Greetings! I've watched alot of detecting videos over the years and you take the cake! You make all of us feel like we are on the treasure hunt with you. We learn alot of interesting things, especially from your HEADQUARTERS insights! You were destined to be on the screen. I am certain that even Shakespeare would have given you a thumbs up!👍
Thanks Nazareth that was really nice to read and much appreciated! Comments like yours make it all worthwhile and I hope all well with you! All the Best, Alexander
Quite a bit of fantastic finds there! We get nothing that old here (well rarely) in the states and on the beaches we hunt. We need to get over your way and try to find some of the treasures you do! Am fairly new to the DEUS II and finding it to be a fantastic detector. We also use the Tascam mics and run them for straight on 4 to 8 hours on a single rechargeable batteries. I lay down the 2 audio tracks from both our recording in Davinci Resolve and auto sync each video clip from the GoPros. Each mike has a wind sock (dead cat) on that pretty much gets rid of wind noise. Love your digs, insights and history discussions there. Cheers from Scott - The Detecting Duo
Amazing finds Alexander, the editing of this video was very enjoyable as usual. All the best for your next detecting adventure, can't wait to see what else you're going to save cheers Arthur
That knife is very special. Looking forward to Stu’s treatment on it, he’s a magician on renovating things. Does this mean you’ll be doing a beach video? That’ll be interesting. Great video 👍

Thanks Chris... that clothes hook indeed!!!! A really nice surprise when the Hub came up with the ID on that one! Hope all well and thanks for watching!
Another astonishing session Alex I have only managed get half way through the footage as I'm heading out the door for dinner, but I had to comment, I know you have good soil but the condition of your knife is truley incredible!! I can see the terminal is a horses hoof and they can be quite accurately dated to the 16th century. I have had the exact same pommel a few times, with various types of hoof and in most cases shod. To see the whole knife with not only the handle and blade is just incredible for me. I wish I could send you photos of mine, they are identical.
please do Michael - could you send to my Instagram account its the same name as this and I would love to see it! Hope all well and thanks for watching!
You couldn’t give a monkeys about imprints…. That really made me laugh 😂 great video as always Super Holz. I’ve not been detecting for such a long time (painting has taken over) but I’m getting back into it again and so I’ll be watching more of your awesome vids for inspiration. Hope you’re well. Mel
Stunning finds again 👍and that knife is wonderful ❤I have quite a few of them terminals including one that looks like a medieval archer 😮stunning find complete Well done and good luck 🤞
@@HolzHammerSagas got the big C Alex. They assure me it's not a death sentence but it sure does feel like one. Always look forward to your videos. Cheers
I suppose that day's detecting could be filed in the "not bad" drawer😁 Extraordinary finds, that man. I really must send you a few "back to HQ" sound samples - I'll try to address that over the weekend👍
Hey, Alexander. Another great video with stunning finds. I am sorry to be inactive lately - I am battling lymphoma cancer, but it is getting better now. For my therapy I have bought new Deus II and hopefully will use it soon. Have a nice day. Greetings from Slovenia. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words. I am learning, reading manual, trying different setup. It is really lovely machine, way better than my two previous machines. Have a nice time, Alexander! 🙂
Hi Alex, I would have said Later Saxon for the hooked tag. The early ones I thought were zoomorphic by design and even shape. Hooked tags were often used to fasten leg bindings which were common back then. But I am not an expert, just learning about history as I go along.
Thanks for noticing and liking that Adele no one comments on that - I still enjoy creating that effect and designed it myself! probably shows! 😂 Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Hi Alexander Subbed about two week ago and started from your first vid. Just catching up to present day. Love the channel, it’s definitely one of the best detecting channels out there. You have some amazing land. I run a club in Lincoln and we are also very lucky with good land. Keep up the great work, may your coil never go quiet.
