Switzerland is heaven on earth
Just did a tour through a bunch of European countries and I would say Switzerland is one of the best bike touring countries I've been.
Oh nice! Yeah it definitely blew us away ♥️
Never cycled in Switzerland, but Swiss Alps are my favorite hiking destination. Spectacular views.
I bet! I would love to return with more time and do some hikes :)
Lovely video, and unbelievably beautiful scenery - thanks!
Another great video 🎉 and Switzerland looks BEAUTIFUL 😍 can’t wait for the next one!!
Aww thank you so much!!
Spectacular views, great video.
Nice riding there. Very relaxing nature.
-Wow loved this! warm showers is great too!!
It really looks amazing, incredible views all around. Have fun and stay safe. 👍😊
Thanks very much! I wish you wonderful adventures as well!
Those bunkers were used for parking warplanes. They are no longer used for this purpose. You did national route 9, didn't you? I live in Switzerland, and I appreciate the beauty of my homeland. However, next week I will start an eBike tour through the French alps. It starts in Thonon les Bains at lake Geneva and follows the Petite Route du Soleil via Annecy, Grenoble and further on to Nice, all along the western edge of the French alps. From Nice I will follow the coast to Menton and from there move back into the alps. This route is called Grande Route des Alpes and crosses several high passes, some of which are also crossed at the Tour de France. The route passes by at Chamonix/Mont Blanc and ends at the same start at Lake Geneva. It is alltogether about 1'600 kilometres.
Thank you for solving the bunker mystery! That sounds like an incredible route - I hope you have a wonderful time!
@@SheelaghDaly It was beautiful, thanks. However, I took the train home from Nice, because I learned that there is disturbing traffic along the Grande Routes des Alpes.
Nice tradition cycle touring setups
i plan on following this in august. thank you!
Amazing!! Hope you have a wonderful time ♥️
That would be so awesome 😎
Yeah beautiful video! I'm moving to Switzerland in October and I'm really looking forward to it!
Oh wow!!! That will be so awesome!
@@SheelaghDaly Definetely! Compared to Germany Switzerland has a couple advantages! Besides the stunning landscapes and the extraordinary bike infrarstructure you have reliable country-wide public transportation, the standard for flats and apartments is way better and you pay only about half the amount of taxes! 😁😁 I have kind of a feeling that this will become the best decision of my life!
Very nice
THE VIEW IS GOOD ON THE BIKE ROAD, GREETINGS FROM INDONESIA
Those are bunkers. There are interesting videos about them on TH-cam, worth to watch
Switzerland is a very bike-friendly country!
I like,good vidio👍🤝🙏
I've never visited Europe (yet) except in the airport, I live in Minnesota, but I bicycled from Canmore to Banff in Canada on this nice paved Legacy Trail that goes through the mountains and it was beautiful, highly recommend bicycling through the mountains if you can.
Oooh I can imagine Canmore to Banff being beautiful! Thanks for sharing that!
What a beautiful place to be born. I live in a city in a worst country in Asia has a minimal places to nature hike. I admire your freedom
Where you live bro?

watching from Oman nice bike adventure.... you inspired me to go biking adventure too...
I’m so glad 😊 wishing you many wonderful adventures!
Kindly support my channel too coz I have a bike adventure here in Oman... thanks
I have friends in Switzerland. Last time I was there the people really impressed me with their kindness and helpfulness. Unfortunately I have never cycled there. If one wants, it is easy to mix cycling and train riding in Switzerland and likewise in a lot of Europe. I got delayed on tour when my trike was stolen in Hamburg, so I custom ordered a new trike built to my exact specs to make some good out of the bad. Further it wasn't to bad as I went to Luxembourg and borrowed a friend's trike (I originally met him in New Zealand) and cycle all over the country while his brother put me up for nearly a week. My time there, besides cycling, included shopping as I had lost everything, a bit of kayaking and a medieval fair. Thus to put me back on my schedule, I used a train to make up for about 5-6 days by taking a train from Bremen to Koblenz (the bike train-car was booked when I left Hamburg as there was a big race going on in Hamburg at that time). When I made it to Wasserbillig, as it was my 65 birthday, I took my friend and his parents (the bother was otherwise occupied) out for a posh dinner. Some of my friends in Switzerland found my tour blog and asked me to come down and stay with them but I felt it was just to far south as Luxembourg was about as far south as I was heading now up to Scotland to see some old friends and make some new ones. As I get older I look upon cheating by using trains an busses, as a good thing. Your post makes me go back to Switzerland and do some cycling..
I totally agree - the first time I took a train on a tour it felt like "cheating", but then I realized they can be a great asset! Switzerland really is so lovely, I hope you get a chance to return!
Hej. Awesome adventure guys. Will be going to Switzerland in the summer. First time with a bike and tent. Did you guys pitch the tent wherever it was convenient?
