      Jay Ocq I didnt mean any disrespect my dude, sorry if i offended you i was legit trying to hype up one of my fav Rappers songs. I have seen the statistics, and as a white person i do feel attacked that we deal with more whites getting killed than blacks a year, im not sleeping on anyone or anything. But America has decided to handle the situation with the Blacks right now and i am in full support of helping another nation of human beings, im not looking for a fight, if God tells me its now or never im gonna take his hand and walk to the front lines. so itd be very appreciated if you stop trying to pick fights where there are non to be held, go find a public forum for that.

    1st verse: America from an African American's perspective
    2nd verse: America from a veteran's perspective
    3rd verse: America from an immigrant's perspective
    ...Lecrae is a musical genius.

      The first verse was more directed to the addicts, and struggles that people face in America, not just African Americans but any one else who struggles with something. He cover everything from sex slavery to drug addicts and everything in between. I agree though, Lecrae is one of the best out there.

    I think what Lecrae is trying to say is that America needs prayer for all those problems. I think he is trying to tell Christians that we should go & spread the love of God to all these people that have problems. These people need God's love. Thank You Lecrae for this music video.

    • @paulsheldon1959
      @paulsheldon1959 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lecrae didn't even imply or allude to spreading Gods love. That's unfortunate. My first impression was actually just a hate song on America. Then I pondered it and realized that many OT prophets spoke of the true state their nation was in without a coat of sugar. However, I still feel strongly that lecrae could have spoken of God with an evangelistic theme at least once. America, after all, was once a much greater nation In regards to beliving in the Holy Bible and living it out and EVANGELIZING. Love to brother lecrae. Pray for him.

    • @tredariusdavidson986

      Paul Sheldon he does not need to speak about god every time to get his point across. He just likes to speak the truth. This why he does not want to be labeled a Christian rapper because people always think he need to speak about god. He is a rapper who believes in god who will speak the truth. This song to help people open their eyes about America and what actually happens.

      rochelle sannipoli idk how he is deceiving people. Thats the problem with christians because all they think is someone can't speak about anything else. The religon is to be a foller of jesus christ. Spread the word and worship him. Always speak the truth and as far as I know he does that. He done nothing for someone to say he changed.

      People like to be comfortable. Ideas and facts that conflict with our own create discomfort because we have to rethink things. People would rather just keep away from it all and stay comfortable but ignorant.. We wouldn't know that the earth revolves around the sun (and not vice versa) if one guy didnt challenge the world. What happened then? The church (a strong political power back then) tried to shut him up by kicking him out because they were uncomfortable.The blind leading the blind...

    After being in Afghanistan and seeing how things unfolded, the second verse hits differently now versus when I first listened to it in high school. The part that really hit home was when he says “ain’t nobody give a jack in America.” When I left, it seemed like people could have cared less if I lived or died when the learned of the deployment, including the church I was a part of. Then when I came home, I tried to hold back tears when I saw all those people waiting for their loved ones to welcome them back with enthusiasm, but nobody was there and in fact my ride was about 40 minutes late. I’ve suppressed those memories, but listening to this song brings back those memories. 22 vets take their life daily, nobody seems to care about that. And now seeing how we’ve just moved on from Afghanistan as if it never happened makes me so angry at times. I’ve forgiven, but will never forget. It’s why whenever I hear,” thank you for your service,” it is vanity to me because the actions spoke louder than words. But what’s the point of talking. A lot of y’all don’t really care America. That’s what the actions show.

      First of all I hope that you feel sorry for the Afghans that you've participated in killing... you did service to the devil by doing so! 9/11 was an inside job! I hope you feel sorry for yourself for thinking that going into war was a good life option over most, when you are an ignorant who've been bamboozled. I understand that many end lonely and broke... then commit suicide. But I think they do so because they feel humiliated for going to war for a bunch of ungrateful sons of bitches and all the special treatment for the heros was a lure. War has lost its nobility centuries ago, it has become an industry and a lucrative business, and you are no better than a service material to them, that's why you are often nicknamed as GI (Government Issue) feel yourself lucky for being in America where you can have the bare minimum and imagine if you were one of those on the other side, where there is close to none medical care, nonexistent psychological support, scarcity and desolation all around, imagine yourself one of those you was trying to kill on sight because you've an order issued from the highest instance in your fucking country, an order to commit injustice, an order to take someone life just because you've been brainwashed to associate with terrorism).

