I have never had salbutes or made salbutes in my lifetime with cabbage. For me it has to be lettuce. This version very different from our traditional in Belize but I am sure it still taste ok.
tostadas takes cheese not salbutes and salbutes does not take italian dressing also chicken is boiled not fry. fried is when making escabeche and salbutes you gotta have jalapeño slices on top. to make it traditional belizean salbutes. however still looks delicious.
Melvin Catzim Melvin Who died and made you head chef. Look I already told you, I was making a family member’s recipe. I put what I want in my dish and you do what you like with yours.
So after eyeing this recipe for some months now, I finally decided to make it. Super simple to follow and my family loved it(the true test) I made it for the first time yesterday and the second time today by following the directions in this video! Thank you sooo much!
Thank u for the Bare pantry show, I did not know making most of these dish was so easy and simple,, lol cyaa wait fi get a gyal n show off mi skills 🤫🇧🇿⭐️
The Bare Pantry Show I live in Las Vegas when I come to California I would like to stop by the Bare Pantry show to see what u cooking up . Would be honored always was a Big Dream to meet the lady that thought me how to make everything I need .😊👌🏽♥️
hello!! I live in Belize and the way I do the salbutes is boil the chicken pieces like a gravy and the onions are made like for escabeche..and no lettuce 😁.. i think your version is great tho..wish u all the best
I like the original recipe. We from orangewalk and we slice our cheese we don’t use power cheese same with the dressing. I feel if your making a recipe video for traditional belizean food keep the recipes authentic then You can make a similar video with your version of the food. Just saying..
Sofia Garibay I feel that because Belizeans don’t have any real authentic recipes to none of the meals, then I can do what I please. If you’d like to be the first authentic Belizean recipe content creator then you are free to make your own show. Just saying,
Oh my so yummy!! I learned to make a Honduran one similar to this but it has refried beans, cabbage salad, cheese and boiled egg slices. i need to try yours!
Oh I love these salbutes! Lucky we didn't spend a full 3 weeks with you guys. I wouldn't be able to stop eating & would be rolling out the door with this magnificent food! I am not a fan of paprika but love your dads recardo. Hi dear Joe. I need to make this but, better still, come and make this for us ! xox
Hello dear your recipe is so good I'm going to make it also can you tell me how to make Belizean rolled taco source please I eat in Belize in Orange walk town it's red colored and very hot spicy yummy .
Barbara, that dish looked incredible!! I would love the chicken even with some rice. I cannot wait to try this recipe but I will have to use store bought tortillas. Would you suggest corn or flour tortillas? Great video as usual. Hope everyone is doing well!!----Tressa Daigle
They look yummy. I don't like Italian dressing. The only way that I remember eating them in Belize was just plain cabbage and a tomato slice. One of my crazy friends I was with started calling them "some booty" and I bought died. I was afraid they'd be insulted by him saying that. Still funny though.
Miriam, Uncle Roger's girlfriend is the one that showed me it this way. Some old lady told her about the Italian dressing. I normally put a little of distilled white vinegar or lemon or lime juice with some water.
We call a single one a SALBUT, salbutes would be plural. My mother in law makes these. A little different than you, as she's from Yucatan. Yummy, provecho!
Sounds good! 1. A kitchen towel (i.e. cotton) under your cutting board will keep it from slipping around and 2. The Costco rotisserie (whole) chickens are brined (in salt) prior to being cooked--good call!
Thanks for the tip about the cutting board Steve. I'll try that next time. I've heard that even the whole chicken they sell for us to cook are injected with some type of saline to make them weight more. I don't have any proof, but I believe it.
I’m trying this recipe today 😌
I love salbutes 🤔😇😃I have tried the recipe and it is good 👍 lol 😝 thanks for posting it ❤️🌸🙏😊

I was thinking that you used vinegar or something in other videos.

Um Yum, I have to make me some salbutes!
I have never seen cabbage in salutes, it's thinly slice onions. Sorry not my cup of tea this does not represent Belize cooking.
And yet this was taught to me by a Belizean. Keep it moving Janice.
Salbutes comes from cayo if you tweak it it’s not belizean any more!!!js
I agree I grew up in Cayo and make mine different.
I jus love you!! wow you and ya ma im seeing double my goodness she just spit ya out. Peace
nowhere in belize you get salbuted like thst
You know nothing.
The original belizean cooking is disappearing
