Thank you for being so comprehensive in your reviews of these drives, many times the don't have game lists so you don't know what games are included. Most reviews don't do a great job of showing what is on each drive. Also there are dozens of drives with similar names so it's hard to tell them apart and what each contains.
Thank you. Totally agree. It's very hard to find the difference between a lot of these drives. Hopefully this helps show the difference.
This one looks great, just got the 12 tb kinhank with just AAA games, its awesome.
Do you have a link to the kinhank drive?
@justinz4351 They actually included Launchbox inside with some games too as a gift.
Just got mine and jo guys, im blown away over here. Truly i am. I got hp elite mini i5 2500gt wich is great for gaming up to ps2. Beyond that just get hp mini prodesk amd ryzen 3.2ghz with vega 11 and min 16gb ram. It will run every game i throw at it. Just played elden ring, last of us, xbox one, switch, wii damn they all work great. On batocera wii just dont work properly. Problems with xbox to.
Now both run on windows launchbox side. So launchbox is slower at ps3 emulation (probably w11) but workes great on batocera.
I now make 1 system. 2 boots. Batocera will run fe all ps3 games and launchbox all switch games. I wont have double setup for the same games. Will backup all data soon. 5tb in roms needs to double backed. So i wont loose any.
Thx your vids really helped. Now got ps1,2,3,4 working 😍 gamecube, xbox360, xbox one 😍 switch wii wiiu 😍 man this blows my mind. Like all games i want to play everr i got em.. not a big gamer you know. Really loved the old retrostuff but am bliwn away by the new hd quality games. It definitly is great.
Recommend this drive + kinhank 2 tb = like really all you ever could want. Its 130k games they say. I say about a 50k playable no double total with 1000's of newer and older aaa stuff. And ofcourde all retrogames that matter.
Peace out and bless you all ❤️🙏❤️🥰
Hey I just got mine but when I plugged into my PC wont show up did you do something different thanks
Plug in turn it on 😉 wait a minute irs there. Go inside install first all things inside install first. Go into windows drivemanagement and reset the drive to Q. After you boot up launchbox most should work. I fid had soms issues setting up. Its not obious always how to configure controls. But keep at it you be fine.
@@ChandraWortel it wont even showed up on diskmanagement I tried on both of my computers
Ok it could be a bad drive. If so it should be replaced for a new free of charge. Just hope that you did not accidently did something in diskmanagement ? Its ez to make a mistake. But do you have recovery software ? Because i do and a month ago my seagate 7 year old died atleast i thought it did. Little did i know that it wasn't. Look for free software or else the russian one cost 16 bucks but works for big drives, most free software only lets you recover a fraction.
Try and recover ? But it first should be freely replaced by seller. If not you could try the above.
Goodluck to you and honestly think maybe you just got a bad one, it happens every few thousand i guess.
@ChandraWortel Yes, thank you for answering my question. I even tried to run it on Linux, and nothing happened. I think, like you said, I probably have a bad drive.
They can definitely be copied to ssds. I've done they myself actually. It really depends on what is used. Many use generic brands which are wild cards. You never know if they'll last forever or die tomorrow but this one uses a seagate hdd which I've had great success with. I have some seagate drives I've had for 8 years and they still work perfectly.
Thank you for the response!!! I'm super happy you are checking the drive It's nice to know.
Talking about hard disk drives there's some aspects to be aware of. Since 2012 there's only three remaining companies manufacturing HDDs, Seagate, Toshiba and WD Western Digital. This makes any hard disk either a product of these three manufacturers or at least twelve years old. That they use the 3TB Seagate Skyhawk inside of that generic enclosure is somewhat suspicious for two reasons, at first it's a purpose build hdd made for video applications like surveillance vdeo capturing (from the specs: up to 64 camera streams per hdd at the same time, ment to be used in big raid systems), and second suspicious point is that the 3TB Skyhawk is still available for around 90+ bucks and the 4TB goes for 80 bucks new, fresh off the shelf. So i think it definately would make sense to do a quick check with S.M.A.R.T. hdd tools for if those are actually new hdds with very few hours of use on them or if they repurposed/recycled old used and worn out data center hardware.
