What grease do you use and prefer? Whether new or used, I strongly recommend proper lubrication before getting them on the rails to ensure a long service life.
great info. I have 3 of these. now it time to run them. its been a couple of years. these mth deisels run and look great. espcially when you mu up all three. now off to the train room.
I've never been to Hilltop Hobbies, but have been to Ormandy's in Medina before he moved the store to its new location. Maybe I should go and check out the new store. He's a decent fellow.
@@williamkolina3988 I bought them some time back in an auction, William, but I don’t think they came directly from Tony’s actual collection. I did try to buy some when his collection went to auction but everything I liked brought a lot more than I could justify spending.
@@TheLEMRR I had a couple of pieces from his collection via a Cabin Fever auction (just a pair of sealed NS hoppers). Didn't try too hard to score other pieces as I had my eyes on the upcoming MTH warehouse auction (from which I scored 14 engineering sample freight cars :D ) Never heard the specific reason for the sell off, whether it was just a "thinning the herd" action, or...the 'other' reason a collection goes to auction. I've met and spoke with Tony at the York show (where I got some of his CWI cars), but he kinda went radio silent after his retirement and relocation.
@@RailRide I assumed it was because he moved south. If I ever make a multi-state move later in life, I’d probably be inclined to cut most of my collection loose.
@@darrenhenricks5472 Thanks Darren. No getting around how loud Fastrack can be. I rarely run the trains over 15 scale mph, and even then it’s a lot of racket. If I could start all over, I’d use Atlas or Gargraves.

Thanks for posting this! You are so right about old school Atlas O engines. "Big ups 👍 from Chicago Train Dawg!"
@@Steven_Williams thanks for watching, CTD. Hope you have a great weekend
I like the BNSF AC4400CW, but it definitely would look so much better in a certain iconic paint scheme with a certain historic name.

Great looking locomotives! Some fantastic advice!👍
@@TwistedMacGyversTrains thanks Mac! I love the look but they will probably fall victim of the weathering bug at some point
This video very helpful ! Just purchased several used MTH PROTO 2 diesels. Never thought of checking gear box grease.
@@Thomas-y8r8i gearbox grease, oil the idlers, check battery (BCR is better) and enjoy them!
Good information Steve and nice smooth running units going through some nice scenery.

Have you ever done videos on hilltop hobbies, or the train store in Medina?

I never realized until now that the middle wheels are without flanges.
@@armandoperez7967 looks so much better than the older trucks with the inside wheels flangeless.
Great tips
Did you get those consolidated waste cars from the Tony Lash collection?

What do you do to deaden the noise from fastrack ?

Check to see if you can afford the setback and most of all leave something for groceries.