Good line that Mick! And thanks for watching all that old rubbish I don't dare watch my first ones back- they would be too awful and cringy!!! 😁 Hope the clubs doing ok and well done for doing it! All the Best, Alexander
OMG knife was cool. Love mole hills. Found a ax head in one in Idaho City ( gold mining town) Idaho. I was hoping for gold nugget,oh well. Cheers from Florida
Thanks Jeremy - Some days are like that and then you. might spend 5 hours on cartridges and rifle rounds like I did yesterday but enjoyed it and had Tasci with me! Hope all well
That mole field is a treasure trove!! What wonderful finds. It has been in the low 70's all week. They say there are indications of another arctic blast after Valentines. But I am totally enjoying it while it is warm. Tasci ear rubs from me. Btw, I do love that knife. Amazing!
What a belter !! @Saxon lovely condition I love that , the knife is also in exceptional condition ,possible bone handle brilliant find WOW, you possibly wouldn't of found the knife if it sounded like Iron and just left it there 🤔 If unsure DIG it !! . I had / have the Explorer 2 ,I was ALWAYS digging Iron ( sadly can't dig anymore ) Getting to grips with Doris now Alexander👏 ,its been brill to watch . PS great technique with the spade . Thank you so much 👍
Thanks Phil, we are definitely getting there with Doris... in fact dare i say she is now quite a gal! 😁😂 And the knife deiniely agve enough of a decent squeak amongst that socking rusty blade!!!! Hope all well with you!

Now now Alex you may be younger than I but you are now spring chicken. You have to have a bit of mileage on the clock to be that well educated and informed! 😬😬😬🤪
Hi Alex; What a day you had!! I would be very interested to learn what that knife handle is made of - it's so beautifully preserved. And of course to see it cleaned up a bit. Do you think it can be bent back into shape? Even a little would be pretty neat. Thoroughly enjoyable, thanks. Those moles are a busy bunch, aren't they? Smiling.
Hi Alexander. Great day out, some great strap ends. Love the hammered coins. Couple of nice Romans. All good down here. Hope all is well give Tasci a pat n scratch from me.✌️👍🦘🇦🇺🦘
The field is yielding a lot again. Always fabulous finds in these fields. Always enjoy the videos. Enjoy the weekend and see you on the next, Alex. Cheers mate! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Great video Alexander .... and superb finds again!! You really do have an excellent permission, the sort most of us dream of. The knife is amazing, I'd love to see what your friend manages to do with it. I found a sterling imitation Edward 1 penny. There was 5 in total found in one area of a field, they're currently going through the treasure process. 👍
Oh God Bad luck Gary... hope you get it back they are cracking little coins do you know which one it is? There is a very good website on them... my one wasn't as it turns out... surprise surprise ! It's Bury St Edmunds mint hence the lack od CIVI TAS etc! Hope all well!
@HolzHammerSagas I think it was a "Guy de Dampier" coin. If I've recalled it correctly .... it was towards the end of the lockdown period when I found it so quite sometime ago. Not too bad Alexander hope you are too. 👍
I would thing with 4 pellets on the cut quarter that would make it a short cross so probably John or Richard so probably 11th or 12 century. I love cut quarters. Hope your well 👍
Yes - thanks Mick I think it is a medieval mount of sorts though it didnt clean easily at all the bronze had become very "diseased" but the design can still just about me made out... Hope all well and nice to hear from you!
