- In this video, we're visiting the beautiful town of Pylos in Messinia, Peloponnese and the amazing Stenosia Waterfalls located only 20 minutes away from Pylos.
" Pylos is built in the southwestern part of the Peloponnese and is known from the famous naval battle of Navarino that took place in 1827. The port of Pylos is one of the largest and safest ports in the world, while the island of Sphacteria in front of the bay of Navarino functions as a natural breakwater. Pylos is mentioned by Homer as the Kingdom of Nestor, which, according to tradition, was founded by the mythical Pylos.
Today Pylos is an important shipping center while tourism has developed significantly since the whole area is one of the most beautiful in Greece. The city is built amphitheatrically with a peculiar architectural design and the center is dominated by the beautiful square with the imposing monument of the three Admirals supported by two cannons from the Battle of Navarino. On the south side of Pylos there is Niokastro castle offering stunning sea view while 18 km away, is the palace of Nestor which is the best preserved Mycenaean palace in Greece.
For the development of tourism in Pylos key factor was the creation of the tourist unit Costa Navarino as it is the largest tourist unit not only in the Mediterranean and Europe but one of the largest and best in the world.
Stenosia Waterfalls is the most recent discovery on the Messinian land and for decades was hidden in an inaccessible canyon. It is a verdant “fairyland” like place, where a river (without name) flows from a waterfall to a pond, crossing 3-4 kilometers to reach the well-known Kalamari waterfall. "

Καλώς ήρθες στο χωριό μου Γιάννη, είμαι Αυστραλία και τέτοιες εικόνες και αφήγηση είναι μοναδικές. Λίγο πιο πάνω από εκεί είναι και αρχαίοι Μυκηναικοι τάφοι...
Καλησπέρα στη μακρινή Αυστραλία! Πραγματικά η Πύλος είναι πανέμορφη. Γνωρίζω για τους Μυκηναϊκούς Τάφους και το παλάτι του Νέστορα αλλά είχα λιγοστό χρόνο στη διάθεσή μου. Την επόμενη φορά. Θα έρθει βίντεο από Κορώνη και Χρανους το επόμενο διάστημα (και άλλα πολλά). Αν θα ήθελες να δεις κάτι άλλο από την γύρω περιοχή στείλε μου και αν μπορώ θα το κάνω.
