2 great old period homes going down mate........The grease pit is a great old functional feature and of a time when men were men and cars did not need a computer haha. Thanks for watching :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 There was a man a long time ago, 40's or 50's and He invented a way to have cars run not useing gas. Maybe he was ahead of his time and made the first electric car? Or maybe solar powered? Anyway shortly after putting in his patent he just 'dissapeared'. I think someone in the goverment had him killed so folks would stay dependent on gas ect. I have an idea for a solar powered car but don't dare right now go try to get a patent. Dah!
You've got me on this one. I know that Art Deco is usually associated with the architecture of the 1930's. But with the exception of the garage, this home does not have the geometric shapes and intense colour schemes associated with the period. From the street view, in my opinion, the garage with its flat roof and sleek design is in sharp contrast from the main house with its high pitched roof. This is where I see the Art Deco influence. The service pit in the garage was great feature for any guy who had to change the oil or check the under carriage of the car. (That would be me.) I have noticed one feature of the period houses (1920's-1940's) that is unique. The hard wood floors always look new. This house featured many expensive upgrades especially in the kitchen and bath that can't be that old. But as the song goes, "Another one bites the dust." Yes I think we need to consult Miss Fisher on some preservation issues. Wouldn't it be funny if she was subscribed to this channel. That's one of the many reasons I deleted my updated brothel comment. She might think me not a gentleman. Cheers and have a great weekend.
Miss Fisher would have some knowledge to share on this one for sure Michael. :-) The high pitched roofs are considered dutch gables with Art deco themes. Those dutch gables were popular along side the art deco period here in Adelaide. The interiors were probably art deco but replaced with upgrades as you said. The kitchen totally tranformed, bathroom still has some older charm although upgraded. Living room still has the old classic stuff! :-) The oil pits were a great idea and a sign of when men were men hahaha. Thanks for watching mate :-)
I watch these abandoned home videos and still don’t understand why these homes cannot be saved. The workmanship, and materials are so beautiful and nothing like them will be built again.

Love the red fireplace not many homes have a carpit may be some one who mended cars . When you look at both houses from the front they are really different in style . Thanks for risking yourself to take us around you had neighbourhood watch checking on you by the looks of it take care xx
Hi Rosa, yes I too like the outside design, the interiors have been updated a bit though. The car pit I have seen in a couple others but thats it. Love the stained glass, in the second house & kitchen ceramic in the first house. I'm so glad they take these beautiful items out for repurpose. 🙋♀️💜🇺🇸👍
Love the color kitchen floor tiles, wall trim which matches the greenish countertop. The kichen overall does look in good condition, minus the huge crack in the wall.
Love these old homes. The first home does have numerous cracks in walls, indicating foundation problems. Probably, water damage coming through the roof at some point. Kinda looked like home schooling might have been done(shelves). Its a shame these old homes will soon see their demise!!
Yes Sheila I really love them too! :-) I saw the development plan for these two lots and they are putting 6 ground units in there place. Bummer but that is the name of the progress game. Thanks for watching :-)
Absolutely LOVE this Art Deco house and property! Love the ceilings and the door handles ! Thanks Indigo for another great, and detailed video! You're the best!!
Such a Beautiful home, the Hardwood Floors were awesome, as well as the hardware on the doors....I love to see the designs of the ceiling medallions....the car was from Disney Cars movie Lightening McQueen 😁 one of my little guys favorite 😊
Hi Heather, the floors hopefully will be reused. :-) A few updates in this house over the years but it still hold some nice charm of the year it was built like the exterior. Lightning McQueen I will remember that haha Cheers! :-)
One all mighty crack in one wall, salvage work to start, saving the kitchen units, wooden curtain rail and nice net curtains. Polished floorboards to be re cycled.
I'm not a huge Art Deco fan but there are some great examples in those ceiling features. I do love the heritage terracotta floor tiles in the bathroom as well as the feature row of tiles on the walls. Once again a perfectly good house being torn down to make way for some poor quality building that will fall down in 30 years. That crack probably just needs pinning. The lack of rain has probably caused it.
Hey Hilltop Farm thanks for stopping bye! :-) The one huge crack seems to be the only one. The house in good shape still otherwise. ^ units are taking these homes place...........cheap units no doubt.....Bummer !
Oh gosh! Love those hardwood floors. Looks like they are in great shape. Shame it has to be demolished but the wall crack says it all. Enjoying from Kentucky, USA. Oh! Just saw the short view of the second house, gorgeous! What a shame!
The Outside still looks Deco and some of the door knobs but the rest is so up to date, not quite an adventure 😀. Still a nice house thanks for the explore!
