- Simon of Duran Duran forgets his in ear monitors during a performance of Friends of Mine. The band and audience took it all in good humour and the band really nailed the song once everything was sorted. Sounded fantastic!
Just makes us love him more. A true professional rolls with the punches and spins a mistake into gold.

My husband sent me this video and said look at that.. The beautiful blonde in the front row made the jumbo tron and I said.. I did?? And he said yeah! Check it out! I almost died.. Adorable Simon! My brother came for the concert from Austria, 37 years after seeing them first live at Wembley Arena! We danced and sang as much as we did back then. Duran Duran forever!

It's so he can hear himself singing more clearly in a noisy environment Most of the band will have them too I think
@@bigben5051 Is very important use ears monitors to undestand every sound that band plays and him voice. Is so imporant to the singer. It is also very important for the singer to not be able to go out of tune while he is singing. The ear point is extremely important to maintain synchrony.
In big venues there is a delay between when the sound comes out of the big speakers and when the musicians hear it. It's only microseconds, but it's enough to throw them off. So they get a mix of what they are playing fed directly into their earpieces so they can stay in time and pitch.
Like around 6:00 ish Simon really is interacting his vocals like an instrument with the music and to do so, you really have to hear yourself about the loudness and bounce of the music. Simon’s ear monitors must be like a monitor speaker for vocals but in the ear as headphones.
Is he ill? It is happening often....
