    Your creativity and attention to detail never ceases to amaze me! The fact that this is all done with plywood, standard hardware and regular tools makes it even better. I'm looking forward to Part 2 :-)

    It's... a hand portable thickness planer. That's absolutely brilliant.

  • @danceswithaardvarks3284

    Really like this design. I made one this afternoon. It is a little different, because I drilled a 10mm hole on both sides at rear of the planer to allow a rod to go all the way through (similar to the edge guide holes at the front). This will also allow longer bars to be used for planing wider boards, using two parallel rails.
    Thank you for sharing your ideas.

    • @nnamerz
      @nnamerz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was also wanting to make one that could plane wider boards but I didn't quite follow how your modification works. Would it be possible to elaborate a bit further? Thank you

      i'll tell you why, i'm a carpenter of 40 years, started when only hand planers were used, so used electric when they were first on the market. things like these adaptations are pointless, if you cant work with wood without doing all this tweaking perfectly good tools then you are either in the wrong job, or not very good at carpentry.

    • @vext001
      @vext001 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andyhardinga1768 I think that's pretty arrogant. You're a carpenter, you've been doing this for 40 years, and if a do-it-yourselfer builds a device for his hobby then you'll condemn that. I've been working in IT for 30 years and would never think of criticizing anyone for the way he uses a computer or which tools he uses to pursue his HOBBY !

    Do you notice that when you turn on, and especially when you turn off the drill, does the speed increase? This is because the drill is not working at its nominal power. You should actuate the trigger with a seal at its maximum travel and place an extra switch on the machine frame. Even the perforations are going out more accurate. Greetings from Argentina!

    31.87mm, 31.87mm, then 31.91mm. 0.05mm, or 0.019 inches, that's still off a bit more than would like, seems larger than just a change of pressure of the caliper. 20 thousandths would be quite a gap you could see light (it is larger than 1/64"). BUT I don't know if you planed both sides parallel or not, I don't think the video shows that.

    • @makario9007
      @makario9007 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why do you need a precision better than 0.05 mm if you work with wood? You would have to control moisture precisely for keeping dimensional accuracy in this range. The precision which is achieved here is absolutely adequate for the material and the price of the tool. Great job by JSK 👍
