Presenting the The Kashmir Files Interview with director Vivek Agnihotri and producer-actor Pallavi Joshi. The Lallantop editor Saurabh Dwivedi talks to Vivek about the making of Kashmir Files, how the research took place? Why Anupam Kher’s face is painted with Shiva metaphor in the Hindi film, and the rich Kashmiri heritage behind it? The Kashmir files, which is raking in moolah at the box office, is also creating polarizing reaction in the society. One question the critics of the film are asking is why the then governor Jagmohan was not mentioned in the film who was one of the key figures in this historical episode. Director Vivek Agnihotri is also asked, what did he talk when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently after which Modi Strongly defended the film. One of the major criticisms of The Kashmir Files is, that it shows the killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the film, but completely omits the killings of Kashmiri Muslims by the terrorists. what I think is a major amount of money collected by film needs to be donated to Kashmiri pandits and help them to get back to their respective places. The film should not only benefit producers and directors to increase their wealth but should also help the actual victims i.e Kashmiri Pandits, Showing someones pain is good but in a practical manner they need support as well.

Excellent film. As pointed out by Pallavi Joshi in the interview, I was also unaware of the genocide until I saw the film. Incidentally I was 44 years old at that time.
The Kashmir Files is not against Muslims but radicalised Muslims, Those who are against this movie are not pro-Muslims but pro-radicalised Muslims.

Dekhiye mudda ye nahi hai ki kisne kiya tha kon zimmedar tha un sabka mudda ye hai ki 20 saal me ab tak ek bhi family wapis nahi jaa payi. I am Kashmiris and i am in government job, and in every govt office Kashmiri pandits are here. They only want to keep this issue alive for their benefit. Not just Hindus, all Indian origin Muslims (Pak, B'desh, etc) should also watch this movie. Their ancestors must have suffered similar atrocities and forced to convert by the invaders. Its a reflection of their history as well, just from a few centuries earlier.

I watched this film the 1st day, felt emotional & it was painful. If there is anything to take from this movie or its story is Religious extremism is dangerous & Political power misuse is more dangerous. Kashmiri Pandits were massacred and their sufferings must be acknowledged. Justifying it or saying that even Muslims were killed is a belittling thing to say. There's no doubt that even Muslims were killed and we need to remember every single life lost irrespective of their religion. The takeaway lesson from such movies is that radicalism, extremism should be stopped and violence is never the answer.
People like you will bring the change ! It will be hard but you will !!

I worked in Srinagar from September, 88 to January, 92 in a nationalised bank . My family was also there for some months. Most of the events shown in film are real. Sometimes in winter I used to stay alone during long days of curfew. I used to carry two things while going office , one was bank id and the other was curfew pass.
Kashmir Genocide/exodus was one of the Darkest days in Indian history and it still hurts. Kashmiri Pandit's genocide showed us
1) How VP Singh Government supported by BJP failed to save KPs and supported the Govt even after these brutal events
2) How Congress mis-administered after BJP misadministration
3) How Faruq & Omar Abdullahs remained silent and watched the killings and then supported the same people who killed KPs
4) How Mehbuba Mufti & her terrorist friends killed Kashmiri Pandits and how BJP supported Mehbuba Mufti and formed Government with her
5) 30 years since this event, BJP had 6 years of Atal ji Govt & 8 years of Modi ji Govt total 14 years power and still BJP didn't do anything for Kashmiri Pandits
6) Congress had 15 years power and still Congress didn't do anything for Kasmiri Pandits
7) This showed us how BJP Govt released Jaish-e-mohammad terrorists and the same terrorists killed 200+ Soldiers & 150+ Civilians later including Pulwama Attacks
8) Showed us how BJP & Congress only cared about politics and power and gaining Votes and how they daily killed the souls of already martyred Kashmiri Pandit Brothers.
My heart goes for Kashmiri Pandit Brothers and everyone who suffered because these Power Hungry Parties of India 💔

This is still same in Kashmir that time it was on pandits so it was called injustice from 1960 it's on local kashmiri life and still going on and no one likes to talk about it. Still after 7pm onward kashmiri are still afraid for going out without I'd card. What would you call it now?

if not much read a little history of this issue. You'll know everything. Just a little bit is that during that period militants attacked Kashmir (i repeat not pandits only ) they attacked whole kashmir and 1724 people were killed among them 300 something were pandits and 1400+ were local kashmiri's(majority killed were local kashmiri's, which no one talk about). That time kashmir had Sikhs also pandits also Muslims also. Then pandits felt unsafe and left kashmiri. It was not an attack on them and local kashmiri's didn't did it neither locals forced them to leave. It was done by militants maybe from Pakistan or some other countries. Sikh didn't left, Muslims didn't left ..thay are still living there and pandits left. now bjp is using it as vote bank from a long time and if you know the director of movie is also from bjp.
This movie is one sided as it showing about injustice with kashmiri pandits only what about kashmiri Muslims? Majority killed were local kashmiri's when pandits were only 360. This completely shows it not a movie, it is scratching wounds of past and dividing religions in India by showing "HINDU KHATRE MAI HAIN" which is vote bank for BJP.
Last thing is kashmiri pandits didn't left completey. Nearly 50-60% of them still have land in Kashmir on their own names and they are currently running businesses.
Nearly 20% of these 60% stll live in Kashmir with their whole families happily, And this is truth!

Buddhism spread because chineese traveller s who studied Buddha's teachings from India and Nepal, they got the knowledge from rishis and hindu gurukuls and centers of learning like Nalanda and taxilla , Kashmir and leh they were taught teachings of Buddha and also auyerveda ,geeta and Vedas and this has been self written by many chineese travellers ..
And this ( the impact of Hinduism ) on Buddhism we can see even today ,ankor wat was a hindu temple which Buddhists later kept Buddha's idol there ,the way of praying in Buddhism is same as in sanatan dharm , the concept of Karma ,dharma were first explained by Krishna in geeta . Thailand before Buddhism became majority was a follower of dharma and impact can be seen today in its royal family too, Thailand airport has scene from samundar manthan, many Buddhists from Thailand, Tibet see lord Ganesha as god of prosperity and good fortune ..

this is so true...i found tashkent files trailer so engrossing..but was moved against it to watch on theatre as TOI had given half star to the film...i later watched it on OTT and regretted...
