loved about the Garden Congregation has been the opportunity to learn more about the Bible and the church. Physical church provides the opportunity for in-person fellowship and worship within a formal service. The Garden Congregation brought me a better understanding of the Bible and worship of God’s creation as reflected in nature and the animals that were an integral part of each daily program. It also exposed me to history and important figures in history and art, particularly music. I hope that you are able to continue with the Garden Congregation, Fletcher, perhaps with guest speakers who join you?
Yes, I too share these thoughts, but I also want to say please don't let our desires stifle you, or box you into a corner, Fletcher, leaving you trapped by a sense of duty to the GC. The GC developed through DR and you in response to the constrictions of Covid. Your Covid videos evolved in a way neither Dean Robert nor you could have anticipated. So we must allow you to move freely to wherever each day's new beginning takes you. And if we the GC are privileged and honoured by your grace allowing us to also continue moving forward with you, then that will be an undeserved gift to us, not our right to receive just because we are the GC. Sensitive parents know they need to let each of their children grow and flourish according to that child's unique attributes. Some plants relish being in full sun, where others would shrivel, struggle and even die. Some plants need to be in the shadows to be at their stunning best. So my wish for you, dear Fletcher, is that we the Garden Congregation let you move, and move again and again, to wherever you find you are developing best. If that includes continuing to share on TH-cam, it will be to us like enjoying the perfume from a damask rose. But a rose that does not have a scent to share will be spectacularly beautiful in its own unique way, perhaps through the peony shape of its flowers, or the vibrant colour of its petals. I wish for you to be beautifully you, Fletcher, unconstrained by our hopes or expectations - just as your Polar Bear was who he was by unconsciously insisting on being his unique self, perpetually uninfluenced by what others thought he "should be".
p.s. I too may feel I would like you, Fletcher, to continue making TH-cam videos similar to those we have all become used to. But they were born in, and because of, another time. So I don't mean to "tell off" any of my fellow GC members for their views - who am I to judge? No, I simply want to ADD an additional expression of desire for you, Fletcher, to feel and to be free to go in whatever directions this new beginning takes you.
@@Aa.Rr.2023 Beautifully and lovingly said; and I know all of us GC-ers share the hope that, just as he did in collaboration with DR in adding his own unique gifts to enhance each "Morning Prayer", Fletcher will give himself permission to do the same in defining where his personal pilgrimage wends, next. Every so grateful for what has already been given, our goodwill is his, always, whether his future plans and purpose means continuing to share this Garden--or moving on to create others uniquely his own. God bless and keep you, dear friend.
Thank you so much for your continuing the garden constitution even though it must be very difficult to be without the support of Robert. Please continue as I have found your recent videos very helpful and encouraging.
Dear Fletcher Just heard you say you would like to keep the GC videos going. Please, please do so, as it is such a help and comfort to us all and we would miss it very much. I have been a member for years and you and Robert were such a help through the time of Covid and also personal difficulties in my life. I miss him very much as I know you do too. God bless you.

Thank you (all my YT comments begin with that I guess) all 3, "never film with animals" WC Fields used to say, and he was wrong. It's a pleasure to have the online in addition of course to the in-person, and we take Canterbury with us to church every Sunday now, having done so since the pandemic eased. We are also delighted to find a man albeit from England, who likes I-95, AKA the great Parking Lot of the East Coast. ;-) The other week, Bishop Gene Robinson preached at the National Cathedral, he of the infamous "gay wedding" that should not have been as big a deal as it was, mind you when he and his partner split there was no talk of it and probably no comfort for either him or his partner, which is a shame. It is something that should not matter, yet some people are still stuck on it and I do not understand why. May God enlighten them quick because the rest of the world is moving on beyond that so-called issue. God bless you and all of us here in the GC Happy New Church Year!😊

Thank you (all my YT comments begin with that I guess) all 3, "never film with animals" WC Fields used to say, and he was wrong. It's a pleasure to have the online in addition of course to the in-person, and we take Canterbury with us to church every Sunday now, having done so since the pandemic eased.
We are also delighted to find a man albeit from England, who likes I-95, AKA the great Parking Lot of the East Coast. ;-)
The other week, Bishop Gene Robinson preached at the National Cathedral, he of the infamous "gay wedding" that should not have been as big a deal as it was, mind you when he and his partner split there was no talk of it and probably no comfort for either him or his partner, which is a shame. It is something that should not matter, yet some people are still stuck on it and I do not understand why. May God enlighten them quick because the rest of the world is moving on beyond that so-called issue.
God bless you and all of us here in the GC Happy New Church Year!😊
Thankyu so much
