She's awesome - this has to be one of the most thorough reviews I've seen of this amplifier or any other for that matter. Amp sounds great!
Well, the amplifier sounds great because it is connected to a bigger or better amplifier through a microphone as you can see in this video.
pffft, you're accusing her of cheating, when the microphone in front of the amp is probably to record the amp for the video, not for any hidden extra amplification.
How do you suppose she should record the tone from the amp for this video otherwise?
Gayla is THE BEST reviewer...Hands Down. Because she's a player and knows sound and TONE! Also what a player is looking for in a review!
@@kronkitelin you clearly have no understanding of sound whatsoever, go and watch something more simple
I tried out a Fishman sa 220 today and, a Fishman Artist. Did an A-- B comparison with the same settings and, the Artist was the clear winner in every comparison. I purchased the Artist!
i did a comparison like you did except it was with the newer 330 model. i felt like the artist sounded better as well but the salesman said that the 330 sounded much better out in the front, more away from the amp. so im a little perplexed now. not sure which one to get.
I have owned many amplifiers both electric guitar and acoustic guitar and I honestly feel that the Fishman is the best sounding, most versatile guitar amp that I have ever owned. I really love it and I give it a 5.
Great demo - you really covered all the important information that a player needs to know before purchasing an amp.
I just watched 5 videos on acoustic guitar amps. This one is the best. she does a killer job on demo and good info. tomorrow I will buy a fishman.
I bought one thanks to you. And I don’t regret it.
Thank you for taking the time to provide great info on this particular amp. I'm searching now for a acoustic amp.
excellent review. you answered a lot of questions that many reviewers don't. definitely can't wait to get mine. want this amp so bad!
Nice review Gayla, I enjoyed your playing. Sounds great. If you rate it four out of five stars you should say what you took one star off for. I really like the tweeter level control. That should be a standard feature on most acoustic amps. It allows it to double as very good electric guitar amp too. Plug in a distortion pedal and roll back the tweeter level and WOW!
The phaser sound at 8:20 sounds really cool.
I use one of these so much full sound impresses me every time, I not easy to impress trust me.
Love this amp. So much easier than carrying 2 mackie arm 450's and board. And it sounds better, If you need more just send your outs in the rear to the PA. I hate carrying equipment, but I won't compromise on sound. Great portable amp. Very good review.
Very well done thank you. Just bought my artist series today :) Exciting time!
I played Mimi to day . Omg it sounded so very good .
I am not normally minded to make negative comment about manufacturers - suppliers. But, today we will make a little exception. I service a wide range of equipment, as an independent electronics company. A proportion of the equipment serviced relates to group equipment, guitar amplifiers etc... In the Andalucia region of Spain, you will not find too many main dealers. I have good relationships with the likes of Fender, Marshall and an agent for Victory. From time to time I get equipment in for repair made by Fishman. I cannot give an unbiased account of the product performance, but what I will say is that generally the kit is over complex and very awkward to repair. Fishmam does not seem to have any representation locally, meaning that kit for repair has to shipped at significant cost. I have asked Fishmam for service information on numerous occasions, asked to be a service agent, happy to sign NDAs etc. One reply to many emails, saying someone will get back to me - nothing. So, if you are considering buying a Fishman amplifier or any other products made by that company, be very mindful of the out of warranty serviceability.
Thank you for making us aware of this shortfall by this manufacturer. Once they get your money they just don’t care. Not even a reply to yourself from them says a lot. 👍🏻
Wow, that’s not good to hear. I wouldn’t want to have to pack up my amp and ship it back to the manufacture if it needed repair that’s for sure.
good job explaining and playing/demonstrating!
Excellent presentation and demo Gayla. Thank you!
Great review! I played a smaller Loudbox yesterday with a Taylor T-5X and was blown away how GOOD that setup sounded. Definitely need to add one of these little guys to my gig rig. BTW - what tuning are you using and what kind of guitar are you playing? Really nice playing!
I was thinking about buying a roland ac90 but after I watched this video I change my mind and decided to buy the fishman artist. it sounded great.
Ditto Estlack. Great review and demo!
Thanks for the great review Gayla.. Nice playing too!
ordered one of these yesterday should arrive on thursday
Loved it when you said you hated a certain effect...no amp is ever gonna be 100%. I have a Fishman passive underbridge transducer....I suppose I'd better get an amp from the same family. You've sold me. Forget the flange....reverb, compression and a bit of chorus all done with subtlety can make an acoustic guitar an orchestra
That Flange on that Fishman blew my mind out thanx lady that flange combined with the chorus is Awesome I'm already getting ideas,uh....ohhhhhh....Betsy Lou..
What a great review - just bought the loudbox performer based on this review. Cheers fae Bonnie Scotland.
I'm thinking of getting one of these. What's it like for volume? Where did you get it and for how much (if you don't mind me asking)?