I grew up poor my whole family and all my neighborhood was poor. And every single person who lived in my neighborhood was white and 90% of the kids in my grade was poor. And yes every single one of em was white. Rual America never sees a politian. Not even in election season. Hilary came to one such community and was basically ran out of the town! Cause this woman had the nerve to show up after promising alot miners are going to be out of a job! And now that community is broke! People eating out of dumpsters and living out of their car. Demoncrats hate rural white America. They want everyone poor and dumb! Maga 2020

    The amount of people who have misunderstood this video is astounding to me. I can only conclude that the majority of the viewers aren't Christian. If you think this country was great you have been greatly deceived. No country on earth has been great or will ever be great by the standards of Scripture. A nation that doesn't fear the Lord serves satan. You sit here and blame politicians, your neighbors, the unsaved, while the Bible says, "There is none who does good in the sight of God." "The heart is deceitful and wicked above all things!" The world is in the state that it's in because of SIN, period! And the solution is Jesus Christ. Whether you follow Him or not you will one day bow at His feet and confess Him Lord of lords and King of kings.
    This message is for my fellow genuine Christians. This world isn't our kingdom as the Bible states. Our job is NOT to preserve this country or any country for that matter, for the earth and all that lives in it will be destroyed by fire! Our missions is to share the Gospel to as many souls as possible. Because anyone that doesn't repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will perish in hell for eternity! Muslims, Jews, atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Shintos, Mormons, Jehovah's witness, most Catholics, Orthodox, Hindus, animists, spiritualists, etc. EVERYBODY that doesn't believe in the Biblical Jesus Christ WILL perish. That's is the commandment we have been given by Christ. "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” ~ Acts 4:12

      Numbers 35:33“You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.”
      Psalm 24:1 “A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”
      God gave mankind dominion over the earth but not in order to use or misuse it at any cost for any reason. We have destroyed many areas of the planet to suit our own needs and this earth must groan under the weight of the ravaging and pillaging of the planet. I hope I make clear what I am trying to say, of course we need to share the gospel. But taking care of the God's creation is also important :) I think preserving the earth is very important because otherwise you would be neglecting God's creation (he made the earth for us) and therefore neglect God.

I think a few people don't realize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of our sins. For man to be selfless, love people as Jesus loved us not to be selfish. Because this is not the type of country our early American soldiers fought for heck they weren't even. The were farmers, traders who wanted to fight for a country where the could be free in. Long story short ALOT of people need Jesus. and I'm just a 12 year old kid.

      @error code 3435465554 There’s nothing wrong with smoking weed as long as you don’t use it to replace god. So if you use it to fill a void instead of praying, that would be a sin because you’re using it in place of god. But marijuana is a creation of god. So it must serve a purpose. Maybe not to smoke, but he put it here for some reason or another, and I don’t think he did it for temptation

    • @jamesdoakes4956
      @jamesdoakes4956 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @error code 3435465554 I don’t remember anywhere in the Bible where it says not to drink. In fact the majority of Christian leaders drank. It’s ok to use any drug that doesn’t damage the body (self mutilation is a sin) as long as you’re not idolizing it or using it as an escape. I personally just like to smoke. I don’t smoke to control anxiety or escape it because I’m stressed. I just enjoy the enhanced senses. Also I’m pretty sure Moses was on shrooms when he saw the burning Bush that talked to him. But either way drugs like lsd make me wonder if god wanted us to see another dimension of life. Why would he make us able to hallucinate? And by the way what is hallucinations? Science tells us it’s an illusion, but it’s only an illusion to another’s perspective. To the person hallucinating, it’s really before their eyes. These are the things I think about from a spiritual perspective. I feel like the deeper into science I go the more I believe there’s some kind of higher power out there

    Related to this song when I first heard it 4 years ago. Just watched the video for the first time, and it hits in so many ways:
    1. Proud Christian
    2. Born in a foreign land (Liberia)
    3. Both parents work two jobs, constantly passing taxes
    4. Currently serving 15th year in the military Marine Corps
    5. Went to War twice (3 deployments total)
    6. Veteran siblings who struggle to find quality jobs, dealing with PTSD.
    7. Siblings in foreign countries wishing they could come live here in America and get opportunities to build a better life.
    8. Fellow Veterans getting deported even after serving in the military.
    América, we've got to do better than this.

