Hallatar is a band tribute to the memory of Aleah Stanbridge (Trees of Eternity) who passed away due to cancer. The band was founded by the Swallow the Sun and Trees of Eternity guitarist Juha Raivio who was Aleah's husband. He wrote the lyrics of the whole album based on poems and parts of her diary that he found in Aleah's computer shortly after her dead. The other members of the band are other friends of Aleah and Juha: Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis singer), Gas Lipstick (former HIM drummer) and in this song as guest Heike Langhans (former singer of Draconian). In this video Heike is "cosplaying" Aleah, and when she puts on Aleah's iconic necklace it's like she's representing her, so she stands on the other side of the cliff, symbolizing her departure. When Heike walks away, Tomi makes that desperate scream to show the sadness, the anger, and the impotence felt with Aleah's premature departure. p.D: The horse of the video was Aleah's horse, and passed away two years after her.
This had its good spots in it for sure. I liked the music the most during the parts when there was no singing. The vocalists were talented in spite of being really reserved in their style. Looking forward to those June reactions Tommy.
Juha Raivio from Swallow the Sun wrote this album after the loss of his love Aleah Stanbridge (singer of the band "Trees of Eternity"). He used her written poems and lyrics for this to tribute her. The singer in this video is Heike Langhans (former singer of Draconian).
Hi Tommy, I am happy you liked this. I did suspect, but it's nice to be confirmed. Other comments have described some of the history of this project, and it's not easy to listen to, but it's excellent. I do recommend the whole album. I know I said it was heavy, and it's maybe not heavy in the usual sense of the word, but it creates a heavy mood, which IMHO is the best kind of heavy. Thank you for checking this out, and thank you for calling me a friend, I am honored. Since nobody has mentioned the drummer, he is one Mikka Karppinen a.k.a. Gas Lipstick, formerly of the band HIM, and he delivers an excellent performance.
In this clip, Aleah Stanbridge, who was the lead singer of Trees of Eternity, was supposed to perform the female voice, but she passed away before recording. The necklace that Heike wears when entering the carriage belonged to Aleah, it was a tribute to her. By the way, you should listen/react to Trees of Eternity, it's an excellent band too.
Dark, brooding, expansive, ambient. All things that I like.. musically right up my alley. I did dig the growling distortion that started hard and eased up as she sang. Her whisper like singing was chilling. Very good! ❤ and ✌️
I am shocked you haven't been asked to react to anything from Katatonia. Jonas Renske is the lead vox and plays bass for Bloodbath. "Opaline" is my favorite track from their newest record. Not sure what is the best avenue for requesting a reaction vid, so I am just sticking this here.
This song is just drenched in grief but it's so beautiful in a heart-wrenching sort of way.

Ya dude as this song went on, it got better.
Such a sad story with her and Juha Raivio from Swallow the Sun. She was such a great vocalist/artist. He was destroyed when she died.

beautiful... love the string part on guitar, and the harmonies
perfect for rainy days👌
Indeed
This really sucked me in after a while. The heavy parts had a Paradise Lost vibe, and both their vocals were great. Loved the bass too.
I knew you would love this.
So Finnish 😊
I'm homesick now 😐
I can't wait to see it one day!
❤

I know, I need to change that.
