You have to admit, it makes perfect sense for Gongjin to take a page from Sun Bin. The "beneath this tree [insert commander] will die" is Sun Bin's famous trick against Pang Juan. Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang are both known as proud men, but Kongming is also known to gamble (unlike say Sima Yi) hence the Empty City ploy. If Gongjin can trick Kongming into thinking that the latter has a significant advantage (such as Zhou Yu horribly wounded or the idea that Wu's forces are ignorant of Zhuge Liang's attack), Zhou Yu can beat Zhuge Liang.
something that's never discussed is Zhuge Liang's true role in the novel and how he did a lot of things he blamed Heaven and Cao Cao for that ultimately beneficited Liu Bei, like poisoning Liu Qi and Lady Gan (so Liu Bei would be able to get Sun Quan's sister as a hostage) and even killing the emperor after Cao Pi deposed him so Liu Bei would be seen as legitimate, although Liu Bei had no idea any of this was happening until he tried to fight Wu without Zhuge Liang's help and was destroyed. in this game Zhuge Liang also ends up killing the emperor twice, once in Lu Bu's epilogue to put the blame on him and Ma Chao and get Liu Bei to act as an avenger from Jingzhou, and in this scenario in which he blames Wei for killing the emperor as they retreated North. so for Zhou Yu to put Zhuge Liang in the place of Pang Juan (who was a strategist from the anciant kingdom of Wei in his time) basically equates to telling him "I know what you did". this is why Zhou Yu is so sad after the battle as he realises he would never be able to serve Sun Ce in the same capacity as Zhuge Liang served Liu Bei, even if he figured out his plan
Except historically Zhuge Liang was mediocre at best as a commander and strategist. He excelled in domestics. Not battle. Most everything about him in the novel is fictional. Sima Yi meanwhile was very skilled as both a commander and a strategist and he took gambles quite a few times. Once such time was his very rushed forced march against Meng Da when he planned on defecting back to Shu.
Ah, this brings back memories. I know Zhou Yu is supposed to be known for his effeminate looks, but Dynasty Tactics was always my favourite design for him. He feels like a commander in this as opposed to... whatever the fuck his DW7 and 8 designs are meant to evoke.

Not gonna lie... The new DW9 Hypothetical outfit of his is pretty similar to this one... Very goreous looking tbh. This version of him also reminds me of his design in Koei's ROTK games (before 14) In 14, he looks like a smol Lu Bu 😅
