Love your fabrics! They are all really great with your colouring - you are so very aware of what suits you, and so very positive about making what will be not only handmade and beautiful, but functional in your wardrobe. It’s so, so easy to make lovely, party/wedding guest type dresses, and not what we actually will use. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished articles
I like the red fabric with white flowers. Would be wonderful for a wrap dress in my opinion. The yellow one with big patterns more suitable for a top as big patterns look better in a top. Liked all fabrics you bought.
Itch to stitch has a new cami that wraps in the back, I just bought it. Look at lifting pins and needles makes on her you tube channel, I loved her ruffle detail she added to hers.
Oh love a fabric haul ( especially when it isn't mine !) you have picked some lovely fabrics the sew over it Ella wrap top is so easy to make and is for a woven. I agree with another commenter that the Kielo would look lovely in the last two fabrics. If you have seen Gabby she is so in love with that pattern and it looks really easy to sew. I am so behind on vlog watching so am off to watch your last one now :)
You can tell if a fabric has viscose in when it’s wet. It feels sort of hard. Try it with something you know is viscose then check the beautiful green flower fabric when you wash it. It’s important to know if it has viscose because it will shrink if you tumble dry it.
Great fabrics, the keilo wrap dress someone mentioned would be great with the market fabrics. I used to work at the medical centre in Chrisp Street many moons ago, you bought back memories of market shopping at lunch time. Wasn't sewing then😢 Look forward to your makes
I made the Lander Shorts from True Bias and absolutely love them. I have already cut out a second pair (not sewn yet). These will both have the button fly but they came out with a zipper fly add on. I have the fabric to make the full pants version so I'm planning to try the zipper fly. The colors you select look so well on you. Nice job!! Can't wait to see them all made up!! =)
Look up Simplicity 1370 for a shorts pattern. It has a cute overlay in the front. It would be adorable on you. As for your fabric haul, you just crack me up. I love that you WANT to sew a lot of your fabrics before purchasing more fabric, but... I don’t know any sewist that has managed to achieve that. It’s an addiction. And it brings us great joy just to have the fabrics in our stash. I’ve been sewing for many, many years and have a fabric collection that boarders on hoarding, LOL. It’s all very organized and wrapped on fabric boards and amazing to look at. I could open up my own shop for all that I have and have been given. My goodness, I’ve been so blesssed. Just giving you a glimpse into your future as you continue on your sewing journey! It’s going to be fun to watch you acquire more sewing equipment down the road like an overlocker, cover stitch machine and updated sewing machine. Enjoy the journey!
Shazie - It looks like it sits on your natural waist, not low or high! The model has “snake hips” so it’s hard to tell! The pattern doesn’t mention high or low waisted either. I haven’t made them yet. I just bought the fabric for them.
Check out New Look Pattern 6560 for the wrap top... look forward to seeing what you make... also consider some skirt and top combos from the floral, then together they look like a dress and apart they can be mixed and matched
Gday Lizzie. Wow! your fabrix are just beautiful. You really do have an eye for lovely fabrics. Really looking forward to seeing your makes. Thanku for sharing. XX
Hi Lizzie & Folks. I just saw that Abi (over at The Crafty Pinup) used the Simplicity 8608 (wrap dress/playsuit with ruffle) pattern that you weren't 100% sure about for her Minerva makes project and she has some pro and con thoughts on it.
Mmm nice fabrics! I think I just randomly found the same market/fabric store you did - next to shadwell? Also, on a smart fitted cotton top, I just sewed burdastyle tie blouse 05/2017 110B and it was great!
Oh Lizzie, What a lovely organized box of fabric. Wait until you're old like me...56...collected fabric for 40 years....and you have 12 similar boxes...only bigger. That's not counting my latest new skills of spinning and weaving...nor the embroidery and leather making. Sigh!🤔🌺🌻
A kielo wrap dress would be lovely in either of the market fabrics? Abi from Crafty Pinup has so,e thoughts on the Simplicity pattern that’s worth checking out.
Check reviews on the patterns you choose in case there are problems with making them or sew-a-longs. Good luck. The selections are gorgeous for your skin tone.
You bought some gorgeous fabrics. I have been admiring the Atelier Brunette ones from afar. I suggest that you prewash the double gauze before you choose a pattern, as generally that type of fabric softens quite a bit with washing (Be sure to finish the edges first, wash in a mesh bag, hang to dry as it shrinks and frays.). I just saw a wrap the from Merchant and Mills, the Heron, that looks nice. For dresses in viscose (the florals) -- maybe the faux wrap, Butterick 6446? Also the Liesl and Co. Soho Shorts in viscose would make a great outfit paired with a matching top. Enjoy making all your plans! Thanks for sharing.