Hello there new subscriber here just come across ur channel relly enjoyed watching ur videos and going on ur Adventures with u doing this amazing hobby of ares will look forward to seeing ur videos
Alex i dont know how you are dealing with the tones on your machine, i wouldn't have a clue what it was without rc remote/numbers... I would recommend Sen. Ft, high square at 2-2.5 reactivity
Hey fab dig Alex, some 'wonderful things' (as someone once said...) 😅, And great to see those moles are helping you out too... (I definitely need to have a word with my lot - they're evidently on strike or summat... ;). Anyways: Sorry to say, I've drawn a bit of a blank on this 'direct sound' idea for you. Your Tascam record pack is 'specific' to the mic, so only has 1 audio channel. I feel awful after all that 'trumpeting' too... Technically speaking there *is* a way - but it would involve buying another of those Tascam units, (or a different one with 2 audio channels). And then the 'delightful world of editing' would likely bit a bit more involved afterwards too... I'm guessing you'd prob. rather not go down that route? but pls. let me know if I'm mistaken... Apologies again, tho' great to hear your original speaker is back working... 🙏 Ttfn, Bobby 🐭
They are about £150 I think Bobby so prob not at the moment I just had to but a new lav mic for it too - thats about the revenue of 40 hours of TH-cam work for me so will have to stick with the old ways!!! Thank you so much for looking into it though its much appreciated! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas Hey 👋 absol. pleasure Alex, and sorry it's not worked out... 'Yet' 😁 - but yeah, you do right to keep your 'head screwed on' with the filming budget - I'm terribly reckless in this sort've area, an' it's never really paid off... 'Yet" 😅🤣 Anyways, take care matey and thnx as ever for the fab videos... B 🥰
Re your earlier ID of Duke of Norfolk button this in fact is incorrect as it is an Earls coronet, and is therefore livery button for the Earl of Suffolk and Berkshire ( Howard) Best wishes Dixon
Thanks Dixon, much appreciated.... did I say Duke of Norfolk in this video - If I did I didn't mean to and was nowhere near any of that families residences... not that that means anything in finding these things. What would the initial be under the Earl of Suffolk sand Howard's coronet please?
Getting closer to my target amount saving for a detector I haven't browsed yet I want a definite amount also was thinking of asking my dad if he wanted to pick it make up the difference on a decent one and both of us use it cuz it's all about getting out and the treasure is a added bonus, always impessed with what people find even when it's just not even that old every piece or harness every buckle every coin could tell a story or two if only they could speak. Is suppose in ways they do..
Have you considered a Deus Lite (original) what cost me close to £1500 a few years ago is hardly anything now - the same price as an entry level detector and you will have an amazing machine to start with and you can upgrade after a few years once you have learnt to use a seriusly good machine... might be worth thinking about... and there is a video I did on Best Detector might be worth watching too; its on my Homepage... good luck Robbie let me know how you get on!!!
Hey Al, How did they cut those little coins and other things so straight back then. Did they have metal scissors or maybe use a cutting chisel? Good stuff! ✌️
Love your program, i have just started metal detecting, and i found out that my father and Mother in law owns 10acres of land that according to him has NEVER been detected, its in Lejre Roskilde Denmark, viking territory 😮 AND my father inlaw just told me theres a roman Road passing right through 😮 how lucky Can one person actually be 😂 right of the bat starting out like that, btw i Got permission 😅, keep up your work its just a hellowa program 👍🏻
Hi Alexander… now don’t laugh! 😆 I’m very very new to metal detecting, new as I’ve only been out once and that was on a beach in Cornwall where I live. The first time I went out teenagers were taking the mick out of me and kinda put me off and not been out since. I really do need encouragement. Your videos are helping. I have and don’t laugh! 😆 ace 250 . Would love to see a video of you using one . What do you recon? Up to the challenge 😂
Wow so much to identify what a great day detecting. That ICH buckle is an incredible find. I try to imagine the person who would even wear such a thing a soldier a priest of sorts a Viking makes you think and wonder.
Doesn’t it just Lori… it would have been quite spectacular in its day! Perhaps the vikings may not have worn something with such Christian connotations! 😁
Really need to have your own TV program, so interesting & entertaining. A BIG Thank you from us (Sara & Peter) PS., so far we’re loving our detecting time, very addictive!
