2023 Audi S8 | The Big Baller Flagship

  • With eight cylinders, two turbos and an optional Black Optic package that just drips with BDE, the S8 is for ballers. Ultra Blue Metallic paint, 21-inch gloss black rims, red calipers and quad pipes set the stage for an over-the-top luxury car turned hellion. The 4.0 provides the ferocity, the air suspension lessens the shock. With carbon vector inlays, tasteful ambient interior lighting and mechanized HVAC vents covers, the S8 resides at the intersection of posh and performance. It's the car parked discreetly behind the law office waiting to rejoin its equally elite stablemates later in the day.
    MSRP as-tested: $138,445

    I don't like big cars.....unless we're talking about an Audi A8/S8. For some reason I've always liked them despite being so massive. This model looks fantastic inside and out....and that NOISE?!?! It sounds phenomenal, just the right balance of fury and luxury. 👌

    Crazy expensive and crazy depreciation schedule. But such a great looking car. Almost as tough to find a6 allroad as well

    Steve, I think at this point you completely own the sub-15 minute car review market. I feel like all of your competitors have ballooned in length and I appreciate your concise narratives. I can't be the only one who doesn't have a 20-minute attention span anymore for a car I don't want! The droning and the wandering, my god...

    The radar sensors that look like black fog lights will be one of my all time favorite Volkswagen group feature for its luxury brands. It’s a clue that the S8 is an older Audi model. They’re phasing away from that. Some Porsche and Bentleys still do it, but Audi always gets the latest tech from the VW group anyway.

    Oh and Steve, I am sure you fell in love with the S8, like the rest of us old folk, with the introduction of the movie, "Ronin."

    To me, This is what the Hell Cat yearns to be, when it grows up. Sure it may have less HP, but that's only part of the journey. I mean, look at that interior. Classy!!!
    Thanks Steve, for another great Review.

    As cool as I believe this S8 is, I'd be more inclined to purchase the A8 for a more refined ride and the 330 hp rating is plenty for this driver.

    I had a 2020 S8 and it was one of my all-time favorite cars. In fact this last week I ordered a new S8 and an RS6 Avant because I suspect these are going to be the last of the gas powered super sleds.

    @ganeshthippeswamy1108 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm sure the interior is immaculately assembled, but it doesn't look that different from the A6's. At that price, an inside has to be awe-inspiring - and this doesn't have it IMO. Not surprised Audi hardly moves any of these.

    I’ll just say it. Sales are not as good as BMW or Mercedes because it’s an Audi that’s expensive (and the bland styling doesn’t help). People spending this kind of money want the badge prestige and looks to match the price. Cheaper Audi’s like the Q5 sell really well, but when it comes to the 100k plus purchases, people tend to choose BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Tesla, and Cadillac.

    Don't see the need for such big cars, specially for what they really provide.
    The constant increase in size is getting ridiculous and useless.

  • @MercOne

    This generation A8/S8 is a fine car, but the design is downright awful for such a large expensive car. Why Audi insists on sticking to this FWD based platform, that messes up the proportions is beyond me. It looks like something Buick would build exterior wise. The next A8 will indeed be an EV with a stunning design. As they should since they have nothing to lose after this generation being a flop.

    • @stevehammes

    • @kunaalkhanna

      MLB evo platform for the D5 A8 is shared by Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and the Lambo Urus. Not too shabby. Also, the D5 is easily the best handling car in its class, barring the Panamera.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevehammes The other cars that use it are smaller and far better proportioned. The current A6 is one the best looking and proportioned cars in the segment. The A8 on the other hand screams FWD with it’s long overhangs and economy car front wheel to dash ratio. It simply doesn’t work on a car this big. The sheet metal itself isn’t bad.