Hello! It also could be a home office for the father and a study area for the kids. The built ins on the wall suggest shelving above a desk of some kind. Very old deco hardware on the bathroom door along with the pulls on the drawers and cupboards. Unfortunately they updated the kitchen from original. It should have had nice rounded ends cabinets and cupboards. With stainless steel trim on all the edges. The bathroom didn’t have a shower in it originally, that’s why it is cramped. You see medallions in newer home today but they are either plastic or foam glued on the ceiling and painted but the older ones were built using small thin pieces of wood or plaster put together like a puzzle to form the beautiful pieces of art. Nice inspection pit in the carport. Must have had an above ground pool. Another inspection pit along the house. The front of the house is Fabulous! My partner and companion was born in 1937.
Just read your updated msg Roger :-) I would agree about the bathroom being so cramped and the shower added. Shame the kitchen was not kept original but that is expected probably. Thanks for your knowledge and appreciation for these old classics! :-)
Loved the intro music. It looked like the house had some "updating" done in perhaps the sixties. They must've had an above ground pool at some point. (Just a guess based on the pool ladder in the shed.) The medallion was cool and I liked the hanging lamp too. I wonder if they will salvage any of the landscape. There were some beautiful flowers in front of the second house. Another great video, thanks for taking us along. Have a great weekend.
Hi Lynne :-) Yep a few interior updates for sure. Glad the living room was all original still though. :-) I think they will salvage some indeed but iv seen them not also! Thanks for watching :-)
I really enjoy growing your video explores , unlike others with all the unnecessary EXTRA added personality and music you are showing what we come to see featured ( the homes ) . I don’t even mind that there’s no information as to why they’ve fallen into abandonment other than redevelopment which is sad because the character and quality of these places won’t be replaced
Hi Hannah :-) Another local, good to see! :-) I didnt think about the bin thing lol. Some of the homes to stand out and are quite iconic. There are more to come also! Thanks for watching :-)
It's nice to know the stained glass was saved from destruction. Thank you for the update. PS just wear a hard hat, work vest and carry a clip board. You look official and if asked you can just say you are with the salvage company taking inventorey.
With a little work, this house could shine. The kitchen is more spacious than mine! I live in a farmhouse built in 1884. This area used to be full of fruit orchards.
Wow 1884!!! Thats awesome Christine, hold on to that home forever! :-) This place unfortunately wont make it another month before demo....thanks for watching :-)
There were matching door handles through out too Marybeth :-) My mother has the old original in her home too. :-) Yes you can have the splash back for sure too! haha, cheers for watching :-)
Another beautiful home. The race car is Lightning McQueen from the movie "cars". I think this place had great curb appeal. I love this tile roofs especially. Those wall cracks are a bad sign for sure. It's good to see you again. Hope you are doing well and be safe and take care! Anxiously awaiting the next explore. 🙂
Haha I learn something always from you guys thanks Lea :-) One huge wall crack but other than that still great old home! ^ new units going in instead!!!!! boring lol Thanks for watching and your support Lea :-)
I hope the planning council manage to keep a few of the better examples from the period, just so people can see that life could be almost as elegant then as now. Historic divisions are important to cultural evolution. Pre-tech and post tech culture. Thanks for showing it.
Hi Gary. Luckily Adelaide has a lot of old homes and a few suburbs are protected but for how long. Unfortunately the nice iconic more busier roads are being targeted so they will have ugly businesses and blocks of units instead of nice old character homes to look at. Cheers for watching :-)
I really like this little house. Someone could fix it up & it would be nice! No mold, no vandalism! Oops did I speak too soon on the vandalism? Someone messed up that wall.
I really liked the big kitchen in this house. Too bad about the structural issues with the giant cracks in other areas. Still sad to see these places torn down to make room for crappy housing units. Thanks.
Hi Randi, I saw the development plan for these two lots and they are replacing these old beauties with a complex of 6 double bedroom ground units. No more big yards or kitchens!!!!! Bummer. Thanks for watching :-)
The wood floors are absolutely beautiful. I wonder if the garage was an add on since the roof line doesn’t match the house. It was probably once a very lovely home. Thanks for sharing.