It is a bit - I always tell people I hope they don't find gold too early on as they wont do anything else!!! Thanks for watching you two its much appreciated ! All the Best, Alexander
Alex, you are simply not going to believe this and I cannot understand it... Your latest vids are soft focus to say the least. So, I just decided to look back on some of your earlier ones. I have just looked at "2nd Time on the Saxon Field' 8 months ago as well as some of the others around that time and they are all fine and the focus is excellent! Today's vid, (the one with that incredible knife), I have subtitles on it that are perfectly sharp but the vid isn't. I'm not imagining this Alex, I am a retired freelance photojournalist, I say this to try to add weight to what I am saying. You are absolutely certain the vid is in perfect focus at your end but it's not at my end. No, I can't explain it either.
Gosh Colin thank you so much for all that …. There are 7gbs of film uploaded there …it took my slow internet speed over seven hours to upload…! I really don’t know what the problem is it’s probably my end and the camera isn’t in focus and I am cutting in too close while editing but for HQ I use a Nikon z6 and manually focus to perfection …one day when I have the time I will try and work out the problem it looks fine to md just now watching on my iPad Pro at HD 1080 res…. Hope all well
Ah, the HQ shots are perfect Alex it's the outdoor footage. Sometimes, when you walk to camera to show something in hand, I have now carefully watched almost each frame to see if just one of them catches focus, none do. I am watching the vids on a PC. It's the same PC I edit all my photos on so I know it's on the line. Nothing else I watch is out of focus, have you tried watching it on a PC? Is there anyone else that cone double-check Alex. I hope I am going to be saving you some grief by flagging this up, especially if you didn't know about it which seems the case.
Hi Colin, Hope all well - i have looked into all this greatly and honestly can't see too many problems and since no-one else has mentioned it I can't let it bother me too much or it will drive me crazy! It all looks basically ok to me - the footage is all 4k but I render in 1080 HD this gives me a bit of room when I crop the raw footage so as to be able to zoom in without losing too much detail. The cameras are also basically point and go so will prob not be perfectly focused all the time. I have an upcoming video parts of which may be slightly out of focus for the reasons above so just to warn you not to get too excited! Your previous comments did get me slightly worried that something dreadful was happening but I think its all just in keeping with being an amateur film maker! All the Best, Alexander
Hi again Alex. Well I know how frustrating this must have been for you but worry not, it is me that has egg on my face! After reading your latest reply I thought it a good idea to take a screen-shot of blur and non blur vids. Inexplicably they are all looking fine now. This makes no sense to me whatsoever because the outdoor shots were blurred while the captions were sharp. But what has happened so that all the vids show properly now, I just don't know, I have never shot video so I can't begin to pretend I would know. However, I couldn't view these vids again and not fess up to being so wrong about this, I just wish I could explain it? I'll go hide in a darkened room now!
Colin I REALLY appreciate you getting back to me on this as its a big relief - I don't know whats wrong either - maybe a slower internet speed was forcing you to watch a lower resolution play back? Anyway I hope you enjoy tis evenings video without too many issues!!! All the Best!!!@@colinsmale8146
How in the hell did i get unsubbed from this channel? Just shows the attention span of myself and others that you can forget a youtbe channel because you initially think the person isn't posting.
Thanks epic, I only dont post if i dont have enough time to edit or I didnt have any outings worthy of a video - I go out a lot of days and dont find enough exciting stuff and i try not to makje boring videos - thats when you might get a two week break - thanks for re-subbing its much appreciated! All the Best, Alexander

Lovely field, lovely finds (especially the knife!) and lovely presentation - what more do you need from a detecting video? Thanks again Alexander👍
Thanks as always Bodger your comments are always lovely to read and much appreciated! Hope all well and All the Best!
Fantastic array of finds on those fields Alexander 👏 your one lucky man👏👏👏👏
I know!!! 😁Thanks as always Rob and hope all well!
I would thing with 4 pellets on the cut quarter that would make it a short cross so probably John or Richard so probably 11th or 12 century. I love cut quarters. Hope your well 👍
You are right SD thanks for the correction! Hope all well!
It looks like the medallion from a Rosary!