Thanks for the great review. ...some fine guitar playing. I picked one up. Peace & Blessings, Mario
Great review and great playing, thanks.
Great review, been waiting for the Fishman phantom power :)
I have this amp and just love it. You play very good guitar. Plus very pretty.
Awesome and beautifully sounding review!! Question… How were you able to plug in two XLR mics and 1 regular 1/4” instrument cable achieving the 3 inputs as you mentioned in the video?
a lot of the times I like to use delay and reverb at the same time but with this amp you have to choose either or.
I had the loudbox mini and i sold it. I regret doing so as i ended up picking up another acoustic electric and i'm buying a Taylor 320 as well with the electronics and i was looking at getting another amp. I figured if i'm upgrading to a really nice acoustic electric i might as well get a upgraded amp from what i used to have too! thanks for the really in depth review! This helps me out a ton!
Is this amp portable ? The loud box artist?
I'm a novice.Hope these are not silly questions.I have this amp and connected a Ukulele and a Rode NTA-1 Condensor mic. I seemed to get a lot of feedback and could not turn it up much. My question? My Mic needs 24 or 48 phantom power so obviously I turn it on for the mic. Does this have any effect on my Ukulele which does not need Phantom power? I take it the Phantom power works on both channels.
i like the tunning..what is the tunning?
I'm in the market for a 2 channel amp for acoustic and voice, came down to the Roland AC60 and now saw this one which seems cool too. Any advice ?
...I have a Fender Acoustasonic....and want this one too......
Hi, I just happen to have this amp for my Eastman Acoustic Guitar for a service in church for next Sunday. What noticed: the amp has a great sound and a lot of features, great. However, there is a lot lot of hiss in the clean channel, you can also hear it in the demo, right? So why is that? Question to Fishman. Hiss has no place here, I think. What do you other people think? Maybe I am wrong and hear things that do not exist?
That minor 11 chord at 08:20 is exactly what the flange is made for, I really wish these guitar reviewers would pay the slightest more attention to that, it's the same with acoustic/electric piano, some chords need that extra bit of darkness to them. Nonetheless a good review, thanks.
You sounded a bit like the Jefferson Airplane-Jorma! Good demonstration in the Amp! I'm looking to get one around 75 Watts, as I don't play live. You sold me on the Fishman! I have been thinking of picking up a Marshall. We'll see! I'm off to hunt me down one or the other for a decent price!
I want that Amp!
Lovely sounding guitar! What type is it?
thank you. love your playing.
If I were to use this amp as a vocal mic, would I be able to compete with a loud drummer in a bar setting?
Saving my pennies for this amp. Thank you for your review.
it functions as an xlr plug as well as instrument jack
Great Amp! Great job on review.
Great review, thank you
Best demo format yet, all about the amp not the guitar playing for a change !
The tonal controls impact tone. The effects simply produce effects. No surprise there.
Glassbottelblues the 'hiss you hear when she's talking has nothing to do with the amp. It is the mic that is capturing her voice that was probably recorded to low and so inthe editing to bring it up to level it had to be raised (incresed gain) which in return makes that 'hiss' because it wasn't recorded properly.
That doesn't look like a 1/4 inch jack, can you run a normal guitar cable into this amp?
Excellent review, very well done! Great tones and playing...
It’s a dual input Jack ya goof
1/4” AND XLR in one
If you use the effect send and returns on the rear panel does it bypass the internal effects or do they get combined?
I'm looking to buy a good acoustic guitar amp. May I say this is a great review and demonstration from you with I must add, some great guitar playing..!! I wonder if you would take the time out to let me know which of this type of acoustic amp you would give 5 stars? I hope you can help me check out other models I might not be aware of. J.
Qual melhor amplificador acustico? Marshall as50d ou fishman artist?
Great review Great amp Great Guitarist thank you!
how does this model comare in a side to side comparison with the Fishman SA330X? any info would be so helpfull, thanks.
How about running an electric guitar multieffect through this amp?
I have a line 6 pod500x and been searching for a clean amp with as much as possible clean speaker so i can get the real preamp sound, by sending the signal to the amp's return or use the 4cm. Will it work on this unit?
Question for anyone who has answers. I use an acoustic with my fender mustang amp and loop pedal and the loops always come out extremely muddy. Will an acoustic amp help me get clearer tones?
Your rating??? Four out of five? Or four out of ten?
Thank you,
Denny
4/5
What di can i connect to the aux just like what she said in the vid? Like lr baggs para, session, venue or maybe a fishman aura?
When she said, "I ran my guitar through a pre-amp and into the Aux in the back"....does that mean that the Aux in the back IS a pre-amp or did she run into a pre-amp and then from there into the Aux plug? Also, is a DI box in effect a pre-amp? Lastly, can you run an electric guitar through one of these amps playing rock music or might that damage it? Thanks.
What a great review. I'll be saving for one of these. It will sound very nice with either my ovation, takamine, or my new martin with fishman pickup.
