I believe you may have given me the cure for my seasonal depression! I live in Northern Michigan, and am an avid native plant gardener. I really miss gardening during our cold winter. I think this is just the ticket!
this video was too important for me since I always try to make mini terrariums using my mom's kitchen containers, most of the times they fail. but now i am making a new medium size one and I really want to to last ❤
I am always impressed by the teacher's best terrarium works. How to water a terrarium. Can LED lights be left on 24/7? I have a lot of questions about whether the terrarium lid is completely a nuisance, or whether the space is left from the beginning, or whether the lid is opened once a day to ventilate. Please give me a good answer. I will continue to appreciate your work. Thank you.

I love watching you create. I've had no success with miniature terrariums. I think for the most part is that I've not got the right plants or healthy moss. Thanks for the clip.
A thrill to find another who loves this hobby, although I am far from being active enough, due to too many other things. I do not think the dead two are lost at all, rather the opposite, they all look wonderful. I have only made a few, often disappointed that the moose grows so fast smothering other smaller plants. Yet I only trimmed twice and found it hard to be drastic enough to make it survive. I was trying to make sections of landscape in miniature, so small scales were important too. I bought larger glass domes with one side opening and one small drain hole. I also used many more different sands and rocks from their environment. I will try again, and have only to find more varied containers. I think they would be great presents, yet expect they will be neglected! Thank you for sharing and your process, I noticed you use a lot of water, yet most of your plants like it. I live in Sweden, so they have extremely mossy forests with too many moss types to count. You have found a kindred spirit in me, or rather I in you! I do have some clay soil for aquariums, so will use a little, as I know that have a fare amount of food for most plants and is made for use with water. I will see if I can get hold of such a large bottle of the glue, here you only see tiny amounts. I will pop by to see how your doing and follow you. 🙏
Hey bro, I have a challenge/request for you. Get a 10 or 20 gallon tank, use your awesome design and scaping techniques, and make a snail paradise? Do you like snails? Do you use live animals, like springtails?
Moss spores are everywhere so if you can get some soil from a garden or some potting mix and keep it well watered with adequate light, you'll be able to grow your own. I guess it also depends where you live and what the climate is like.
I was recently gifted a tiny art toy terrarium (palm-sized) with nothing but gravel and moss. (And a plastic decoration) I'm entirely new to this field but having kept aquaecapes in the past, I can't help worrying how this could possible last longer than a few weeks😂 I learned that moss doesn't absorb moisture or nutritions from the root, so does that mean this combination of gravel and moss is good to last?😢
I’m new to this terrarium hobby and i was wondering where to put my closed and open terrariums. I thought of putting it next to my window (the windows has privacy stickers on it). But some say not to put it next to the window. And i don’t have led lights so i gave up that idea, any help please?
@@TheUrbanNemophilist In my experience a tiny bit tends to remain. I guess it is not significant for most people. But I had terrible problems w/ white slime killing the plants & clogging the filters in my fish tanks. I worked hard to "cycle the tanks" but never got it right. I think maybe there are bacteria or fungus spores in my environment that most people do not have to deal with. But I have had success with sealed plant terrariums in the past. Now I'm thinking about making a terrarium with springtails for the first time. Which species of springtails do you recommend?

Glad it was helpful! Thanks
That's actually the important question no one usually adresses!
Thank you for this useful information about how to ensure success with a miniature terrarium.

@@TheUrbanNemophilist Sir, thank you very much for your valuable answer. We will support you together in the future. Thank you.
Very inspirational. I think small or nano terrariums would suit the small space I have to display them.
Add spring tails to the ones with leaves and wood they controll mold

How is this even possible to make such a beautiful thing ❤

Si no pone uno los bichitos dentro del terrarium q acá se llaman cochinillas pero son muy grandes. No sé mantendría el terrarium?
Mealy bugs are pests. These are springtails and they are beneficial for terrariums.
Your work is amazing. A pleasure watching them.
Thank you
Это волшебно🧚👍👍👍Хоть я не могу перевести вашу речь,но интуитивно все понимаю.
Thank you. You can use auto subtitles.
@@TheUrbanNemophilistThanks for the hint! Found this function👍💚
I made two ~10 ml terrariums. 6 months later, they are doing awesome 😁
How to take care of the terrarium? How often do we need to water? How much light do they need?

Yes
Thank you, very nice video. The real problem for me is not finding jars with transparent lids...
Thank you. You could use a piece of glass or acrylic cut to size for lid. A shrink wrap also works. Or just use the container on its side.
geat informative video!!!! as usual love ur builds...do native terrariums also last this long???
Thanks. It will depend on several factors. It may last long if conditions are favourable.
They are all just amazing, thanku
Thank you
I love this one too.
awesome, very inspiring, how/ where do you get the springnails?
Thanks. I developed my own culture from springtails collected from my garden.
Great Video ❤. Can a terrarium survive without moss? I am finding it difficult to procure it organically.
Thank you. Yes sure it can

Depends on moss species. Most types of terrestrial moss do not grow very well in enclosed spaces
It would have taken many years you to figure out what works in Indian climates❤
I have not loved a video so much, in such a long time

What about putting some saran wrap on the bottom of the cork?
That should work but visuals may be impacted.

Sir how often do you spray the terrariums ?
Depends on many factors. I use my judgement and mist them if they appear dry.

lovely 👍🏾
Thanks

do all of these terrariums have springtails?

Hi, thanks for the helpfull videos ! Where can i can springtails in india ?
Why don't you add springtails to your terrariums to avoid mold growth?

Where do you get your plants from? I find it hard to get so many plants in small portions.
Buy from local nurseries and aquascaping stores. I propagate them to get smaller pups.
@@TheUrbanNemophilist I see, thanks!!
Very nice work ❤❤
Appreciate it! Thanks
what type of Glue do you use? i feel like the glue could be dangerous for the plants
Cyanoacrylate plant safe
How do you remove tissue culture plants from the gel without damaging the roots?
Just wash with water

Mini terrariums last fine in my experience. Gave some out to coworkers.
how often do you spray them with water?
I use my judgement and mist them when they appear dry. Usually once in 2-3 months after establishment. More frequently for cork lid setups.
awesome!! saludos desde Costa Rica :)

I think you should open a shop and sell these containers... it's really hard to find quality containers like yours with a transparent lid.
I buy my containers from sites like Amazon, Ikea and Flipkart.
where can i get spring tails?
In the wild or in your backyard
Where do you get all the plant from
Local nurseries and aquarium stores
your hair is as beautiful as your terrariums
