  • How AI Will Change Metal Detecting Forever
In this video I have a conversation with a famous AI bot regarding specifics about metal detecting, historical significance in areas, what to look for when beach metal detecting and where my best chances are of finding lost gold. However the bot had a ominous message for me at the end.

Jewelry is usually trapped in the guts between the sand bars. All the lighter trash is swept away by the waves and currents. Seldom can you find lost items on the sand bars themselves, but they are usually recent drops.

I don’t metal detectors (yet), but I love watching the videos, especially beach videos, and one of the things I appreciate is that at least the channels I watch pick up the pull tabs, pieces of stray metal, etc. I like the that y’all don’t just toss the stuff back onto the beach (yes, on the practical side, you don’t want to find it again, but still). I think of it as kind of the price of admission. And thank you to those that fill in their holes. As a person living near turtle nesting beaches, this is a kindness.
Or, as a non-detector I ask, is picking up the trash and filling holes just commonly accepted protocol?

Hi Robin! Yes its common practice to pick up the trash we find and fill our holes. I can't say that all detectorists do it, but the majority of us do.

I think it would take the fun out of the surprise of what your digging. It is at the point that with VDi alone you get a very good idea on it before you dig and the Tones too. I started out with the Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 and I learned how the very little tones it had that I am digging a good target or not. Now with the 600 700 and Vanquish the Tone and Vdi really helps a lot more.. Happy Hunting.. Peace

I agree that it takes away from the thrill of the hunt maybe tighter signals on precious metals.

I need a Metal Detecting robot dog to find and dig up treasure while I relax on the beach 😂

I would just like to be able to identify aluminum accurately. That one feature would avoid a lot of digging. AI might be able to do this. We can dream.

Excellent video Jon. I’m not sure I would want to know what’s there it’s half the fun not knowing what you’re detecting. 😊🇬🇧

Can you tell me what AI you used here?

Well that solves it, AI has a minelab processor

lol. If anyone is going to input Ai machine learning into a MD its going to be Minelab.

first I would have asked it where are the best spots on the Gulf for Jewelry and historical detecting, and NO! I would not like it telling me as I detect.

thanks for your input, much appreciated. I am not sure if I would like it telling me either. It is coming though. Soon the control box for these machines will be no different than an Iphone or Android with the same processing power.

Be carefull with ai, it hallucinates if you talk to it long enough, once it told me "double fisting" is a expert metal detecting skill where you use a detector in each hand, so i asked it about quadruple fisting and it said many people dont do that because its too difficult but will get you better finds, although with quadruple fisting it at least warned me to watch out fir emi 😅😂

Not entirely true with machine learning AI. But i get your point
