Thats big! Congrats. TBH I reached 6k in 6 months. I was working really hard, but had to give my account a little bit of boost from time to time (used fame ster). It was 95% organic growth in the end. However I am proud of what I achieved...
People may say that starting YT channel is saturated because they don't want you to take a piece of cake, well it is not and not even close. I just started three years ago and already crossed 85k\month with two major channels. However, lots of info is missing. I noticed everyone keeps the secrets to themselves, I understood that after reading an eBook. No one is talking on how to outrank competitors videos properly (Which is one of the most important thing), how to gain traffic outside YT, how to do proper off site SEO to gain additional traffic etc...

DON'T LOOK AT YOUR ANALYTICS, JUST FOCUS ON THE NEXT VIDEO - BEST ADVICE YT I EVER GOT 💯
Let’s also not forget another key to your success: timing. You started your TH-cam channel in the golden age of times to start a TH-cam channel, during COVID when everyone was home (March 2020). I’ve heard from another TH-camr that we are approaching another golden age to start - recession. Take note peeps! Sometimes timing does matter. Now is always the best time to start (better than tomorrow…so I’m not saying you can’t just go start a TH-cam anytime), but sometimes there are even better times to start. And those type of opportunities don’t come around often. So pay attention, because when you see it, you gotta seize it.
I completely agree. The recession means that people now have the strongest incentive to stay home and entertain themselves for free

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 773 subs and > 300 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

One thing I have learnt within a very short time is that, People are very supportive on TH-cam. Most of them are complete strangers. It is actually very inspiring. Second Audience retention is everything if you want to perform well with TH-cam algorithm. Third thing is that, Millennium generation want fast moving video. Unless the video is fast and captive they will leave in the first 2 minutes. I thoroughly enjoy making video so all this will come with time.

Been doing youtube a few years. I always feel weird when people I actually know watch my channel. The strangers still don't bother me. When some random comment says "you sold out, I am unsubscribing." I am like 'bye'. When someone I know mentions seeing one of my videos...crippling fear even if they are totally nice.

I started my channel Jan 2022, and I found the first year so fun but a little discouraging that growth was so slow. This year I’m coming in fresh and trying again! I’m so grateful for your encouragement and tips and tricks! ❤
For me it has two aspects: One is the "i need to get started at some point" -side. If I think too much about starting a new project, I will always find reasons, why I should procrastinate. Why I am not good enough, not ready yet etc. And the other side is learning and improving on the way. Evaluating your videos, what worked & what didn't.
Your tips are so helpful, especially the tough love. Also, having a background on your personal journey was really interesting. Thank you for this!

Brands will even try and tell you not to ask what other creators are getting paid, so do yourself and your creator mates a favour and share! I listen to TH-cam videos in the background, especially around the house. So if the TH-camr's voice is easy-to-listen-to for 20+ minutes, I'll stay on a playlist from them for an hour or more. At least for me, the person's voice is a HUGE factor in whether I subscribe or not. (re the goldfish attention / engagement segment.)

This is oddly so encouraging because I have been wanting to start a channel and I work as a medical office assistant and a host at a steakhouse so I take A LOT of phone calls and I constantly get told I have a soothing/pleasant voice which I never even thought about being a factor in terms of being a youtuber.

We did it for six months without sharing with our friends. By then, we had a few videos that we weren’t as embarrassed about, so we announced our channel after we had a little success and experience under our belt. We shared them around the holidays when we knew people would have a lot of free fine on their hands, and our watch minutes BLEW UP!!!!

Glad to know I'm not alone-- that's what I'm planning on doing because I know I'm going to get laughed at (not with) if I share my content with all the people I know in real life right now, so I want to get a little success and experience under my belt before I share my TH-cam channel with them.
I don’t think you should give up after a year. 3 years on average for artists is about the time they can build up enough content for that particular niche. I’m just now starting to get some traction from a couple of my videos and I’ve been on TH-cam for 10 months. I still enjoyed your video and the wonderful tips you provided. Thank you!

It took me 1 year to get 100 subs, 6 months to get to 200, 5 for 300 and I’m almost to 400 after a month. It takes time.
Exactly, everyone says that you should not give up after 1 or 3 years. However it’s not easy it takes time to create content and edit.. I just started myself and posted my very first video 😄

What if? Then your channel tanks before it really started but you at least know, yt is not for you or more accurately you are not for yt. If you don't start you'll never know and have no potential for success. Just go for it.

I'd take a backstep on the whole "how are you going to enamor others if you can't enamor those around you" bit. People around you don't care for your success as much as you claim here lol. Some do, but there are a lot of jealous folks who don't want to see you succeed. Don't let the voice of others influence what you want to do. If they like it, great. If not, screw them. Do YOU.

I’m glad you noticed that. that’s literally the part that stood out to me the most. She gave really great advice. But if you’re looking to grow your success and waiting on your close circles to validate you and tell you yes keep going this is not the best way to do it. In other words she’s saying you need to wow your close circles first and see how that’s goes. I so strongly disagree with this.
From past experiences close friends were the least supportive. People will surprise you. Also I noticed she attends brown. Although not Harvard, brown is Ivy League and that in itself provides a strong platform for getting peoples attention. However she’s smart and has a great personality do that definitely helps for sure.
@@about-us-asmr4617 What she says can be true only if you're lucky enough to have "true" friends by your side. Having a true friend is a rare commodity. Cherish them if you have them in your life. Those folks will support and believe in you even if your first few videos suck because that's what friends do. More than likely, you might show them something and many will look down on your "project" and choose not to support you out of their own insecurities.
Thank you so much for this vid, the brutal honesty part really hit home for me. I have a huge fear of failure which leads me to not wanting to put effort into content creation so I can say “well I didn’t try so why bother” but deep down I have the “what if I really tried?” voice playing in my head. I started slowly posting tiktoks and people from my high school/church/family follow me and mentioned it saying they liked what I posted which was really surprising to me lol I def need to be more consistent and try to be more intentional about posting.

I just went back to rewatch this but finish the video and no my feelings were not hurt at the end but I did almost cry after hearing you say some of your videos blew up months after you uploaded them and it just gave me so much motivation and hope I just recently became monetized and I watch TH-camrs talk about the mental health aspect of TH-cam

I'm rewatching this video and noticed I already commented about a year ago. But even to this day, this video is really helpful. Especially the part about not picking a specific niche and just go make and see what sticks. Especially since we, as human beings, aren't 1 dimensional, it helps to make content around different kinds of interests.
