What It's Like to Fly in an Airplane

  • I recently took a plane trip to visit family. I have taken airplanes many times before. Recently I have heard a few people tell me that they have never been in a plane and were curious what it was like so I decided that I would make this. In this video I was flying from Tampa, Florida to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. ENJOY!
    -First I show the plane taking off
    -Second I show the plane above the clouds
    -Third I show the plane going THROUGH clouds with a lot of turbulence.
    -Fourth I show the city lights at night time from the sky.

      @@cocothekitty actually, it is better not to isolate yourself from outside stuff. Don't use ear plugs to "hide" (but use it to protect your hearing), face your fears instead. It is way harder, but you will get used to it due to the thing called "desensibilisation". Or just visit a good aviation psychologist.

      Yes, we can, but better talk to a proper doctor. At least when you watch this, do it repeatedly - this way is goes away little by little. And subscribe to a good pilot's channel like maybe, Mentour.

    Here's something that helped me with turbulence: Have you ever been driving on the highway in your car and you put your arm out the window? Did you feel the force of the air bouncing your hand around? Usually no matter how hard you try, you can't keep your fingertips perfectly still. It's the exact same thing on a plane's wing. That's all it is, it's us flying through the breeze that was coming or going in that particular spot. Now whenever there is turbulence I just think of my arm out the window on a summer day, bouncing around in the breeze. Easy peasy :)

      Natali L For different people its different experiences. Turbulence is when the plane flies through unstable air, and it causes the plane to lightly shake. Although its scary it is in NO way dangerous. Now taking off. When the plane reaches the runway it speeds up in order to get the plane airborne. That for me is a satisfying feeling. You will feel the plane speed up but when you takeoff its smooth sailing.

    Just so people aren’t afraid to fly, my dad is around 50 and he was in the navy. He always flew around off ships to different countries. Of his fifty years of living, he is fine to this day.
    If you are scared of crashing then don’t be. Planes BARELY crash. In fact, they like never crash now. With technology being so advanced we are sure to be safe. Plus, people check every little speck of the plan to make sure it’s in tip top shape.
    Turbulence, if wondering, cannot crash the plane. It cannot. Turbulence does not crash planes because it is just wind and won’t hurt the plane. There will be bumps here and there but it’s like a car on a road. There are potholes and bumps scattered. Sometimes you don’t have any. Weather causes turbulence and if there is bad weather the flight will be delayed.
    Hopefully you feel better about flying and have a good day! ❤️

      This was exactly my main fear for my first time, the fact that you're so incredibly high up in a giant tube with literally nothing between your feet and the ground but open sky. It's terrifying if you get a panic attack up there because it's something you literally have no control over. You can only wait until the flight is over. I'm not trying to discourage you, apologies for giving that sort of tone. I just had the same experience and eventually did my first flight and it turned out good, if you did it excellent, if you still haven't there's really nothing to worry about honestly, once you're up there you won't think about it. 🙂

      Not sure. I'm honestly afraid of heights but I love roller coasters and airplanes. I think it feels different when I'm strapped in an official whatchamajiggy. However...if I'm walking and look over an edge.... I do not like it.... Or those videos of those parkour guys on top of high buildings. Uggghh I hate it. LOL

      Don't get a window seat

    • @dnicolejackson
      @dnicolejackson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I am scared of heights, and was terrified of flying after 9/11. My community was personally impacted by that event, and it made the tragedy feel a lot more "real" to me. Even though I had been a frequent flyer before, I then became terrified of flying. It took me a few years to overcome this. I did so by flying often. I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but I booked a flight everywhere I could. My undergrad and Masters degrees are both in psychology. So, I was trying to perform Exposure Therapy on myself, and it worked. Also, the suggestion of not getting a window seat wouldn't have been a good one for me. Oddly enough, seeing what's going on outside of the plane is extremely calming for me. I think many of us fear heights or flying due to a lack of control. When you can at least see what's going on outside of the plane, I think (even though we still have no control) it gives us a little bit of that back. So, in short ;) my advice is to fly often, and book a window seat, and if you can book a seat with a little extra room - even better!

      My ears don't hurt, no, but if you don't (or can't) alleviate the pressure somehow, I imagine it would hurt. I do both swallow or pinch my nose and blow air to manipulate the pressure in my ears (if I'm diving deep in water, blowing air like this counteracts the pressure of the water so it doesn't hurt).

