    The people who play in these tournaments are truly the real life Pokemon Masters

      it is difficult to fight teams of ubers with technical supports but its far more difficult to build non-uber teams that play out unique strategies. nice to see more than Amoongus Kanga leads this year though

    Going back and watching VGC matches from previous years, the thumbnail of this match really tells you everything you need to know about the 2016 meta, featuring both primals and a mega rayquaza.

    • @chanderule605
      @chanderule605 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are always prevalent Pokémon features on majority of teams
      Theyve allowed legends since otherwise the meta would be the same as '15, and it made a ton of interesting strategies and made otherwise half-decent Pokémon relevant (Raichu, Bronzong)

    Welcome to VGC, where primals are allowed and timer stalling will take you to the top!

    • @rek_sai_only1430
      @rek_sai_only1430 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ethan Erwin Pokemon is like the only competitive place where timer stalling can win you games. It's just a joke to include ''great sportsmanship'' in a tournament where you win because of timer stall.

    that other guy totally won if it wasnt timer stalled like what is this...isnt time stalling against the rules or something or considered as bad sport? yet its encouraged ??

    • @educunhapkmn
      @educunhapkmn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blue Zard it's actually not, according to the updated rules. Timer stalling actually requires a decent amount of skill, since you have to plan the damage you're allowed to take multiple turns ahead. It's also not easy to notice the time running down.

      H4V0C excuse me, but the most common team throughout the season was Xerneas Groudon Smeargle Kangaskhan Salamence and talonflame. The rayquaza Kyogre team you see here was built by 3 players and had plenty of innovative techs.

    So you can win through timer just by making sure all of your pokemon have higher max hp values??? That's just stupid. Should look at remaining pokemon numbers, their hp, THEN % team hp remaining. Fainted team hp values mean literally nothing but are valued higher than remaining pokemon's hp??? smh.

  • @camronreynosa4958
    @camronreynosa4958 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    is this what competitive pokemon is now :( everyone using the same generalized teams of primals, xerneous and cressilia with a choice of ubers and a mega kangaskan? wheres the creative players? it pretty much "who can play the popular team better" rather then "who's unique lineup will reign triumphant" maybe next pokemon tournemt will be different with the release of sun and moon...

    • @educunhapkmn
      @educunhapkmn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      camron reynosa the most popular team didn't even make the top32! This was actually a year full of variety!

    • @camronreynosa4958
      @camronreynosa4958 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      EmbC
      i keep seeing primals rayquaza and cressilia

    • @educunhapkmn
      @educunhapkmn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cresselia wasn't even on this set. Actually, there wasn't a single Cresselia on top 4 of the World Championships. Also, we were allowed to use 2 legends per team this season. Not doing so would be foolish. It ended up being a fun format precisely because of that. It's a similar concept to other games. You have 2 main powerhouses that you have to protect by playing carefully and wisely!

    • @educunhapkmn
      @educunhapkmn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's not just those 3. Look at the top 100 of Worlds and show me someone using the most common team of the format (Xerneas Groudon Smeargle Kangaskhan Smeargle Talonflame). You'll only find japanese players using it. Only 2 Xerneas+Groudon users made top 8 and plenty of interesting Xerneas+Rayquaza combos did well. Those 2 together are a very uncommon duo. Also, the fun of competitive pokémon is the strategy. Seeing too many uncommon Pokémon just makes it an unpredictable showdown of weak moves. What's the fun in that? The beauty of competitive is a mix of clever thinking and solid plans, as well as strong teambuilding. Sure, seeing the same stuff over and over can be annoying, especially if you're too lazy to try to understand what's going on, but you can't even complain about this specific tournament! We had 3 Hitmontop in top 4! Do you have any idea of how rare of a Pokémon that used to be? We also had 2 Assault Vest Raichu, a Safeguard Kangaskhan, a Substitute Groudon, 2 Swords Dance Rayquaza and the list goes on! I understand that you enjoy variety, but damaging the community's image with those comments isn't fair. Thank you for your time, and I hope you understand how hurtful it can be for us, players, to see how upset the more casual community feels about us.

    • @joeynoodles5973

      Ashely Gordon have you ever tried to timer stall before? Do you have any idea of how hard it is to plan hp numbers multiple turns prior?

    • @Ketchupplant
      @Ketchupplant 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +EmbC Don't bother. The people writing those comments don't even play VGC. It like me hating on Nascar.

    • @recognition21
      @recognition21 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ketchupplant You don't need to play VGC to realize how unaligned the game timer was to the skills the competitions are supposed to be measuring. Don't bother arguing with this because that's exactly why timer rules have changed for WCS 2017

    • @Ketchupplant
      @Ketchupplant 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +recognition21 But you kinda do. It's not just 'waiting out the time'. You still need to make the right (defensive) plays, or sometimes even offensive plays to maintain momentum. Most people that don't play VGC don't realize that.

    • @recognition21
      @recognition21 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ketchupplant
      You're misunderstanding my post.
      I'm not trying to belittle the complex strategy behind playing under shared time. I'm emphasizing that this layer of strategy is not condoned by Worlds, at least not anymore.
      While indeed there are skill sets that arise from shared time as you are pointing out, the fact remains that this timer method is now being abandoned for WCS 2017. If the competitions such as Worlds intentionally emphasized this type of skillset then there would be no need for the change to My Time where Timer Stalling is now impossible because only you can lose if you try to do it.
      Skills such as maintaining momentum through time or strategically trying to win by time are part of an unintentional skill meta that resulted from bad game design which is now being corrected for Gen 7
