You guys work sooo hard!. I am a dog trainer.. not in herding.. but in dog agility. Suggestion.. perhaps call the trainer that you bought Spot from, use this person, and ask for what he did for focus exercises... especially the stay. I think you should always start the day before you go out in the field and do a quick reinforcing warm up. You don't need to spend a lot of precious time on this. Perhaps minutes to gain a CONNECTION before heading out to the exciting crazy work. Competing we did this before every run. My take.. she isn't being given the opportunity to be positively reinforced for what she does well and what she doesn't. That trainer handed over a dog with SHARP skills because that is what he does for a living. But you need his help. And remember Spot is just a baby at 2 years old ( especially a BC which I have owned )and what you engrain in her now will be very important moving forward. YOU are under a lot of pressure right now.. don't want you to fail. You just bought a Cadillac of dogs and paid a lot of money for her and her training. Putting Meg back in.. is that such a good idea for her. It is all up to you. Thanks for sharing! Love from the USA!!
Did you get chance to run her with some of the ewes that a not pregnant? I thought that was a great idea when you mentioned it a bit back. Maybe keeping some to practice with daily even for a few minutes would be worth it.
You are 100% right. Cammie is under a lot of pressure and Spottie is an exceptional dog. I’ve found some (NOT pointing fingers) forget new owners need help polishing performance so they can have the best possible bond built to last a lifetime. Remembering this is a generalization .
I have just finished lambing down here in Devon and have to thank you for your videos on lambing as they were very informative and I followed every instruction. got thrown in at the deep end to lamb 80 ewes for my first time. We did have three late stage abortions, found to be enzootic abortion, alamycin and all went fine. 5 dead lambs and a superb crop of lambs. Good luck for this season.
I learned a long time ago, carrying a pocket knife is like putting your pants on in the morning. I got my hand caught under the tongue of a two wheeled wagon loaded with 200 bushels of ear corn.the field was froze and the only things in reach were corn stalks that had been through the bbn picker. I dug with my loose hand, thg I'll I ripped all my fingernails off. Then just sat there to wait till.I was missed and help would come. That was about an hour. Since then I never leave the house without a knife in my pocket or on my belt.
So sorry that you had a tough day. Spock probably sensed your tension, because when he's working well, he's really in sync with you. It's going to be exciting to see lambing season again. Last year was my first time watching, so now I know how busy you're going to be for a few weeks. Thank you for the extra effort doing the videos. I'll be praying for you all every day.❤
Sorry you lost those ewes and lambs. ☹️ The heart ache of managing livestock.🐑🐑🐑 Sounds like we are having similar weather. We had crazy wind gust and tons of rain here last night in Ontario 🇨🇦. (Overnight April 1st) 🌬️🌧️🌬️🌬️🌧️ Btw, Lizzie your eyebrows look fabulous. 😎
Ah Cammy, what a day you had after the storm. So sorry for the lost ewes but glad the posts were negative. Love catching you and Lizzy and the boys working together. And I’m still in awe of Lizzy….🤷♀️ 💪🏻 As a nurse that never has been around any farm animals, what are the risks with human pregnancy around the lambing ewes? I’m sure there are some, just wondering what exposures can do? Hope that makes sense….thanks for sharing Cammy and Lizzy! High point in a stormy day in Nashville (with tornado watches!)…🙏🏻🫶🏻xx
Sheep diseases that cause spontanious abortion can sometimes be transmitted to pregnant women. It is not a good idea for a pregnant human to handle any aborted animal, or birthing animal. Cammy should also take precautions before being around Lizzy after doing it. He should be wearing gloves and making sure he changes his clothes before touching her.
Oh Cuz, I am so sorry about that ewe. Oh my word is Lizzy getting that pregnancy glow! 🥰 she is absolutely beautiful and I just had to mention that. Give her and boys a kiss for me. ❤ Love you guys!