      Hey buddy. I also have been suffering from panic attacks for 15 years. They are pretty much under control nowadays (without meds). I can understand your concerns. I remember being afraid to get a panic attack on the plane but I love flying so much and I guess there is so much going on that I never ended up having that problem. When I feel a panic attack coming on my main go-to's are drinking water and taking a bath. Maybe just try to prepare yourself with those things that help to pacify the feeling of an oncoming panic attack. Once you're in the seat and looking out the window, so much will be going on.

      Me too I am in the exact same boat . I’ve never been on an airplane but I am going on one for the first time in exactly a week from now . I am 23 and I’ve had panic attacks since 11 years ago . I am not afraid of the airplane crashing either I know the statistics and I know they are really safe. What I am sacred is getting a panic attack on an airplane and loosing control of myself . But I try and remember that in every panic attack I always calm down at the end , I think of all the panic attacks I’ve conquered and this one is no different! Do the same things you’ve always done to try and calm yourself . And go with someone don’t go alone if you have panic attacks . Just remember that you won’t die from a panic attack that’s what helps me , no one has died from one you will always be okay after the attack is over . Try and be okay with having a panic attack , it’s like a bad movie that won’t last long , it’s temporal . Yes they are scary but just know it’s a feeling . I tell myself it’s just a feeling it’s just in my head . But once my hands start cramping up it doesn’t feel so much in my head anymore and that’s when I tell myself it will pass it’s temporal and I think of the calm sensation I feel after it’s over

    That feeling, when coughing nearby scares you more than the flight itself...
    To those ones who's scared: watch this 10-20 times or more and note how slightly better you start to feel - this is called desensibilisation. Go get some knowledge on how aviation works and - you know what to do to fly better)
    P.S.: don't "grab" the airplane, it will only make things worse. And its weight is roughly 60 tons.

    I am a teenager who has been on multiple plane rides throughout my whole life and i know how to navigate the airport really well, and i have a trip coming up some time i think maybe this november or december, it has been several months since i have been on a trip. i love the feeling of being in the airport and especially flying on airplanes. It makes me feel this way that makes me comfortable and really relaxed and unstressed. i get to pack my bags, take a bunch of important belongings with me and go out and relieve all my stresses from school and everything else. when i go on these breaks to fly to another state and visit other family, it is usually from a week - a few months. longest is summer break, also there is christmas break, thankgiving break and a few others. i love being on a airplane and a lot of people could disagree with me on this, but being with all the people makes me feel safe. my airport is not really crowded which is good. it does have a lot of people but not too much to make me feel discomfort.

    My first time on an airplane was on April 24th. It was so much fun! It was just like riding a roller coaster. I rode the airplane with Mommy. We went to South Carolina to see my brother graduate from Navy school. Mommy is deathly afraid of heights. When she was a little girl in Laos, she climbed up a tall mango tree. She got stuck up there and was too scared to come down, so her father, my only living biological grandparent, had to rescue her. I couldn't see much out the window, but it felt like I was riding a roller coaster. The whole entire family, except for Daddy, who now lives in a nursing home due to the stroke he had 11 years ago, went to watch my brother graduate.

    i love flying. i’m 15 and been flying since i was 7 months old. it’s my favorite thing and we travel a lot so i’m grateful i get to fly. don’t be nervous bc this is the safest way to travel. super rare for something to happen. if u get car sick there’s a chance u can get airsick take dramamine works like a charm

      Same! But I'm just one year younger. Started at 5 month. How often have you been on a flight? And what was your longest?

    I hate rollercoasters though, the last time I been on one was last year around March in universal, but does it feel different while on a plane then a rollercoaster?

    • @BlakeBlackstone
      @BlakeBlackstone  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nebulous Girl Gamer yes. it doesn't feel anything like a roller coaster unless there is turbulence. That's when you feel your stomach tickle.

      What is turbulance

    • @BlakeBlackstone
      @BlakeBlackstone  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      tur·bu·lence
      ˈtərbyələns/
      noun
      violent or unsteady movement of air or water, or of some other fluid.
      "the plane shuddered as it entered some turbulence"

      Nebulous Girl Gamer It feels like nothing really, just normal but I personally feel lighter on a plane.