I like the home everything looked shiny and clean. Why are they abandoned? Is it because of asbestos? They look so nice to live it. Another great video thank you 😊💓
They got sold off to developers who splashed the cash around lol :-) The owners pack up and leave good homes that get bulldozed........progress lol Thanks for watching Cynthia :-)
Hi Paul! :-D I love the tiles in the kitchen. They look so much like the symbol of "The War Of The Roses" with the red rose and the white rose within. :-) I find it so interesting how the toilet in these old homes is separate from the actual bathroom. Such a nice floor in the child's room and the last character with the car is "Lightning McQueen" from the movie "Cars". :-) This was a neat explore! :-)
Loving the hardware. Just as well you are tall, we wouldn't have seen the contents on top shelf of pantry cupboard😂. Love the tiles on bathroom floor. Love the Ceiling Rose in main bedroom. You know the gutted out buildings, I think the one with the wood running down was one of those under vehicle check spaces, I forget what you called them🤔🤔🤔

Neighbors really do not take that much notice if you have a camera in your hand haha. The neighbours would know these homes are up for demo also. Thanks for watching :-)
I just loved the kid's room plus the door handles. Thanks for sharing another great video.
Yes this one I enjoyed filming too Michael, built with class back then, cheers for watching :-)
I agree Elizabeth, the kitchen was quite newer compared the homes age. The wall crack was very large lol. :-)
great video, I would saved these homes if I could.
You, me and most of the viewers too Al Bundy :-) Thanks for watching
Every time he points his finger i can't help but laugh.🤣
You will be laughing a lot then Brooklyn S 👉👉👈👈👈👉
I like these old art deco homes. Really nicely made. Shame it will be demolished. They don't make homes like that anymore.
They sure do not make them like this anymore Sally. ^ cheapo units are taking their place which is sad.......Thanks for watching :-)
Thank you for mentioning the car fixing dugout. There were two. I wondered what it was. You are reading my mine again. Cheers!
Hi Pam, thats ok I was trying to think of the right term for it haha. Thanks for watching :-)
The ceilings are beautiful! Great find. Thank you.
Hey Mim thanks for watching :-) Gorgeous ceilings! I have found some more incredible ceilings too!!! :-) Thanks for watching
I’ve now got my partner hooked on this Channel as well!
Haha awesome!!!! Thanks for both of your support! :-)
I love this house. Would live there in a minute for sure. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them.
It was a beauty hey Debbie, thanks for watching :-)
Absolutely LOVE this Art Deco house and property! Love the ceilings and the door handles ! Thanks Indigo for another great, and detailed video! You're the best!!
Your support means a lot Fatiha, really glad you are enjoying these old homes! Have more to come also! Cheers ! :-)
I just love these old homes
I`m glad you do Robia, I like finding them and showing them before they are gone. :-)
Another beauty. Thanks, Paul. Always like to see your videos with explanatory comments. Be safe and urbex on!
Thanks for youe support Sandra! :-) Stay tuned for some more! :-)
Love your video's. Stay safe.
Thanks for the support Letit Bemee! :-) Glad you are enjoying them! :-)
the car decal in the kids room was lightning McQueen out of the movie cars lol thank you for sharing
See I keep learning new things from you guys Kim! Thanks heaps! And for watching :-)
One all mighty crack in one wall, salvage work to start, saving the kitchen units, wooden curtain rail and nice net curtains. Polished floorboards to be re cycled.
Great summary William, thanks for watching :-)
Definite foundation issues Lynda and indeed a shame to lose many like this , glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching :-)
The Outside still looks Deco and some of the door knobs but the rest is so up to date, not quite an adventure 😀. Still a nice house thanks for the explore!
Hi Vonda, thanks for watching. Yes the outside is considered Art deco with high Dutch gables. :-)
Beautiful art decor house ,beautiful architecture.
Glad you appreciate all those things too Ivy, thanks for watching :-)
Love that 1st house. Would have had no problem moving right in! Hello again from Maine, USA again, Paul. Good job as always!
Very nice indeed Patricia, hard to see these good home getting knocked down. I want one too! haha. Thanks for watching :-)
I really like the one with the fireplace and recliner.
Good call Roger, that room definitely had a study or office feel. Thanks for watching :-)
Thats what I really love about my subscribers and viewers Bruce is that they love the homes and all the details. :-) Cheers for the support :-)
Nice place I like the tiles in the kitchen, the car that is painted on the kids wall is lightening McQueen from the movie cars.
Hey Aussie Kelpie, I knew I had that car wrong lol. :-)
Love the art deco era.
Me too Vanda Human! :-) Thanks for watching :-)
Always looking for bins in your videos so I can estimate where in Adelaide these are! It’s funny seeing such familiar homes like this
Hi Hannah :-) Another local, good to see! :-) I didnt think about the bin thing lol. Some of the homes to stand out and are quite iconic. There are more to come also! Thanks for watching :-)
Nice big kitchen. A lot of potential.