Lovely fabric haul and so well thought out. The sewoverit Eve dress is a good pattern. The other pattern which is loose but skimming is the Cocoon dress by Simple Sew. It would be great in the green tropical fabric and you could use a belt too.I think I loved the last two cheap fabrics a lot. ( you will probably see them elsewhere for a lot more) I also splurged on the Atelier brunette in pink and only bought 1.5 metres from Harriet and plan a pussy bow blouse so hope it’s enough fabric.😁🤔
Hi Lizzie, your last market fabrics would look great as a Kielo dress and would show the fabric of beautifully. They looked great against your hair colour 💞. I was thinking the lovely red and white flower fabric would look great as Ana's new dress and top Honeycomb pattern from CocoWawa crafts or maybe a kimono of some kind 😊. Looking forward to seeing what you make Lizzie 😁😘
I think your t-shirt fabric for the jumpsuit might be a bit think. Viscose jersey has a nice drape and might be more suitable. Lovely colours though and.I love the last fabric you held up!
Be careful of the simplicity wrap dress- crafty pinup made it and it’s quite wonky- as in flounce on one side of neckline is very gathered & other side isn’t at all.
Don't feel guilty unless you don't make anything...you have picked some beautiful fabrics and patterns. Hopefully the bargain fabric sews up nice. Sometimes the cheap stuff is more time consuming and difficult but worth a shot because of the price. 😀. Have a great day.
Another wrap dress option (with a little ruffle too!) that I think would look great on you! The Annabelle Woven Dress by StyleArc. www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/annabelle-woven-dress/
Burda Style magazine July 2018 has a cute wrap top at 102. Unfortunately in the photograph she is holding a beverage bottle covering the most interesting part of the top. Look book is here: www.burdastyle.com/blog/burdastyle-magazine-072018-lookbook
Lizzie I think you definitely now have to buy the Kielo pattern by Named :) You would suit this dress so well and your flowered viscoses would make beautiful Kielos www.namedclothing.com/shop/kielo-wrap-dress/ Katja has a blog post on how to make this pattern into a jumpsuit as well which would look also lovely on you :) Love your Atelier Brunettes - we don't have that fabric in Canada (sadly!) and having it sent from the UK would bring the cost into the stratosphere for us so I've always stopped myself from ANY clicking temptation :)
I've got to say you English have the oddest looking prints that you wear. The great thing about patterns is that you can CHANGE them up. The dress with the elastic casing you didnt like can be switched out to a casing with bias tape made out of the fabric or a use a cotton cording. Live large stop following the marketing of patterns and create your own ! an lastly linen with rayon is a much better choice which is what you should of used for those shorts.
So proud of your fabric stash ! it's what we do.
Don't feel guilty we enjoy looking at what you buy lol I am looking forward to seeing what you make
A great haul and I’m sure you’ll enjoying every minute of your makes. Have you considered the SOI wrap top? I think it’s called Ella.
Love all of your fabrics and I admire you for having such a clear perception of your ideal colour palette. Looking fwd to seeing your makes.
I love the floral fabrics you've got! I'm a similar colouring and agree it's not easy to colours that compliment it.x
I like the red fabric with white flowers. Would be wonderful for a wrap dress in my opinion. The yellow one with big patterns more suitable for a top as big patterns look better in a top. Liked all fabrics you bought.
Absolutely love the bottle green floral!! All of the colors will look amazing on you!! You really are spot on, on the colors that look good on you!!!
Thank you so much!! Colour is the main thing that decides it for me when it comes to fabric shopping x
Such a massive haul. The floral would make nice jumpsuits
Itch to stitch has a new cami that wraps in the back, I just bought it. Look at lifting pins and needles makes on her you tube channel, I loved her ruffle detail she added to hers.

Look at the inside the hem June makes. She talks about that Simplicity wrap dress.
How fun, planning a luscious wardrobe for a honeymoon.
I agree the Megan Neilsen shorts pattern calls for a more structured fabric, nice choice.
Gorgeous fabric. They should keep you busy for sure, but what an amazing wardrobe you will have.

Love that Atelier Brunette sort of painterly fabric.

Loriann Payne is that pattern highwaisted?

Fantastic fabric haul! Lovely to see thar you are so excited to have found those florals!TSF!

That dark blue fabric is gorgeous! What about the River Dress (also a top) by Megan Nielsen?

Love all of your fabrics happy sewing
Both Sew Over It and Seamwork have wrap top patterns :-)
Besides, when you are ready to start sewing for your Spring honeymoon the light floaty fabrics won’t be out yet so you HAVE to get them now 😁
Us sewers never need an excuse to buy fabric or should we feel guilty for doing so
Be careful of the simplicity wrap dress- crafty pinup made it and it’s quite wonky- as in flounce on one side of neckline is very gathered & other side isn’t at all.
The Ella blouse maybe
