Man, I hate to see these modded. They run flawlessly. On the other hand, I've never personally seen destination dispatch with double-deckers before so I suppose that's kinda interesting. (But I still wish they'd just leave them alone.)
Basically, there is one car above the other that share a shaft, and they move at the same time. There are different landings for each car and then both cars can move more people at once so they can be the most efficent!
@@Skivator but, for example, what if you were on the bottom car and you wanted to go to the top floor? Wouldn't the highest floor for the bottom car be 1 less? And same for lowest floor while on the top car?
ExcelElevations 4U There are some systems where there is extra room in the shaft. For example: if the bottom floor is 1, and the top car wants to go to 1, the bottom car would go under the 1st floor
No I mean stupid WEIRD. One thing. Stupid can mean something can be something to a great or less extent. For instance, working indicators on Economy Lexans are "stupid rare"
I've never been on a double deck elevator. Must be epic.
These are cool!
Epic elevator ever
It’s modernized now
Go there all the time cool
Wow that sure is some fast Otis traction elevator
Yeah and double deck which make it rare!
@@stlelevators Oh cool
I love the sound of the motor and generator.
Me too
Oh wow, Never seen Elevonic 401 that are double deck. These things are amazing.
Yeah these are so cool!

Oh well, it is what it is..
It’s a class A private property and one of the class A requirements are elevator modernizations
hope they keep the Elevonic 401 controllers & just integrate them into the new system
I doubt it. Those controllers are proprietary I believe.
Or the fixtures
That'd be pretty much impossible with destination dispatch.
@@tkefan29 That's not exactly true. I've seen Elevonic 401 controllers be run off a TK Destination Dispatch system at TK Canada Trust Tower in Toronto
Those are cool!
Yeah they are!
Otis should make more double decker elevators. how do you transfer between elevator decks?
I'm not sure if there's a floor in the middle where you can (I didn't really explore the system that well), but for sure in the lobby.
They have that large black area for other indicators and yet the "SERVING OTHER FLOOR" indicator is separately installed.
I guess the other people is like where are we going?
Yeah this could confuse some people.
STL Elevators :P
These were still in relatively good shape! Sad to see these are getting modded. By Fujitec, right?
Yep
At least Fujitec is good. That's an extremely rare COP because of the serving other deck lights.
Is the original Otis elevonic 401
This is the original one
how fast are these? and how many rises/banks of elevators were in this building?
I really don’t know.
Those are most likely running around 1000-1400 FPM
“SERVING OTHER DECK”
Yep
@@stlelevators This means that the elevator stops to another elevator which is the first elevator, don't worry as it's not stuck.
A deck is when there are two elevators that connected to each-other, like a double decker elevator.
Someone should collect the fixtures
Did anyone get parts from these? I would hate to see these COPs just get binned.
I think they’re gone.
@@stlelevators that sucks.
these elevators must be crazy fast
They are!
Yeah
What does the double deck part mean
Ok
Yep. Two cars in one. When one car is on an even floor, the other is on an odd floor.
That is very interesting
These no longer serve the 70th floor!
Interesting
I'm still confused on how double deck elevators work.

ExcelElevations 4U That’s correct

It's an interesting concept for sure. This was the first one I really got to experience.
Looks like Fuji is modding these to Viridian
Yep
And another Elevonic 401 bites the dust :(
Yeah :(
And double decker which is already rare
Hey my friend wants to be a part of the dieselducy discord server if you could send a link that would be great thx.
STL Elevators ok thx so much
And on this weeks edition of "stupid weird and SHINY"...
I wouldn't say stupid and weird xD
No I mean stupid WEIRD. One thing. Stupid can mean something can be something to a great or less extent. For instance, working indicators on Economy Lexans are "stupid rare"
Dallas Fort Worth airport is nice this place is nice but Atlanta is better
Nice! It really sucks that these are getting modded.
Yeah :(