It's nice to know the stained glass was saved from destruction. Thank you for the update.
PS just wear a hard hat, work vest and carry a clip board. You look official and if asked you can just say you are with the salvage company taking inventorey.
What a nice house, I like these old homes, as I've said before.
I hope this one gets reused, at least.
Thanks for the tour.
A very nice home, less cracks in the walls than one of the others, can be caused by ground water getting too low very sad. Great video again thnx.
Spot on Rolf, Adelaide is renown for the ground soil water problem. Thanks for stopping bye :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 I doubt that I will ever move. The neighborhood is good and the people are quiet.
That door handle was awesome and I may steal the back splash idea for my kitchen as it was really pretty. Stay safe and have fun.
Even with the wall cracks I would love to live there. I would never live or buy a new build. They suck. See ya soon my friend.
I also like the ceiling lights, niiiice
I hope the planning council manage to keep a few of the better examples from the period, just so people can see that life could be almost as elegant then as now. Historic divisions are important to cultural evolution. Pre-tech and post tech culture. Thanks for showing it.
Hi Gary. Luckily Adelaide has a lot of old homes and a few suburbs are protected but for how long. Unfortunately the nice iconic more busier roads are being targeted so they will have ugly businesses and blocks of units instead of nice old character homes to look at. Cheers for watching :-)
Bel video.... bravo!! Con musica intro troppo bella dell epoca👍
Hi Lucilla, Im glad you enjoyed the video again! Thanks for your support :-)
I really like this little house. Someone could fix it up & it would be nice! No mold, no vandalism! Oops did I speak too soon on the vandalism? Someone messed up that wall.
oo late for this one tammy unfortunately it has been demolished.....bummer
Two houses, salvage work in progress, light fittings/chandalear to be saved, go to a local charity?
It would be nice to think it all goes to a charity William but im not sure it would........reused somwhere.......lol
It would be nice to think it all goes to a charity William but im not sure it would........reused somwhere.......lol
wow beautiful old homes
Hi Diana :-) Thanks for watching, yes very sad to know they will be erased form existence......
I agree the garage was added late Miya :-)
Great old house.. love it
One huge wall crack but other than that still in great shape Gladys. Thanks for watching :-)
Not demo! I love the look of classic old houses from the villas to the tudor style bungalows Adelaide is full of mysteries.
I like this house, it's cute. Thanks.
Glad you like this one Maria, unfortunately it has now been demolished too. Cheers for watching :-)
Straight onto tonight, cheers mate
Haha wow that was quick mate! Cheers :-)
The yards in these properties are so deep.
Loving the hardware. Just as well you are tall, we wouldn't have seen the contents on top shelf of pantry cupboard😂. Love the tiles on bathroom floor.
Love the Ceiling Rose in main bedroom.
You know the gutted out buildings, I think the one with the wood running down was one of those under vehicle check spaces, I forget what you called them🤔🤔🤔
So many of these homes are just beautiful. I always wonder if this is a typical home or if these were more expensive neighborhoods.
The funny thing is Mari this was considered your average home back in the 30`s, everything was built with style and intent to impress. Bring back those times I say haha cheers for watching :-)
WHAT'S UP URBEX INDIGO 🙋 TODAY THE DAY 👉 AND AS ALWAYS ANOTHER AWESOME EXPLORE and very patient but it pays off cause WOW could definitely tell was an old style home you can feel it though your video 👍 it looked like it was use for a boarding home maybe I like homes that have 2 or more bathrooms makes them look RICH lol and very rare here to find a home with the mechanics pit but it's an AWESOME idea 😊 and yes i do remember the second home that you quickly went through WOW again AWESOME JOB HI ✋ URBEX INDIGO that was cool from yes me again NEW ZEALAND 😉
Thanks for watching Christine! :-) There were 2 of the car pits , one near the back too! Yes these 2 homes next to each other being replaced with 6 cheap units is a disgrace. lol Thanks for watching :-)
amazing beautiful home. Wish it was mine.
i love the last house thats old
Caught the upload early tonight :) Thank you have a good one.
Thanks for stopping bye Leeanne! :-)
Thanks for showing the fans sad that it will get the excavator
No worries mate, I though I better get a decent look at it for ya! Thanks for watching :-)
Thanks again my friend

Beautiful.
Hi Detroitman, thanks for watching , glad you enjoyed :-)
Thank you for another tour! Oh those car things are called pits in US. You’re going into winter over there aren’t you?
Hi Nancy :-) Yes a grease pit others have mentioned too. Yep we are now in winter, colder and green grass everywhere! Cheers for watching :-)