Don't get me wrong, i like second hand hardware in general for many reasons, but i sure do want to be informed and know about that before buying, especially when it's mechanical hdds which have a limited life span. So, pleeaase, do a quick drive check with some SMART hdd monitoring tools to figure that out. Thank you & cheers .
When you want to copy a drive ,which option should one select on Balena etcher? clone drive ?
@@nopadelik9286I lived in China for 13 years ,all of their hdds are refurbished .

Need to wait until I get a better PC for one of these things. Only a year maybe 2 until I can enter emulation heaven.
Until then it's $10-$20 every other month on scuffed consoles, controllers, and video games at my local Goodwill.
I'm up 1 $11 Guitar Hero guitar for PS2, 1 works like new $10 scuffed Xbox 360, 1 work like new $7 GameStop Edition Xbox360 controller, and 1 free Xbox 360 game.
Hoping to get lucky one day, like you, and pick up some Nintendo products for dirt cheap.
Bro just watch the video about minipc gamingbeast ? Mine was 160 but could be under a 100 without 1tb ssd and 16gb ram fe. So a 100 bucks you be gaming till you die 😂💯 omg to nany games guys 😂 also i bought a 5 buck controller wired.. its tha best 😂😂😂 original ps2 controller also but still the 5 bucjs is awesome. Blows my mind lmao.
Hey buddy, you don't need to spend a fortune to get into retro game emulation. Retro gaming content creators like Retro gaming guy, ETA prime and Tech Dweeb have really great tutorials on how to either build or buy a mini PC like the the HP Elitedesk 705 G4 2400 with the Ryzen 5 chip. You can run Batocera all the way up to Wii with that particular PC with no dedicated GPU. Pretty crazy. PS2, Xbox, N64, Wii, some Wii U all of it. Or you can get a PC like a HP Elitedesk 705 G4 and put a decent used GPU in it like a GTX 1080 (make sure to get one that doesn't require external power) and you can play even more titles. The 1st option will set you back about 100 bucks, the 2nd option, more like 200 bucks (before adding the SSD drive of your choice). Overall still a great deal.
Appreciate the video👍. Emulation has come a long way. I've been gaming since the 80's and I can still remember the first time I got into emulation around 2007 on the original Xbox. My current gaming PC setup has an 8tb Samsung QVO SSD. I wish higher capacity SSDs and NVMEs were cheaper. This drive and the 12tb setup look like something I'll be picking up in the future (to replace my current 8tb Hyperspin drive).
This really looks tempting to me for the value and price. I already have collections I freely downloaded eg. large DC, PS1 , Snes, Genesis, classic consoles and Great Arcade teknoparrot collections from PC Coinops Collections & Atgames Cox/One sauce Game libraries, etc. But this looks like it would perfectly fill a void in my library with the more recent games like Switch & PC AAA (ps4 type titles), Wii U, Wii, Gamecube, PS3,PS2 ...& the Xbox and Xbox1 games are just bonus. I'm close to getting this. Thanks for sharing the video describing everything.
17,000 games! 16,500 doubles & triples.
These things are a complete scam.
So which ones are the good ones ? Also can you add what you want ?
@@jaylenyoung5108 the whole thing is a rip off, you can download all the roms on these scam drives for free and the emulators to run them (on PC and some on Mac) are completely free. You can also buy external multi terabyte SSD hard drives for cheap ;but every single rom from every single console available won't even take up 1 terabyte.
Those blank slots in the Xbox One collection are where the virus payloads are.
82 bucks?! Heck I might just buy one for the ROM sets and us some of those ROM folders as a basis to build a custom Batocera or Retrobat drive. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for watching! Yeah it has some serious value here. Especially as roms become harder to find
@@RetroGamingGuy BTW Congrats on hitting 100 K! I consider your tutorials on Batocera to be one of my top 3 sites for learning just about everything there is on Batocera, from what PC to use to how to configure Batocera itself. Your content is invaluable. Thanks again.
