This video interview of Stanley Unwin is possibly from around the end of 1992 (the comedy videos mentioned below are usually released in time for Christmas purchases). Towards the end of this video Mariella Frostrup asks Stanley Unwin to rate his favourite of 3 comedy videos, she mentions the word “tape” also. A Roseanne Barr video which looks like it’s: Live from Trump Castle, Jan 5th 1991 U.S tv HBO special, A Frank skinner video, in which the VHS cover is briefly shown on screen, (Frank Skinner with boxing gloves on & a towel wrapped around his neck), the title is: Frank Skinner Live, it looks like it’s Frank Skinner (live at the Bloomsbury) recorded in 1991 & the video released in 1992. Mariella also mentions a Rowan Atkinson video but is less descriptive of it, it’s possibly: Rowan Atkinson Live recorded at Huntington Theatre Boston, U.S.A , VHS released by Tiger Television Ltd 1992.
I liked the show, but I can see why Lew Grade was doubtful? Perhaps it was not for everyone! I wish that a full season had been produced though, as I think it may have become more popular as it progressed.. Some of the stories were quite imaginative? I have watched the show again recently, and I still enjoyed it and was sorry to get to the last episode..
The Secret Service was axed because Lew Grade didn't think Americans would understand Unwinese, but the while pointcwas no-one was supposed to understand. It has been suggested Lew didn't like other things about the series, although an eccentric English vicar was a good change from all the hardware and explosions of Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds
Stanley Unwin still plugging the show - great stuff.
I've just found the whole series it's brilliant lol
Gerry Anderson was my childhood , i will be forever grateful .Thank you Gerry.
What a hidden gem. The internet is OK, after all.
Most of the puppets in The Secret Service were previously used in Captain Scarlet and Joe 90!
Henji bold! 😆😆

I couldn't understand a word he said until he started speaking Unwinese.
