Back in the 1980s I was in a band on the bill with Tammy Wynette. She was friendly and gracious.
It was an outdoor event with a small stage and an even smaller backstage. I recall standing in the doorway between the two as she sang “Stand By Your Man” no more than four feet away from me. I got chills then - and sometimes do now just thinking about it.

I lived in Lakeland Florida when I was a little girl back the 70's. My family and I didn't live there long, but my dad's brother lived there for many years. I'm going to share this with some of my family members. They love her too. They'll love this !! 🥰👍

My parents took me to see Tammy Wynette, George Jones also Buck Owens & The Buckaroos on the same show when I was 8 years old, Tammy is my all time favorite female singer.

Hi Jordan, I love how they incorporated all the town's history at the start of the Museum. Great to see some of her outfits and awards. Wow, that was an impressive wall of album covers. Tammy was always one of my favorites, that museum was nice. I love George too. Got some thier duets cds. Patsy Cline was like my top female singer. I also loved Dottie west. There Dolly, Loretta, I guess I love the strong country females. I've raned into Dolly, she was really nice, got a picture of just her in my phone. I have say it's Patsy Cline, then Tammy, Dottie was like a fire cracker, but what they all have in common, not only were they Beautiful, but I love thier voices. I won't leave out Reba. Thank you, Jordan, for covering this museum in Red Bay, especially the area dedicated to the late, great Tammy Wynette, the First Lady of Country Music. I think she deserved more than a museum that's only open a few hours a week, but it's better than nothing. More importantly, I like that it features clothing and costumes she'd worn, but had given to her daughters or friends who were good enough to donate it to the museum. And the fact ir doesn't feature anything about George Richey, her last husband, is even better.
I was lucky enough to see her in concert a number of times and to interview her in 1994. I still listen to her albums and CDs often as well as watch a couple biographies she was featured in. As one singer so aptly stated following her untimely death at just 55, 'The world will never again be innocent enough to produce another Tammy Wynette.'
I was such a fan of Tammy growing up, she had such an incredible voice and amazing talent . She deserved so much more , but lived a life most of us would dream of . She's an inspiration to her art of music 🎶 may others follow in her foot step and make those dreams come true.
I wouldn't want to live the way Tammy did. She was married so many times with her young daughters having so many men brought into their lives, something she regreated. She ended up with a greedy man who cheated on her and she suspiciously died at his hands. If she had of helped to understand George jones and helped him the right way she would have had a beautiful life with her girls and George jones. She chose the easy way out. Not like Loretta Lynn who fought for their marriage. Tammy liked the posh life and dinners where has George Jones like to be himself and down to earth, Tammy was always embarrassed of George jones.
Well in my opinion she gave up on George jones but he loved her until the day he died, where has Tammy realised at the end she was worser off with richy.
Tammy wynette was and is in my opinion a beautiful women and country singer she was not the loudest I would say Connie Smith, patsy cline, Loretta Lynn, Jean shepherd etc where the loudest. Tammy was beautiful and George jones was king of real country music.
Together they where and are the best duet couple to have ever lived.

Cool little museum Jordan! I've been aware of Tammy most of my life. I never knew much about her. How beautiful she really was. The picture with her, Loretta and Dolly. Three heavy weights, that paved the way for Reba, Faith, etc... Funny every time I hear Stand By Your Man, reminds me of the WWF running a music tribute to Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, back in the day! Or if you like: The Blues Brothers singing it at Bob's Ole Country Bunker.
I am thankful that my Mom got me to like not only old Hollywood actors but county singers like Tammy Wynette. Tammy was a great singer and writer. Loved seeing her museum.

Great vlog. I’m only familiar with a couple of her country songs. She was featured in a couple of pop songs during my teenage years and that’s how I first heard of her. I remember crying a little while watching Dolly Parton and a couple of other country female singers sing Stand By Your Man, at an awards ceremony, shortly after Tammy Wynette’s death.

Man, I want to visit this museum now. I've grown to appreciate Tammy over the years. She had an amazing voice. It's weird seeing artifacts of people who were rich and famous when I was a kid are now in a museum. She was a great yet humble woman.

I saw Tammy at the "Ozarks Amphitheater" at Lake of the Ozarks MO. not long before she passed. She was so pretty in person, no picture could do her justice. She was one of my favorite singers.

That place was packed full of memorabilia! It would take me the whole time that they were open to completely absorb everything they had. Red Bay is 47 minutes away. Maybe I will do FAME and here on the same day.

Just finished it. I had to restart the video during the premier, but I loved it! Was never a "country bunkin" growing up, but my family was. I remember that story of George Jones and the lawnmower incident. 🤣 I was just a kid, and thought it was hilarious. Heard about lots of little goodies about this celebrity or that one getting into trouble and getting arrested 😜. It's always interesting to hear about how people got their starts in their careers.

The night Tammy died, I was still living in Pittsburgh. The news made it sound like she died at the hospital not far from my apartment. Turns out she had gone there a few times in the last year or so, not quite sure exactly but she played there a few times before she got sick, but her doctor worked at that hospital and was the one they interviewed about her death. I can't remember what song was played at the bar that night but I know we played "He Stopped Loving Her Today" Thanks for the Flashback! Those dresses tho!!
Tremont, MS is her birth place just a few miles from Red Bay, AL. Tremont had built a museum a few years back, but don’t think it ever opened. I know it has a cafe’ in it now.

@Tuddley, yes, it was off her 1994 CD 'Without Walls' that also featured duets with Elton John, Sting, Aaron Neville, Smokey Robinson, Wynonna, and others.
The Showtime series from earlier of this year (2023) "George & Tammy" was really good. It was sad tho how she ended up with her last husband George Richey who wasn't a great guy and was rumored to be the one responsible for all that harrassment she got after she left Jones. He also made sure her daughters didn't get any of her estate after she passed.

The biggest thing about Red Bay, where theres no bay, is Tiffin Motor Homes Mfg.
I guess you saw that, huh? The Tammy Wynette Legacy center in Tremont, MS., is a huge building built in her honor, has a few items, but the guy running it stole the money, so now, the tiny town runs an office in back. It had a restaurant too, which had great food, but it shut down
too. But nobody knew it was there. The people in the very nice Rest Area acted like they didnt want to tell people it was there. Ive been to the RB Museum. If you havent seen Mike Judges Tales of the Tour Bus about George and Tammy, you need to watch it! The RB Museum is featured in it! Its hilarious!!

Peanut Montgomery, who wrote alot of songs for George, played in the band, has a little museum in Tuscumbia, Al., near Muscle Shoals, and not too far from Red Bay.

Excellent vlog!! I dont know much about Tammy except[ the song Stand by Your Man. Its so crazy that Hillary Clinton had problems with the song when sge stood by her lying and cheating man. I am glad Tammy got out of that abusive relationship with George Jones.