These hard drives are impressive. What would you say the typical life expectancy would be? Do you think these are reclaimed or refurbished hard drives? Do you think these hard drives can be copied onto an SSD so that their performance would be better?
please have a look on the comment i posted above, and for typical life expectancy there's the tech spec data sheet available from the manufacturer, easy to find via google. (my personal experience is that there is no "typical" in hdd life spans, because this won't help you if they fail, only a back up does ;-) )
They are usually 2013 or 2014 hdds so they can die pretty much any day now lol, but if you don't use em as much they can last a few years,
Just ordered mine. Collections look great! Especially for the price! Thanks for all you do, mate.
Thank you for the kind words and support
How is it? Works good?
@jagg4204 Unfortunately, I never got the chance. I tried ordering through Amazon, and the seller wrote me saying their permissions with Amazon were messed up etc. So it never shipped. I ended up getting the one from his video, "The best plug and play game drive is also cheap" using Ali Express, and it has been wonderful.
I made my own library on an 8tb hdd, over 1000 games from 1st to 7th gen emulation. I personally picked each game so no shovelware. Honestly have just as much fun collecting roms and setting up the box art just as much as if i were playing one of my games lol. I prefer playnite though for my frontend
just making up words now? "shovelware" really 🤣

I was hoping to see a video with a smaller harddisk. The 12TB one just seemed to be a bit overkill and too pricey to dip the toes in this thing. I have a Kinhank Super Console X2-Pro and am pretty happy with it. Let's find out what this one can do. I like your vids. Keep up the good work.
Cheapest way is to build one with an empty drive or find an image online. 3tb is a good size but, you may have alot of 70s stuff and not as much early 2k stuff
@@mikemells1642, I go for plug & play because I don't have the time to set everything up myself. 80 bucks is fine. I still can add what is missing later.
@@mikemells1642 It's hard to find one online until you want to use a torrent. The only thing I have seen is the Best Set and the one MashTec did on Archive.
I'd like to see a 1TB SD card collection. I saw a $20, 500GB on Aliexpress.
As someone new to emulation what do you think the best entry into this is? I love the ability to play any of these games I have not ventured back in time and would be so cool to re experience some of this stuff again. I have a gaming PC with a 4090 so I feel like I could probably run it all.
Dude if you have a 4090 you're gonna be able to run every game ever released for any console including the ps5 and Xbox One on max settings, not even experience a single dropped frame ffs dude.. You have the most badass card pretty much ever publicly available so I can't imagine anything you would have to worry about as far as running at ludicrous settings and will most likely be fine when PS6 and Xbox Two get their emus available, on max settings for those mfs too..
@@88_TROUBLE_88 well that’s good to know, now I’m just trying to decide which drive/emulator set is the best all around
Just bought mine thank you for what you do for the gaming community
And the games run good?
You can add to it right ?
@jagg4204 they run great remember tho it is emulated so you will have a stutter every now and then
Great collection it would’ve been nice if they put the wrestling games in there for GameCube and Dreamcast. They should’ve left the windows titles out and put more games from the other systems.
@retrogamingguy thank you. I have been researching how to build a cheap retrogaming pc. I now ordered this drive and already got the 2tb kinhank. So now 5tb with xbox, ps3, ps2, dreamcast, gamecube, n64 and the bonus is games that work on my i5 2.5ghz/3.5ghz max.. maybe some aaa will work on low settings. Great way to test this since im pretty poor and am fully content with systems mentioned. Sure olfer retro gas its value, like giana sisters 😂 a poor mans mario 💯 but fun nonetheless.
Great work and thc again. You have savede a lot of hassle and research. But this drive + kinhank = golden combo, really look at the games.. some doubles but not much. Only 1 xbox game in kinhank, crazy right 😍 but superhappy 👍
Glad it worked out. 5!/ ms for the kind words and support!