That was unfortunate for two Sets of triplets. Hopefully the rest of lambing will go much better. Jock is getting to be quite a little farmer. ❤ Hope Lizzy is feeling okay. Great vlog 👍👍
Jocks beautiful curls to great us❤️🥰👍. Hope your troubles will be small. Oh, what a shame. Farm life is difficult at times and there are some losses. Lizzy is nice looking and there’s Jock is playing nicely with his toy. And he wants to help you. Jock loves riding his motorbike. The weather certainly causes issues.👍
Hello Cammy and welcome back and as always I really appreciate and enjoy watching your lifestyle documentary video channel countryside content video and as always beautiful sharing footage compilation and you doing such an amazing job .. keep it up and stay safe my friend .. thanks again from Montreal QC Canada
Love to see Jock on his 4 wheeler just like Dad!!! I don't know how Lizzy handles everything as calmly as she does. You really lucked out that Lizzy loves you, Cammy!!!!
Great video very educational, I’m delighted that your Auld’s timer Meg still has her uses . Spot is a great asset to you both but he’s still young and can’t compete to Meg’s seniority and experience . Bring on the victory rolls Meg 🫶
Lizzy doesn't even look pregnant yet! I looked and felt like a beached whale by that point lol! She must take amazing care of herself! Can't wait to see the wee baby girl xo
I lost a mare in a bad thunderstorm many years ago; we think a paddock mate kicked her in the chest during the storm, severed an artery, and she bled out. Sh*t happens, despite the best of care. Sorry for the losses! Glad the autopsies were clear. On we go!
The weather has not helped any of you Farmers in the uk and Ireland and Scotland. One day at a time . Keep on keeping on. You have such a hood attitude. Thankyou for the vidio . Love seeing your kids put and about with you .
Lizzy congrats to you seems you are an amazing person! Not only are you a farmer but a Mun! But all the other stuff that comes with it. Cleaner, house keeper and cook! You are an amazing woman! Well done!
The thing about Spot is that he is just so eager to help Which means you will have to tell him to lie down or stay far more often than you would like Pretty sure with time and experience he will learn your ways and adapt to them Such intelligent dogs
We had a horrible storm like that and early on in the pregnancy of a triplet. She ended ran through a fence with stitches and evidently lost one lamb from the stress. Ended by lambing two big nice lambs and one tiny dead mummy. Storms can be stressors.
I would keep going with Spock - or run him with Meg - he has to learn and that takes practice - for him and you - you know you have to be clear and precise with them so he understands what you are wanting and is not making up what to do on the fly so that is you Cami using the whistle commands without thinking - practice practice practice
Do people throw litter into the pens? Here in America it's a big problem, we had to plant brush between the road and the fence so people wouldn't poison our sheep. Just wondering because if I had an ewe dead that close to the road I'd assume she ate something she shouldn't have. Then again, I hear people are much nicer in Europe so maybe it's not a problem. I wish you the best with your lambing!
😊keep the chin up , we all have our losses and we all have mixed years , and bad start can always be a good finish.Anybody thats says they have no losses is a liar.We found that while the mule is a fantastic mother 3 crops was enough as there were too many triplets and they end up putting everything into the lambs and thus have no milk .
Real interesting getting to hear and see your reasoning, both your own thoughts and the discussions with Lizzy. I think this is what I like the best with your videos. It's sucks that you have to worry so but the amount you care for the ladies' health and wellbeing show very clear whenever problems arise. A thought on Spottelispockelispockspott, do you think he would understand better of you used the whistle as the trainer used that? Or did he learn equal amounts on voice and whistle? And oh, in Sweden we clap the dog but spell it klappa.
Lizzy I pee outside too :) Have done for years. Still do. Men can so why can't we. Its faster and easier. I think Spot was trying just the orders were a bit off. Not that I am an expert.....but have learned a lot here and remember that Meg took a long time too to get it right. Love her. He will come around to. hugs

Help me understand, please. You say the ewe scanned triplets, she aborted a single lamb. What happened to the other two? Or am I misunderstanding?
Great question! I never found any more foetus for either ewe. I’d say most likely scenario is that they reabsorbed them.
