The rant about the torpedoes isn't accurate. Shinonome's torpedoes ARE clearly better than Fubukis IF you are throwing them in the same range - eg. the 9km. Fubuki: 1500m detection; 59kt/s speed. 1500/59 = ~25.42. Smaller value is better in terms of how long the opponent has to react. Shinonome: 1600m detection, 63kt/s speed. 1600/63 = ~25.39. Essentially the same. Tiny bit better. Doesn't matter really reaction wise. The torp. speed leads to an advantage of decreasing the time to the target over the actual ranges that torpedoes are commonly shot, which is the real benefit. Over eg. 9000m the difference is much more clear and especially so when you add the +4kt/s from Tanaka's tier 1 commander skills. Fubuki: 9000/(59+4) = ~142,8 Shinonome: 9000/(63+4) = ~134,3 Shinonome's torps are roughly "6% better" in terms of the time to target with Tanaka's +4kt/s thrown to the mix. If you consider that people are using some +3-5% improvements to various stats from commander inspirations (rudder shift, dispersion, shell grouping) that +6% improvement is more than pretty much any commander inspiration advantage you could gain vs an opponent that doesn't have the "3rd advantage". But the Shinonome's torps are actually even better since when you compare that Shinonome has -3s reload advantage on Fubuki, the Shinonome certainly has better torps as far as gameplay math goes. = Shinonome is a close range torp. boat that can stay stealthy. Sounds exactly what premium ships should be. High skill cap and situational. Fubuki will be a better pick for your average Joe though due to random long range torps hitting targets that cannot really be aimed. I mean - if someone travels straight line for a minute, that's their downfall...
I don't know if I went on a rant (😄 maybe?), but I think I did say at least a couple of times that the torpedoes are a question of personal preference. I do appreciate that your objections to my analysis are based in numbers. Comparatively speaking, this is how the Fubuki's torpedoes compare versus the Shinonome: speed -6%, reload disadvantage +4%, range +25%, and damage +11%. The differences in torpedo detectability is kind of a wash, because the speed means they will provide a similar reaction time, but between the considerable damage advantage you have (in spite of the reload disadvantage), you end up with about 7% higher damage potential in a game with torpedoes that are, as you point out, maybe 6% harder to hit with. When I look at that, I would think you'd say they're fairly close in terms of performance where both ships can hit, with the Fubuki enjoying a range advantage. If you wanted to do your analysis at 9.3km or less, that actually does free up the Fubuki to take other slot 3 options, because the ability to hit at 11.6km is, admittedly, an often dubious advantage. The Fubuki can hit at up to 10km without modification, meaning that it can have a marginal reload advantage over the Shinonome (-3 seconds, or -4%), a rudder shift advantage (not recommended), or the several advantages provided by Perceptive (RPF, damage reduction, and better torpedo detection). Taking either Back in Stock, which reverses the reload advantage and puts the DPM potential closer to +12%, or Perceptive (very useful, particularly in a division or competitive situations liked ranked/arena) further improve Fubuki's performance in the more reasonable, same-range scenarios, with the Shinonome still having the better torpedo speed, the Fubuki still having a range advantage (8%). But that's just why I would say it's up to personal preference, though I'm convinced the Fubuki is better. I may have something to do with my confidence at hitting torpedoes most of the time, though.
I've never won the 100k (unfortunately?). Some are doubloons I've purchased, I've won tens of thousands from chests, the weeklies, and WG does provide CC's doubloons from time-to-time to purchase premium time... which I also seem to have enough of. 🙃
I think the Treasure Hunt event is really great for players who don't spend any money on it. At that point, it's just a fun celebration of two years for Legends. Hard to complain about that. Spending a lot of money to get a random ship at the end completely undoes any notion of randomness in the event up until that point, which kind of defeats the purpose of a "treasure hunt," and then God only knows if you'll be happy with what you get from the Loot Box at the end. I also don't really like that some of the rewards are coupons. That's like buying an invitation to spend more money. Lastly, I hate the notion of locking any ship exclusively within a Loot Box in general, though I will note that in this case I don't think the Treasure Hunt was nearly as pernicious as the Kii or Atago B or the original offering of the Aigle because at least there is an upper-end to the amount of money you can spend. By in large, the purpose of this video is to give people an idea what they can expect if they're really hoping for this particular ship.