    • @takeusernname
      @takeusernname 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's something that I think about a lot; the United States is a country that seems to pride itself on being proud of its veterans and service members, but yet we still have so many who come here, serve, and get deported after their enlistment is up, and so many more who serve and end up below the poverty line or homeless. People love to show their support and stand for the flag, but nobody seems to care about veterans beyond that. It breaks my heart seeing a homeless Army or Marine vet on the side of the road because you have no idea what he went through, only to get out and have the country he gave up his own freedoms for turn its back on him.

      Yup. Both are meaningful, but I still feel Lecrae hit everything much more effectively. I wish Lecrae's got the publicity and exposure because there's so much truth, straight to the point, creatively and much more emotionally engaging.

    • @supreme782
      @supreme782 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      TyrantT316 Tbh i would say Lecraes lyrics were much more clear to the songs meaning however childish gambino had a "better video" because of the concept of paying attention to what the media is trending infront of u rather than looking in the background. Both were still great and shared different interpretations of the same concept.

    • @TyrantT316
      @TyrantT316 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I'd agree with that. Gambino's video and visual direction were more on the creative concept side while Lecrae's is more documentary. Honestly, for me that makes them both great. I am a visual artist (photographer, video, graphic, etc..) so I may evaluate things in the name of art, not criticism over the artist or message. I think they were both thought provoking, bold and creative. Lecrae;s being my preference doesn't diminish Gambino's however. I think this is a role (not the ONLY role, but a role) that music and celebrity can serve.

      I agree with most of the opinions expressed here; Gambino’s is more visceral and indignant, with a more elaborate focus on exposition, and American’s way of dealing with things. Lecrae’s video by contrast is a less visually and lyrically poignant piece with less of a pointed focus on race and awareness, and more of a focus on the injustice and contempt of the indifference and apathy of the general public. Both make me think of what we are building for our own children to inherit.

    This song is total truth no matter who denies it and no matter how many times they deny it. America needs help through prayer, question is, who's gonna start it. Will it be you?

    I am not sure who dislikes this. This song touched my heart. All true statements. Look at our Veteran's, many people could care less about them. Look at what you are watching this on.... most likely an iPhone. I could agree with everything in this song, but I won't. So, GOD bless you, GOD bless America! This song is great!

Really makes you evaluate yourself as an individual and it makes you wanna be better and do better. I love music like this. We need more of it! Especially for this generation...

    #Lecrae I am blown away by to your talent and ability to paint a picture with your lyrics. I introduced you to my son a few years ago and now, at 13 he has a real love for Christian rap. Instead of listening to all that music about killing, sex and drugs, he chooses to listen to righteous music. It all started with one of your songs. I thank God for you my brother 🙏

    "Welcome to America" by Lecrae opens the movie "Black and Blue" starring Naomie Harris and Tyrese Gibson. Powerful song where Lecrae preaches through the eyes of multiple people including a soldier like Naomie's character was before she became a New Orleans police officer striving to do good against the odds of so much evil. "God Bless America"!

    Powerful video! The second verse hits home. I'm a WWII Navy Vet granddaughter/great niece, Vietnam Era Army Vet daughter, Desert Storm Navy Vet niece, and now a Marine Vet wife. I love my vets! I've lost friends who were military. I am proud of our men and women, but life is hard for them. There is price for honor and freedom!

    Hearing this now, I can feel the guys pain. He put his life on the line, whether domestic or overseas. And when he got back, he saw how people are. And it's a cold hard truth. The reality is, it is everyone man for himself, and to the few of us that care, it is barely seen. Lyrically, powerful. I can only imagine what he felt when making the song.