Does this already have Launchbox on the drive or did you have to install Launchbox on your C drive and then point the default games folder to the external drive and what kind of precautions do you take to protect yourself from viruses from these collections? One scan or multiple scans with different tools?
No Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 on GameCube? That’s a crime! I’d rather not even have the GameCube emulator if it doesn’t include at least RS2, but preferably RS2 and RS3 Rebel Strike, which wasn’t as good as 2, but was still worth playing.
there will be a reason for it not being included, It doesn't emulate well at all!
Awesome video. !! Love all your videos !!! Wish your videos were longer. Really should be. Great collections. The price is great for the amount of games. Plus 32 emulators. Windows selection not that impressive. Please tell
Us the minimum specs to play the higher end games .
Try transferring this HDD to SSD this would make an interesting video
He mentioned in one of his comments that it can be done.
I enjoyed the 12tb version
I'd like to see a 1TB SD card collection. I saw a $20, 500GB on Aliexpress.
Cheapo
Nah just build your own. Most games you wont play really. So just get about the roms you need. Setup batocera (truly ezpz) en flash all games into it. Whoppa done. Now you got all you want and more on a good sandisk orso ssd 😉 generic ssd is worse dan hdd
idk why but everytime i see a video of those things, they dont have the games i would want to play on the xbox or playstation section, every single time, so i think i stick to my own emulators (which are free btw - grey area legalwise i know but still free) at the end it still is only a harddrive with emulators + games on it (which you buy with your money...), you still need to have the propper PC to play it, not to mention the controllers for each console type. i give these things always a "meh" rating, but thanks for showing mate.
Absolutely. Setting up your own is always the BEST way to go because then it has exactly what you want. I agree there's always a lot of what I consider to be filler titles in most cases for certain collections. Generally in the higher end collections. Sometimes you get lucky and find stuff you are into but it's always going to be somebody else's list when getting a preloaded option. You combat this by making your own 100% and that also enables you to not waste valuable gbs with stuff you'll never play. Well said 👍🏻
@@RetroGamingGuycan you use it on smart tv ?
I certainly don't know a tenth of what you or others know about emulation so I need a plug in device just like this. My issue is what's the minimum specs on a computer to run most of these games, especially the PS2 or Nintendo Wii ones for good gaming experience. Sorry but I'm disabled with some learning issues. I'm just lost on figuring this out.
Hey community. If games off this are not running right, even NES games, what do you think I am doing wrong? I have one the the really good mini PCs talked about on the channel. Batocera runs flawlessly but I can’t get games off of this to run well at all.
Thats on your side bro. I use a hp prodesk mini ryzen 3.2 vega 11 with 16gb ram and running everything on here. Must say yeah you need to know some ict stuff i guess tho im not an expert. I do am handy with these kinda things.
Just google it. Prob setting i guessing. Make sure the folder install first is done. And you need vega 8 min but vega 11 runs it all playable.
Can you tell me a good plug and play for the kings field games on ps1? The full game lists are so hard to find online.
if scroll over the xbox one titles they are there, one of them was cuphead and those are labled as xbox one, but there the pc versions same as the ps4 section. there pc versions,
Do we need a PS4 for this or we can play all the ps4 games in our computer using this drive only
WOW! They have GTA and no Saints row.
Any idea what the minimum requirements would be to play all of the games on this drive? This looks like one hell of a start to a collection. I mostly want to emulate PS2 games and have a couple games I will rip the ISO from to add. I want to build a SFF machine from an Elitedesk or similar machine.
One question: If an xbox360 controller is connected to the pc with a suitable adapter, could it be used for this game drive?
i am new to emulators, but not old school consoles, looking at setting up a box for all of this, looking at a HP delete desk G4 with a Rizen 5 pro 2400ge with 16 gig of ram, what would you suggest, is this a good start?
