I have played live with a similar guitar with no major noise issues. I love p90s. They are just a nice middle ground of meat but with a brighter sound

I’m with you. From time to time I pull out my P90’s SG, play a few tunes, then remember why it’s collecting dust. The P90’s?… one trick pony? Possibly. That’s kinda what I’m feeling.
However, that ONE trick is pretty special if you can dial it in. That being said, just need more versatility with these wedding, corporate, one nighter gigs I’ve been playing. Stratocaster seems to feels right in the pocket for me, and covers all the bases come show time. Just my opinion though.
    Thanks, Ernest in Lexington, KY

Hi Brad. I agree. The guitar looks very cool. Love the color too, but I've never been able to get into p-90's either. I owned an older p-90's SG, and after messing with it and trying different amps pedals with it, I just never could get comfortable with it. The last p-90 guitar I had was a gold top LP about 15 years ago. Man, I really wanted to love that thing, but after messing with the setup (pickups), and playing it for a few months, It just wasn't for me. Lots of players that play them and I love how they make them sound, but I could never get comfortable with one myself.
Sometimes that happens. Gear that others use with great success, just maybe isn't for you.
I also agree about modding guitars, pickups etc. In the 80's it was mod, mod, mod. Now a day, if I can't get a guitar setup and sounding the way I like, instead of swapping PUPs, I just sell it, so it doesn't lose any value. lol The next owner may love it. It happens.
Oh also. I just ordered one of those Ibanez chameleon guitars to play around with. They do look awesome. lol should be here next week.

P90 Imo are a perfect Pickup. Stuck a p90 rail meant for the neck into my strat in the bridge position because it had lower gain than the bridge model with two gfs vintage singles middle and neck and omg.
Love that guitar. Have 135 dollars into it.
The gfs singles blew away my custom shop fenders to my ears. Or I don't like fat 50's

You can get a Variable Impedance Boost that changes the sound of pickups without actually changing pickups (they say), I havent bought one yet. A company from Germany that hand makes their pedals makes one called a VIB. I have a couple of their pedals. The pedal maker is OKKO, I have their Diablo Gain Plus pedal and play every note through their OKKO Coca Compressor pedal which is a studio grade optical compressor, simple 2 knob unit that also helps with settling down unruly pickups

    • @BillyBlaze7
      @BillyBlaze7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@badbrad You bet, since I havent owned the VIB pedal I don't know anything other than what they claim. But the Coca does help with noisy pickups. Another idea is to use a Line Conditioner. that cleans the electricity coming into your rig, I use the Tripplite LCR2400 rack mounted unit and its been worth every penny protecting my gear and cleaning the electricity into my gear. Good luck with it bro

Start messing with the noise you’ll begin to step on the tone. If you’re happy with how it sounds don’t change it. I use a TC Electronic Sentry noise gate. You can really dial it in for subtle noise suppression. But a little noise is expected.

Gfs believe it or not makes a fantastic p90.
As does Dylan does tone. Big price difference but I love bang for the buck.
Only guitar I have done that covers bucket and strat is micheal kelly patriot supreme. Two gfs alnico 5's
Split with a treble bleed mod orange drops and a small resistor on the ground for the split of the coils kills the hum and make them sound exactly like a killer p90.
But take the guitar apart and paint it with shielding pain. Check and cleanup the wiring if needed, sometimes humans miss things is it grounded right?
    They shouldn't be that noisy.

I have a Gibson LP Special with P90’s its way down the line of my gigging LP’s. However sometimes I get a wild hair and break it out. the noise is aggravating. I just step on my tuner pedal at the end of the song or roll my volume off. Just wait until you get it in a club with bad power. You will be fighting it all night and telling yourself this thing has to go.