Thanks for watching! We did a mix of Warmshowers, stealth camping and campsites. We planned to do more stealth camping but it happened to be quite rainy when we were there so we used campsites to give us a chance to set up fast and dry things off better. Campsites in Switzerland are quite expensive though.
I think those mounds are Silos for defenses.
The bunkers are indeed military aircraft hangars, they belong to the army airbase of Meiringen. I am astonished that you did ‘experience’ a start of the F/A-18 which are stationed there, they fill the whole valley with unbearable noise. The hangars you see are not used for aircraft anymore. Now the aircrafts are stored in hangars in the mountains. You also see them crossing public roads from the hangars inside the mountains (th-cam.com/video/L5w7qAmW_LE/w-d-xo.html).
I am just going to embark on a bike ride here in the Emmetal (or Swissnyland as like to call it)… Cheers and thanks for the great video.
Great video! How much was your budget per day on your trip???
Well done video, looking forward to more! Planning to do a similar route next year. Do you have a map of your route?
Thanks so much! This was the number 9 Lakes Route which you can find on the Switzerland Mobility app/website :)
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Very nice and realistic video! We've been to Interlaken and villages above about 25 years ago and it was spectacular. We would love to bike tour. Do you have a recommendation for a loop route that stays in Switzerland and goes through Interlaken? Thank you
Check out the Switzerland mobility app/website! They have so many great routes with lots of details and photos. Super helpful!
Kind-of strange to turn on a You Tube clip only to see places just round the corner from where you live))
Hope you enjoy the trip!
How cool!! It is so beautiful there :)
I think concrete buildings are there because the Swiss like their flying cars to avoid all the twisty, turny roads and climbs but they could also be nuclear bunkers since lots of Swiss houses have them as a throw back from the Cold War and Switzerland's pacifism.
Just rode through Switzerland as well! Love the way you put this together!♥️♥️♥️ What do you usually film with???
Thank you so much! I hope you also had a beautiful time ❤
Sorry I missed your question about what I film with! It's a mix haha I have a Sony ZV1 I use for a good chunk of it (especially when I'm talking), my iphone, Michael's phone and in the past I've used an old GoPro but Michael just got an Insta 360 we tested out for the first time on this trip :)
Good stuff! this Swiss Mobility App...is it what it sounds like? route finder, guide? TIA!
Yeah it's awesome! Definitely check it out. It has routes broken down into stages, descriptions, photos... super helpful. The only thing I don't believe they have is GPX files. But we found a route someone had put together in Komoot basically recreating the Swiss Mobility app so that was nice to have as a back up. Happy riding!
Hi, you inspired me and Im going to cycle route 9!
How did you get from Zurich to Luzern?
Fun!!! We took almost entirely bike paths that whole stretch. I can’t remember exactly which ones but check out the Switzerland mobility app, (that’s what we did to put together our route) it’s super helpful!
🚴♂️
Hello namaste love from Maharashtra india❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Hello! Thanks for saying hi :) Happy adventuring!
Are there a lot of places to camp along this route?
Yes we found plenty of campsites along the way! They were quite expensive though so we used them a couple times but also stealth camped and used warmshowers :)
Interested to know your bike brand and model
I use a KHS Grit 220 heavily modified for touring (butterfly bars + 650 wheels + Brooks saddle) and my partner rides a Fuji Jari 1.3 :)
🌹🌹❤❤🌹🌹👍👍
What you saw at 6:55 is a bunker: everyone in Switzerland is literally required by law to have a bunker.
Wow - that's so interesting!
More precisely it's an old army airplane bunker, they used to hide the army airplanes in them. I live in Switzerland. And we no longer are required to have a bunker.
@@karinroten3606 Thank you so much for sharing your insight Karin!
Gpx code? Komoot?
No GPX code but we were able to find a "Lakes Route" someone had kindly created in komoot that was very similar to the Switzerland Mobility route that was helpful to have in addition to the signage and checking the SM app.
Maybe you two could think about e-touring...you use half the energy consumption of a non-electric bike. All you would have to be concerned about is finding an electrical port to charge the batteries when they become depleted. (lots go dual battery for longer bike riding distance range).
Amazing video! Thank you! I had bit different experience cycling around the Swiss: th-cam.com/video/yPeIsvz-qZE/w-d-xo.html
But in the end same as you enjoy this country a lot!
Thanks so much for sharing your video! I can't wait to watch the whole thing. From the first few minutes there are already such beautiful shots ❤ Glad to hear you also enjoyed Switzerland!!
If you look closely, the mountains have lots of encampments buily deeply into the rock, not a good place for an invading Army.
Can you borrow me the bike please ? :D ... it seems not serious but it is :D
Why are you calling it bikepacking when it's a classic touring setup.