Since this is a lunch box product a person can buy a launch box license and convert this to big box fairly easy correct?
Seems good for the price, but no arcade games?
Can you add the PS4 more games on the drive because I do love to play old games but I really don’t like is the Game cube Xbox Dream cast and Saga Sater please
I’ve purchased several of these types of things and multiplayer never works. 2player games don’t function properly. I’d like to see if this one is different.
i am new to this and i bought 1. how do i play ps1 games? to me it looks like it does not have the emulator, what emulator should i be looking for in launchbox?
For the higher end emulation you need to have a good gaming PC.
was hoping to actually see if Gaiares from Sega was on this collection. but as usual you run to WWF. lol
27:28 Viewtiful Joe is a very fun game!
What would you say is the best plug and play devices to get for sega saturn that not pc related?
subbed gl for 100k
Xbox 1 and PS4 games are not real. Come on. Those system don't have emulators yet. Those are gonna have to be windows games at least.
Exactly people that make emulation videos should already know and tell there audience they are pc games
@@__EMULATIONPROS__ they do almost all the time.. they aren't emulated they are ps4 games released for switch or PC
Surely you can use this on a jailbroken console tho.
That looks fun!

Just got one of these big suckers and it won't turn on, not sure if it's the cheap power plug or somthing more serious? HDD is a Seagate barracuda though. The power plug is one of those type that includes a small power indicator light and it isn't coming on so I am hoping it's just the plug. Hate to be out $100. CAD. Sad thing is I already got a 500 GB drive for only $23.00 CAD and it didn't need a power plug 😢
I'm wondering if I'll be able to log into my Launchbox account, and sync this with Bigbox on my PC. 🤔
Thanks, I’m new to retro gaming, can you use one of these on a Mac mini ?
You can, but you most likely won't be able to play some of the higher end games at good fps, but this all depends on the specs of your device
I’m looking for the best plug and play system that I can plug into my tv via hdmi and that has a great interface. Any suggestions?
What degree of freedom does it give you to manage the game files? Can you transfer them to another device for example?
Are there any plug an plays i can plug into a tv that give me only ps4, ps5, xbox, or switch games?
Any good items like this that do not require pc and can just be plugged into tv?
If you want something to plug into a tv with games then get something like a SUPER CONSOLE X
Since i myself have a lot of good HDDs from old pc's i can make my own drive, and i did so, but i'd gladly buy a 3TB collection with switch and ps4 games than a HDD with enclosure, od you have some links for an all in one solution ?
They've gotta make a usb C to usb C version that doesn't require a power supply.
That's where an SSD/NVMe setup comes into play..but you'll pay for it
Is this the same as the 12 tb? What are the differences. I did not hear you say in the 12 video? I would like less games and systems so if thats it i may go with this

What would the lowest system specs have to be in order to emulate up to ps3?
Looking to replace my laptop this black friday, Think it would be possible to get the most out of this drive with a laptop at around $1,000? I mean what type of specs would you need to play the higher end games on it?
I'm actually reviewing a gaming laptop this week. It may be a viable option. Typically you need a good Nvidia or and graphics card paired with good speeds. Check back in a couple days

it's cool but those drives are full of malware, you should use them only on a secondary pc that never goes online. Never use them on your main pc, scanners can't detect all threats
The term plug and play is kinda not true tho right? Doesnt these HD's require a PC? And doesnt that PC have to be pretty powerful to emulate some of these games??
True, but you don't need an $1,000 pc to play these games, a $200-300 kne would be sufficient enough to play at around 60 fps
Can I play Xbox controller games on Samsung tablet s 8 plus ?

Hey, im interested in these drives but whats holding me back are the reports of people finding "viruses" on these. Are these "viruses" all false positives or is there a chance some are the real deal
There's always a chance when using something you didn't set up from scratch yourself. In my experience they were false positives but they aren't all made at the same time so I would never there's no risk of real viruses. Have to scan and verify on your end with what you get.
