Sharing another one of my very highly requested videos with you guys. I always get asked how to make panades using Maseca because prepared masa is not easily available for you guys.
Thank you so much for having authentic Belizean recipes, I’m only 25 & I just started cooking like 2 years ago lol my mom is sick & can’t teach me so I’ve been lost so your recipes are a God send 🙏🏾
I'm a guy from Petén, Guatemala living in the US. I'm a subscriber since your rice and beans videos, love your channel, your stories are a joy to listen to, your food is amazing! I had these panades in Belize they are different than the Guatemalan empanadas I grew up eating but they are very delicious, I'm going to make this maseca version for sure!
Thank you so much. I'm so happy to hear you've been following for a while 😊. I think I like the maseca version of panades even more than the other one 😁. I like the crispness and lightness of it. When you make yours, come back and let me know how you like them.
I love how easy you made that. I've always used tuna in the can but did not know how easy it would be to use tilapia which is fresher. In Belize we use to use bony fish and had to pick out the bones. The convenience of Tilapia is mind blowing (no bones). Now I need a fryer. I'll order the one you list, Thank you.
@TheBelizeanborn You are very welcome and thank you too! Omg, I completely forgot they use to use bony fish back home and have to pick the bones out. I forgot how much work that was plus having to go far to get masa. Yes, definitely get a fryer if you can, it makes it so much easier. Take care ❤
Making me so hungry! I had these when I went to Placentia and they were cooked by the locals. It was so good! Fish and bean pananas right on the beach.
Good Morning sweet lady. I just love your videos. I wanted to give you a tip on the panades sauce. Instead of using all vinegar, add a little water to reduce the tanginess of the vinegar. Aside from that your method is spot on
This was great!!!! I learned a lot since you explained the difference of the masa’s. I’m just about to make some for a family gathering, you are a big help in the process. Thank you 🙏
@@CookingwithShirani everyone Enjoyed, complements all around even from some of the non Belizeans. It was fantastic, They all want the recipe. You will have a few more subscribers very very soon.
Thank you so much Gladys! I found the cup at a thrift store many many years ago. I looked online but I couldn't find one exactly like it. I saw a few at different sites but they all say unavailable. Thanks for watching ❤
Thank you. I tried a short time ago and they came out great. Can't make off too much as once as they crack. I would need some salt in the Maseca though(just me). Thank you.
I’m sorry to bother you again, but I made your panades and they were a hit! But mine didn’t puff up like yours did. Do you know what I may have did wrong? Or have an idea?
You are very welcome. It's even easier if you buy the prepared masa Lydia. Here is the link to that video if you are interested. th-cam.com/video/_MMPKzcDwmQ/w-d-xo.html
There is so little filling in each one that I wonder if it would work as well using raw fish instead of cooking it beforehand and allowing it to cook as it fries?
Now that's one I've never heard of or thought of before. I love it, that is a great idea to try. Where I come from, when you buy it, it usually has less fish than what I put 😀

I use tuna too and red snapper fillet is expensive. Don't eat talapia

I love cooking with Shirani! I making panades today and I need a fresh up reminder!
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed your panades ❤️
Hi Shirani. I'm programmed for canned fish, so I just like out fresh tilapia. Thank you for this. Love the nails.
Aww, thank you 💅❤. I think I like both can and fresh fish. I'll take anyone as long as it's panades 😁

Was just wondering what is the different in texture. Thanks for sharing
You are welcome. With the maseca, the panades are more crispy.
I felt at home watching this 🇧🇿🇧🇿
❤️🇧🇿❤️
Omg!! There you are!! Hello 👋 my dear . I haven't seen you in a while.
Hello Sonia 🖐
Welcome back 😊
Hey Shirani, when you make the masa ball and ready to press the masa it depends on where you lean on the presser ❤
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it 😊❤
Looks delicious 😋 thanks for sharing 🙏❤
You are so welcome and thank you too 🥰
We followed your recipe today and it came out great.

Nice recipe I will be waiting for Belizean salbutes
Thank you! I already have it on my list of things to make 😊
Whoever can cook this!
Deserve a ring/trophy/medal and some more shit to be worship.😂
Definitely thumbs up from me
Thank you 😂❤️
How hot do you put the oil for the fryer? So excited to make these
I had my fryer set on 360°F. Enjoy your panades 😊
Hi dear, I always watched your videos. I noticed that you didn't add salt to the dough.
Hello! No, I didn't add salt because the seasoning I used has salt in it.
Looks amazing! Thank you for sharing
My pleasure ❤
Thank you. I tried a short time ago and they came out great. Can't make off too much as once as they crack. I would need some salt in the Maseca though(just me). Thank you.
You are welcome. If it cracks it either has too much baking powder or the dough is too dry. Hope that helps 😊
@@CookingwithShirani I might need to use a little more water. Used the exact measurements. I will make more as my entire family enjoyed. Thank you.
Hi Shirani! The way you prepared the masa, can it also be used for salbutes too?
Hello! Yes you can use it.
I’m sorry to bother you again, but I made your panades and they were a hit! But mine didn’t puff up like yours did. Do you know what I may have did wrong? Or have an idea?
Maybe you forgot to put your baking powder. Or your oil wasn't hot enough.
Shirani, we will try this! Sending love from Houston
Hope you all enjoy! Aww, much love back to you all in Houston 🤗
I mostly make my panades with can tuna.
The made panades with tuna for the first time last week and it was really good.
Quick question, Shirani, what does the baking powder do to the maseca?
The baking powder makes them puff up and more light and crispy.
@@CookingwithShirani You're awesome; thank you!💛
Love the video ! Can you do one making salbutes ?
Thank you Giselle. Yes I have it on my list of things to make 😊
Please do salbutes next 😋🤗
I already have it on my list of things to make 😊
Have you made it with beans yet? I like beans more than the fish. Thank you!
I love it with beans too. I'll put it on my list of things to make 😊
Thanks for the recipe panades is not too hard to make

I use either canola oil or vegetable oil.
will be doing a mukbang on panades pretty soon.
That's exciting 😁
