Adam: What's going on everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we have a 2020 Chevy Silverado and we're going to be taking a look at the Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover. So this is going to be a great option, I'm really a fan of this tonneau cover and the nice thing about it is that it is retractable but we're going to get the best of both worlds in my opinion. It's going to be made of vinyl and aluminum, so everything underneath is vinyl strip. You see here is going to be aluminum and they are bonded together, so we're not going to really run into any issues of bubbling or anything like that. So it's going to give you the security of a hard tonneau cover but the nice sleek look of a soft tonneau over with the vinyl.
So there's other options that we can do as you guys can kind of tell there's a little bit different finish between these metal rails over here and the vinyl itself. So we can actually have one that isn't going to include the vinyl, it's just going to be powder coated aluminum. So that's going to look a little bit better for you guys, definitely go ahead and check that out. I just kind of like this just because we don't have any scenes or anything, we don't have any cracks in between those little slots of aluminum. But it definitely is a good looking tonneau cover. So one thing to note, it all pretty much rolls right up into this little tiny box, it's smaller than most toolboxes.
So if you can just imagine having a toolbox, we're really not taking up a whole lot of bed space so that's definitely a plus. The nice thing about it is we're going to have great seals, so even back of our bulkhead here by our cab we're going to have a nice seal. So if anything does get back there it's not going to work its way into the bed of the truck. So if you guys like to keep some sort of valuables in there, something like that we don't want to have to worry about it getting too watered down.So right here we also got another seal, nice rubber seal kind of just flares out. It's nice and sealed up and then underneath here we actually do have a foam seal as well.
So it's going to be sealed all the way through so far and it really doesn't sit up hardly, maybe an 1/8 of an inch at most, not much at all. So if you're one to maybe after you guys golf a couple of rounds of golf you just come around and you want to talk by the bed of your truck. You can, you're not going to have these big bulky things sitting up on your rails, so that is definitely a plus. The seals keep on coming, as you can see right here we got a huge rubber seal and that is going to just prevent all the water from coming in between our tailgate and our tonneau cover. So definitely a lot of seals on here, so if any water does get in there it's not going to be a whole lot.
The nice thing about this is too, it's really, really simple. You just go ahead and just pinch these two together and it's just going retract to nicely like that. So you really don't need anything but two fingers to get it pulled back and obviously when we go ahead and pull it up just as easy with the strap. So I'm definitely a fan of that just because. I'm not a fan of the folding tonneau covers just because, I don't like to block the back window of my Silverado. So whenever we do have it completely rolled up we're not going to lose any visibility there and as you guys can see this little tiny box it's definitely a lot shorter than a normal toolbox. So we have a lot more room underneath as well, and whatever water does accumulate in this box or anywhere it is going to be able to drain. We have two different drain holes which is nice and those are just going to basically go from wherever the water is coming from back down through a factory hole in the bed of the Silverado. So again no drilling required whatsoever, which is definitely a plus for me.Another thing I really like about it is that we don't really take up a whole lot of bed space. We only have about two inches from these rails that actually stick out into the bed and even our knobs here are a little bit further in. It really is not a lot of hardware that you're putting on the inside of your truck and I don't think it's going to limit you for doing anything you guys usually do when you didn't have a tonneau cover on. Also, the hardware is actually really, really kind of cool, innovative and really simple to install and I kind of liked that. Just because you know they actually did put a lot of time and effort into designing the hooks and it really was a really easy inst

12:05 is key. If you don't do that precisely, you will have problems. the rails will tilt down and the sliding cover will come out. too many headaches