I really adore your music Gayla. Many thanks for a good review. I think I will get one for my duo. We are called The Epiphany Brothers, and we're on facebook. Cheers, Robin
What does she mean by running her guitar through the aux and a pre-amp in the back. Was the guitar sound coming through the amp itself? Thank you
Maybe she ment there was like guitar-DI-aux input.. was just wondering f what DI would work.. it seems they dont reply to this old vid anymore
You said you gave this amp a 4; but a 4 out of what? A 4 out of 5, or a 4 out of 10? Big difference.
Trying to decide between this and the Loudbox Mini.
well thats silly. Why would you choose the french fries over the Big Mac AND french fries? Of course you go the for the obvious better option. This amp has everything the Mini does plus more. What a silly statement! lol
A four??? Lol! Dadgum what will it take to get a five?? The Fishman Loudbox series amps are IMHO, only the best production acoustic amps ever built and certainly today. The Fishman delivers a perfectly exact sound as the guitar being played into it which is a goal which has been attempted by every acoustic amp builder ever. AND... it produces the sound in a magnificently full rich tone. Not to mention the stereo effect loops on the two channels, the other outputs both pre and post to the pa or mixer if wanted, or the feedback technology, or the phase switch or the ability to use the two banks of effects on one channel or the fact that you can perform at a 100-150 seat venue singing and playing with the amp alone. So I think if any acoustic amp out there deserves an ELEVEN, it’s the Fishman Loudbox series.
whats the idea of the mike in front of the amp
which shall i get, this one or the vox aga150? let me know :D
No vocal demo ?
quick question: What guitar are you using on this demo?
I have this amp, but I cant plug my mic into it.. its a 3 pin ? but the amp takes 1/4 jack ?
It's a combo input, it receives both 3 pin & 1/4 plug. Sounds great for vocals too!!
ummmm what does a pre amp do ? sorry i don't know much about this stuff just starting out , thank you !
What preamp have you installed in that Voyage Air guitar?
zande
I'd like to hear the vocal capabilities as well. Maybe plug in a mic next time and sing us a tune.
Exactly! This amp is touted as a "coffeehouse rig" that a singer/songwriter or acoustic troubadour can use for a solo gig. If you don't demonstrate the capabilities of the PA aspect of the amp, then it's only half a demo.
...great video ! ...very informative "...thank you "
you gave it a 4 ? like 4 out of 10 ?
What kind of open tune is that? GAGDAD?
where the vocals test?
Hot amp, hot playin' too! Love her!
Gayla, what preamp do you use?
I don't really like reverb on my guitar as an effect when I'm playing acoustic guitar just on my voice and chorus on my guitar and a little delay too.reverb on an acoustic maybe just the slow song's..maybe cause I don't want to lose that chug or grit when I Strummer my acoustic guitar..
Gayla Drake Paul always does great demos. I'm thinking about this amp to run the new Martin DCPA1 through!
Big Ron
BigRon2176
Why only 24V phantom power?
Well done mam
nice amp 4 jazz as well
HI EVERYBODY
does this run off mains or can it be battery also ?
cheers, francis
No battery operation.
a woman and a guitar...thats enough for marriage! thanks bunches for the video
you can.
You mighta considered playing some melody instead of just chopping chords to help better demo those effects.
Would this sound good with a classical guitar?
+DBZ Series I picked up one of these and use it constantly on gigs etc.. I run an ovation steel string through it, as well as a cordoba nylon (flamenco jazz style). Both sound great in my opinion. At louder volumes you have to use the notch pickups on the cordoba (fishman electronics) as you will get crazy feedback. If you're playing at that volume without a PA the tone kind of makes sense. But if the amp is quieter, then you can use the cardioid mic inside the guitar. Then you get a more natural, intimate sound.
Note: miking an acoustic guitar for live sound is a whole can of worms. People use combinations of shotgun mics, the guitar pickups running through a mixer and PA and all sorts of other methods to accurately reproduce the sound of the instrument, depending on the setting. So, it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're a classical guitarist, you may be sitting on a torsion box in order get some natural amplification, in addition to the ambient mics hanging from the ceiling.
But - the amp does sound great with a classical guitar, depending on the mics/pickups going into it.
Is the static or hiss noise common with these amps?
Yes, they all do have that hiss. That is really the only draw back that I know of.
I had this amp for about a year before it died. the tech tried to repair it but was recommended to buy a marshall as50d. with no regrets except for being out the money for the garbage fishman. which is now at our local recycle facility
Is that guitar in standard tuning? Sounds very low
Not
Beatles on LSD sound 😂😂😂😂😂
You DO have a loud box!
@tingly7654321 You MUST be attempting sarcasm! ;o)
noise......?
I really like the content in your video, but it's hard to take a pro audio review seriously when there are sevral audio production problem.
haha thats right :D