Being a good catholic boy Marilyn I know exactly what you mean...
Great stuff , fantastic knife
Cool eh, James?! Hope all well!
Wow. The blade shape brings to mind of melon knives here. Great hunt again. But the Roman gold is running from you. A mole has it
Its gotta be soon hasn't it Don???!!!!
I'm new to your channel and really enjoy your videos, well done on your finds, best wishes John 😊
Thanks John and thanks for watching them! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Fantastic finds! Thanks for bringing us along!
No problem at all - thanks for watching! 🙏😁
Some great finds again Alex😃. I’m intrigued by the square find at around 3:50, have you investigated it yet?
Yes - thanks Mick I think it is a medieval mount of sorts though it didnt clean easily at all the bronze had become very "diseased" but the design can still just about me made out... Hope all well and nice to hear from you!
Incredible finds, love your videos! Congrats on those old coins wow! All the best from Canada!👍👊👍😎

Have had a similar pommel but zoomorphic and have always wondered what the whole kife would have looked like
Now i know 😁😁😁
Well done Grizzly! Can you make out what the pommel is depicting? Hope all well!
@HolzHammerSagas there's pics online of similar ones, supposedly a dogs head 👍👍
It was an amazing day! New sub
Thanks Motaman thats much appreciated! 😁🙏 All the Best, Alexander
Well done mate great video and some absolutely fantastic finds very nice 👍
Thanks HMDUK! 🙏 Hope all well with you!
Alex i dont know how you are dealing with the tones on your machine, i wouldn't have a clue what it was without rc remote/numbers... I would recommend Sen. Ft, high square at 2-2.5 reactivity
I have been using fulkl tones with no numbers for nearly 9 years now NE I am getting quite good at it!😁 Hope all well and All the Best
Wow some fantastic finds 👍
Thanks Shawn! 🙏 Hope all well and thanks for watching!
Re your earlier ID of Duke of Norfolk button this in fact is incorrect as it is an Earls coronet, and is therefore livery button for the Earl of Suffolk and Berkshire ( Howard)
Best wishes
Dixon
Thanks Dixon, much appreciated.... did I say Duke of Norfolk in this video - If I did I didn't mean to and was nowhere near any of that families residences... not that that means anything in finding these things. What would the initial be under the Earl of Suffolk sand Howard's coronet please?
Could you please send me a picture Dixon
Will have a look thx 👍
Hey Al,
How did they cut those little coins and other things so straight back then. Did they have metal scissors or maybe use a cutting chisel? Good stuff! ✌️
I think thy did have scissors of sorts I am not quite sure I will research immediatley!!! Hope all well!
David I cut my teeth with an Ace 250 I used it for three years and found some amazing things with it!!!
Did you see my first Roman silver on detect hub Alex?
Flick knife ?
I didn't but will look now!!!
@@HolzHammerSagas perhaps Crusaders would be more appropriate.
Does the Deus 2 lite have all the function of the much more expensive version?
Pretty much I think Peter - you can do more with the puck than you could with the Deus 1
Which field is that again Alexander I 4 got the location 👍😂
Good stuff Shaun
jiipie 🍀🍀🍀
😁🙏
Who an earth is this David bloody Dickenson of the detecting world
who is David bloody Dickenson???!!!!
A posh tanned antique dealer 😅
@@eds1981 what, posher than me??!!😄
n1 bud
Cheers MrE!!!!! 😁🙏
wow them moles! bring the terrier!
Ha! No! He'd love it though!!!!!!!! Too many horses there too I'm afraid! Hope all well BC 😁
Yes it looks like a dress hook not from a Rosary
Thanks Marliyn I thin it does too but I liked your original proposition too! 😁
I'm only 14 mins in and loving that find, and I just want to be the first to say so👍😀
Ha! Thanks Retro - much appreciated and hope all well! 😁👍🙏
Thanks Dean! Love the emojis!!!!!!!!! Hope all well!
