Pete: You are lucky that the grill is in as good of shape as it is, I have seen lots of them in much worse shape. To have the original insert is also a bonus. Most of them are long gone. I have a Farmall 200 and I have the tools for working on the grill. They work well, but you did a great job without them. I enjoy your videos and jokes. I really like the way you tell the real, unvarnished story of farm life. I was born and raised on a small farm in Minnesota in the 50s and 60s and what you show is close to my upbringing. I like your philisophical outlook too. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for this update, Pete. One of the easiest ways to straighten a grill like this is to cut a plywood template to fit in the back of the grill, and thus keep from deforming the grill. This worked on my old truck. It can be used on the inside, to hammer on, or it can be your dolly to hammer against.

I spent seven years in body shops and I am very impressed with your patience with that grill. Some of the guys I have known would have thrown that on the floor and stomped it flat.

Pete, the screen mesh is actually 5 squares per inch and not 4 or 1/4 inch. I bought 1/4 inch square screen and when I compared it to the original the original squares were smaller. You did a pretty good job on straightening out that grill. Loved the video.

as a coach builder........... I HATE rat rods, they are just idiots who can't do the job properly. Anyway, yours has turned out OK. While I did cringe at a couple of things, I loved how you looked at the process, learnt from it & did what you had to, to get the end result. Everyone should learn from that, especially some of my ex-employees. While I'm not a bondo fan & I can see some areas that really needed heat shinking which would fix most of it, I think, like everything you do, you gave it a go & did a far better job than many would. have. Well Done !!
